Lovely rural location. Simple but comfortable gite, had everything we needed. Easy access to stunning countryside, and easy to reach from Caen. Beautiful area. Host was friendly and helpful with information about the area.
Very much out in the countryside, (suits us) Excellent service from Allison and a warm welcome from Dill the dog! Providing this is part of the country you want to visit, there isn't much better.
The gite is in a delightful setting . Peace , tranquillity and rural calm. The loudest sound is birdsong . Alison is a warm, friendly and helpful host and her garden is lovely . We had a wonderful stay and were able to relax .
Small quaint rustic gîte with character in a very secluded location!
This was an ideal base for us. There wasn’t a great deal of space but as we spent most of the time outside amongst the beautiful flowers in the extensive gardens it wasn’t a problem. Alison was a lovely, friendly host who was always at hand if need be. Loved it!!!
Our stay was so very relaxing and peaceful. Alison is a welcoming and thoughful host and was happy to answer our questions or have a friendly chat. The accomodation is clean and comfortable and has a charming decor. The kitchen is well equipped, the bed is very comfortable, and there are lovely fluffy towels to wrap up in after a nice, hot shower. The gardens are beautiful and the setting is so quiet all you can hear is bird song.
Alison and Dill, the dog, gave us a really warm welcome.Everything was as was advertised and the directions assisted us greatly.Orchard Gite is the perfect setting for a relaxing time in central Normandy. It is well located for day trips to Normandy attractions eg D-Day beaches, Mont Saint Michel and a short drive to supermarkets.Alison is fluent in French and English and can provide the local knowledge to make your stay enjoyable.
Was my first trip to France. I really like my little flat crowded by cows and lovely people.
Alison is a nice host, with good tips for nearby. I extend for one night, because I liked it so much. Check Vire with Normandie Museum nearby. Good for Day trips to Omaha Beach, Le Mont St Michel and Granville.
Thanks a lot for that lovely accommodation.

Welcome to Orchard Gites here in beautiful Lower Normandy. I am delighted to be able to share a taste of the French lifestyle with you and feel sure you will fall in love with the peace and tranquility just as I have done. I had always wanted to combine my love of a rural lifestyle and my passion for Art and I was able to fulfil that dream when I came upon this lovely farmhouse on the border of Orne and Calvados.
Why they chose this property
I decided that this was the place for me after viewing only three other properties! This lovely, old stone farmhouse offered everything I was looking for. The property had been renovated 20 years previously and had been run as a gite business ever since, so it was already well established in the area. I love the fact that the coast is only an hour away and yet the gites are tucked away in the rolling Normandy countryside so it offers the best of both worlds for holidaymakers. Visitors always comment on how peaceful it is however, the gites are very accessible and not at all difficult to get to. I think most people are surprised at how much there is to do locally. I keep in touch with my local tourist offices and am able to help guests really make the most of their time here.
What makes this property unique
The garden here has proven to be a delight; from the appearance of violets, daffodils and primroses in early Spring followed by the apple blossom in May. There is abundance of flowers, fruit and vegetables throughout the season. It is wonderful to offer guests fresh fruit and vegetables as well as home-made jams and preserves! The garden and surrounding countryside provide inspiration for the Art Courses I run in the summer. Guests can develop their artistic skills in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. This lovely location is ideal for anyone wishing to focus on a creative interest such as painting, photography or writing. The gites really are perfect for guests wishing to take some time out from the busy pace of everyday life and to experience a little peace and tranquility.
