About this property
Villa Loukia 5* SECLUDED LOCATION but Walking Distance Kassiopi Sleeps 6-8
Villa Loukia is a family home that has been successfully rented for 18 years and is loved by all who visit (see the 90+ 5* reviews). Villa Loukia underwent major refurbishment between 2015-20. The whole villa was re-tiled, luxury bathrooms created and the kitchen was re-modelled with all new appliances.
The master bedroom was extended to create a 'master suite' with a sofa bed at one end for those with young children. There is also ample room for a travel cot too. The new, luxurious bathroom has a bath and separate shower. It has great lighting, courtesy night lights, extraction fan, heated mirror and a shaving mirror.
The 'Blue' Bedroom and bathroom was remodeled so that the twin beds (can be made up as a double) are opposite the amazing view, the floor is the same gorgeous tiles as the master, the bathroom is larger than it used to be and really luxurious with a wet-room style shower, loads of modern lighting, automatic night lights, heated mirror and magnified shaving mirror. All the details you could ever need.
Downstairs is the Orange Bedroom and bathroom was upgraded to the same standard as the other two bedrooms/bathrooms. It has the advantage of having french windows that lead out onto the terrace and pool.
The whole of the living area has also been re-tiled to match the rest of the property and extended with a fantastic 'picture' window that takes in the view across Avlaki to Albania beyond. This gives a wonderful indoor dining area for low season.
We are really pleased with the results of the all the work we have done an guests seem just as pleased!
Villa Loukia is located in a stunning position, nestled into the quiet olive covered hillside above Kassiopi in the hamlet of Kelia. The views from the villa across the bay of Avalaki and to Albania beyond are truly stunning. The property was new for 2008, when my husband and I bought it. We are English family with many years experience of holidaying in Corfu. Attention has therefore been paid to equipping the villa with all the necessary equipment for a relaxing and happy holiday whilst making sure it remains comfortable and practical for both couples and families alike. Villa Loukia is also equipped with items such as hairdryers and beach towels in order to reduce the need for too much expensive baggage on the flight over. Also for guest convenience every room has a 3 pin English socket as well as the standard 2-pin and USB sockets. No need to bring adapters.
The location is quiet and private - away from other properties - however unlike many villas in NE Corfu, the situation above Kassiopi means that it is possible to walk (1 km - 10-15 mins) to shops/restaurants in the evening, leaving the car at home. The nearest supermarket is just 5 mins walk or 2 mins in the car. The famous village of Kalami and the lovely secluded coves of that area is just a 10-15 mins drive. The pool is large (5m x 10m) and in 2015 we added optional heating which has been loved by guests using the villa in low season.
We do have external security cameras but all are set away from guest areas. They are set on the drive, front entrance and rear of the villa. There are no internal cameras. The cameras are purely for the security of the villa.
In 2018 we set a goal to make Villa Loukia carbon neutral and we are committed to reducing climate change. Carbon offsetting is used to balance out our emissions by helping to pay for emission savings in other parts of the world.
We pledge to offset each year the carbon connected to the use of Villa Loukia as a holiday rental. This includes electricity, car usage by guests and staff, laundry and ALL guest flights. We produce much of our own electricity with the Photovoltaic Panel System (about 60% depending on the weather) on the roof and the Solar Water System. We offset with a donation to carbonfootprint.com and their Community Projects Portfolio in Developing Countries.
The pledge we make is personal and on behalf of our Grandchildren, so that they and their descendants can have a future that equals the life that we have had. It does not come at any financial cost to our guests.

About the host
Hosted by Lucy Rickman

My husband Nick and I (Lucy) have run a business in England for the past 35 years. We have been visiting Corfu regularly since the children were small. Once we discovered Corfu nowhere else seemed to match it as it worked for us as a perfect holiday destination - quiet, peaceful, beautiful views, secluded bays, good water sports, friendly people and plenty of sun. Even as the children got older, NE Corfu was still the perfect destination - it really does cater for everyone in the family.
Why they chose this property
We literally just stumbled across Villa Loukia whilst on holiday in 2007 and it really was a case of love at first sight. The house was nearing completion but the outside was a complete builder's site and there was no pool. Perhaps it was the fact that the children were beginning to leave home that influenced us into deciding that it was time for a new adventure. Buying a house in Corfu had not been our plan but certainly since making the decision to allow our hearts to rule our heads we have not looked back. We completed in December 2007 and then had a VERY stressful 4 months getting the outside finished, pool constructed, snags repaired, house furnished etc - all from my computer in England and just in time for the 2008 season. In true Greek style it was ready with minutes to spare!
Between 2015 - 2020 the villa was extended and completely refurbished inside. It is now just the perfect holiday house. There is a photo book about the history, at Villa Loukia.

What makes this property unique
Villa Loukia is unusual for NE Corfu because although set in a secluded position in tranquil olive groves, away from other properties, it is also in walking distance of the village of Kassiopi. This is a real bonus as our past experience showed us that with the majority of villas we HAD to drive to the tavernas at night.
Using the experience we gained over the years we also wanted to make sure that the villa was well equipped with everything you might want on holiday and that the kitchen was such that you could actually cook in it (if you want to)!
The views from Villa Loukia are stunning & it is the location and setting of the house that we fell in love with. Our guests to date all agree!
From 2018 our goal has been to make Villa Loukia more sustainable and we are committed to reducing the impact of holidays at Villa Loukia on the climate.
We are really pleased that Villa Loukia produces usually about 60-80% of the electricity used (including air conditioning and pool heating) from the Photovoltaic Panel System on the roof and the Solar Water System.
I add blog up-dates to the villa website if you want more information.
