A beautiful little villa in a fantastic location

The villa is close to the beach and local shops. It’s well fenced in to keep children and very small dogs secured which was amazing as we took our 2 small dogs. Inside the house in my opinion is in need of updating, particularly the kitchen. It has everything you would need in there but everything seems to be chipped or a miss match..Its a very small villa as well which shocked me considering it’s suppose to sleep 7-8, not sure how that would work out.. The gardens are a particular feature as is the beautiful swimming pool. Overall it’s a lovely villa but I think needs some time and money spent on it to bring it back up to a higher standard...

...einfach magnifique

Fantastic villa, lovely pool in a beautiful location

Myself and my wife stayed here for a week in August with our 3 children. Lovely quiet location in a nice village. The garden gave over 8 hours of uninterrupted sunshine while we enjoyed the clean and great sized pool. The beds are super comfy, good storage in each bedroom and a great climbing frame and slide for the kids in the garden! Le Porge-Ocean is only 8km from the villa and there is a cycle path that runs from the villa to the beach. The local patisserie sells great food, but don't get caught out by the midday closing (1-3.30pm)! Can highly recommend this villa!!!

An over-priced small villa which had a fantastic pool.

The description says that this property sleeps 9. There are only beds for 7 in 3 rooms and even as a family of 4 we were tripping over each other. The property is a collection of small rooms with too much furniture so you are constantly squeezing past everything. The 3rd bedroom is actually outside & not accessible from the main house so as a family you have to make a decision to either leave kids to sleep alone in the house, or all stay in the main house. The only reason the house has 3 stars is because of the pool which is fantastic. Le Porge is nice with endless stretch of beach.

Very relaxing holiday

We had a lovely relaxing holiday in the villa. Bertrand was very helpful and dealt with any issues we had quickly. Le Porge is a very quiet little town with a lovely friendly feel. It's quite far to Lacanau (a little further than we had thought) so not really suitable for popping into at night without a good 20/25 min drive either side but still worth the trip now and again. You definitely need a car here. It's about 8 mins to the beach which is absolutely beautiful! There is a cycle path all the way from the villa to the beach but it would be quite a long cycle. The pool is great and perfect for the kids and relaxing. The woods at the back of the villa make a lovely place to have a short walk. All in all a lovely relaxing holiday - even when the weather was less than perfect at times!

Wonderful

we booked a fortnight at Mondesir with our adult children and partners joining us for a week. The property is set in a lovely location on the edge of Le Porge with direct access to the cycle paths that cross-cross the area. The villa is lovely and the pool outstanding. We would have no hesitation in booking again.

Lovely relaxing holiday

Beautiful villa in stunning surroundings with forest views. Very quiet/secluded location but not isolated, and walking distance to bakery for morning croissants. The area is lovely with amazing beaches just a short drive away. The heated pool was a big hit with the kids, who swam every day. The villa itself was very well equipped and comfortable and we loved having breakfast in the sunny conservatory. Bertrand was extremely helpful and gave us lots of information. I would totally recommend for a relaxing holiday. I hope we can return one day.

Lovely house, lovely location

Stayed with my son for a week. The house is lovely, everything you need and very well maintained. Easy walk into the village, very close to an amazing beach that's perfect for surfing and windsurfing. Also close to the lakes which are nice and shallow and also perfect for watersports. Easy to travel locally and ideally placed right in the middle of a fantastic part of France. Took us 9 hours to drive down from the Eurotunnel at Calais, easily doable in a single drive that's easy to follow on the map. Neighbours are very friendly and the owner Bertrand is very helpful as well. No hesitation recommending to everyone!

A holiday to remember

An extremely comfortable, well equipped villa in a very peaceful and private location. All our meals were eaten in the sunny conservatory overlooking the pool which was one of the best pools we have ever experienced for size and cleanliness. The large enclosed and secure garden was ideal for our 16month grandson. It was a pleasant easy walk into the village for our baguettes and croissants for breakfast or to sit outside the Pit Stop Cafe for a cooling drink in the shade and the village supermarket satisfied all our needs. A short drive to the beach at La Porge Ocean where there were several eating/drinking establishments. The owners proved to be extremely helpful from the first contact and the information they supply on the area is very comprehensive. We would have no hesitation in making a return visit in the future.

great location

Three generations of our family spent a brilliant two weeks in Le Porge this summer. The house had everything we needed - the enclosed porch and veranda meant that we spent very little time in the house during the day. The pool was a great attraction for the children (7 and 9) who spent many hours each day playing and swimming. The coast is about 10 minutes away by car and has very beautiful and extensive beaches. The area also has lots of woods and lakes which were an added attraction for everyone.

A great holiday

We stayed here in early May and had a very enjoyable week. Our 4 year old loved playing in the heated pool and playing in the garden. The property has a real home from home feel and comfortably fitted 4 adults, 2 kids and a dog. Thanks to Angie and her family for making this such a memorable holiday.

About the host

Host profile image
Hello, I am Bert (Bertrand). I have lived in the UK for 30+ years (in Hampshire) but originally from this part of France. I always wanted to have my little piece of France and was able to realize my dream in 2007.

Why they chose this property

I spent a lot of time in Le Porge when I was young, and it was always my dream to own a property in SW France, so Le Porge was the obvious choice.

I bought the villa in 2007 and spent a lot of time and money lovingly refurbishing the house, re-landscaping the grounds and putting in the pool. There is now a second villa I have had constructed in winter 2018 to accommodate more guests. The property now has a total of 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and 2 kitchens, I holiday there a lot with my family which is why the house has a home-from-home feel. The house is named after the district in Bordeaux, Mondesir, where my grandparents and father lived and where I spent much of my childhood. I hope you will love the house as much as I do.

What makes this property unique

One of the main reasons I bought the villa is so that we can have a holiday destination where we know we have everything we need on site, and where we know we are guaranteed a lovely villa and pool, a calm environment, great beaches and super restaurants, as we have so often been disappointed in the past.

The house is equipped with everything you might need.
