'L'Etoile De Mer' - Coastal Villa With Private Pool

La Tranche sur Mer is an unspoilt family-friendly seaside town with a strong 'French' ambience, 60 minutes drive from La Rochelle airport or 3 to 4 hours from the St.Malo ferry. The town has plenty of restaurants, bars and shops and in the summer months is lively with many free activities and street entertainment. The villa benefits from being close to the centre of town but also within a short walk or cycle ride of the superb beach of La Terriere which is thought by many to be the best in the area. The beach is well supervised and has plenty of car parking, several snack bars and surf schools. It is easy to escape the crowds by walking a short distance along the huge beach. There are also beautiful forest walks practically on the doorstep. This well-equipped and newly-built architect-designed villa has a heated pool and is set in a very private situation with sandy wooded gardens front and rear and several spacious terraces. The Ground floor bedroom / en-suite are suitable for reduced mobility use. There is a particularly nice upper terrace overlooking the front wooded area, which gets sun until late in the evening.

This is a fabulous house for an extended family’s holiday. The house and pool are great and and the location ideal as there is a beach within walking distance (or an easy cycle). La Tranche is within cycling distance even for children and cyclists have priority everywhere

Gorgeous House

We had a fabulous time . The week just went in a flash . The house was lovely and in a very quiet lane covered with pine trees . It had everything you need .the inside was nice and cool . And lovely to retreat to When the sun got to hot .The kitchen was large .and had all the things you could possibly need .And the covered area by the pool was a nice thing to have .we pretty much spent all the time in the pool or around the outside dining table . We turn up very early on check in day (sorry) as the air con in the car stopped working . A big thank you for being so nice and understanding. And sorting out a local garage to fix it for us . On reflection we wished we had booked two week to stay . Again thank you for letting us stay in your lovely house . It was a big hit with all the family.

Fantastic location, villa hard to fault

Three generations of our family stayed in the villa this June. Ages from 6 weeks to 66 years. The location is fantastic. Near the beach, near the town. An easy cycle into town (better than driving as parking not easy). Large Super U 5 min drive away. But not too busy, quiet spot really. It is a really lovely area of France. The house is well laid out, spacious and very well equipped. Excellent pans, nice BBQ. We used the bikes with the child seat and trailer to go to the beach, as well as to go to the bakery in La Terriere which is excellent. So many cycle paths that are separated from the road, it feels safe for children. The pool is great, nice and warm. We were in it every day. Our 19 month old had a tantrum every time she had to get out! There is a lot of equipment for children including 2 highchairs, a travel cot with an extra thick additional mattress with waterproof cover and a bed guard. There is a stair gate but only for the bottom of the stairs. We used a bench at the top. There isn't a bath mat that we could see so when we return (which we plan to!) we would bring one as the bath is slippy for a little wild child! We managed to break something and the local property manager was very quick to respond. We fully intend to return, we really recommend this property and the location.

"L'ETOILE DE MER" SUPERBE !

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour ensoleillé fin septembre. La villa est très agréable, tout est bien pensé, il ne manque rien. Nous nous y sommes très rapidement sentis à l'aise, comme à la maison. L'extérieur est trop chouette ! la piscine est magnifique !!! que du bonheur :) un vrai petit coin de paradis ! La villa est aussi belle à l'intérieur qu'à l’extérieur. L'arrivée et le départ sont très pratiques et simple, nous avons appréciés la procédure. Quartier très calme. Merci de nous avoir accueillis avec notre chien.

Fantastic House

We had a wonderful family holiday in this very spacious and comfortable property nestled in the pine forest near the beaches. It is a great location for accessing all the Vendee has to offer. The outside area is wonderful with a gorgeous pool and covered terrace area for eating out. The bikes were very useful and made getting to and from the local town of La Tranche Sur Mer very easy with dedicated cycle paths and daily trips to the local bakery in La Terrière which was excellent. The general facilities of the house are great, comfy beds and accessible bathrooms, we made good use of the kitchen and bbq. It’s good for extended family or friends to enjoy. The upstairs terrace is lovely to watch the sun go down with the smell of pine in the air.

Holiday in the Vendee

Excellent location and a perfect property for families. We visited with my grown up children and my grandson for a week. Lovely to eat outside on the terrace. Pool was warm and well used. Enjoyed a family barbecue. Great range of bikes including a trailer for my grandson meant we could use the extensive cycle network in La Tranche. Over all wonderful stay

La tranche sur met June 2019

Three generations of my family decided to recapture our old holiday visits to France and booked this accommodation. In summary it was excellent. The beach is nearby (free car park if you are transporting a lot of beach paraphernalia), the town is easily accessible (we cycled and walked) and the pool / family area was sizeable. The owner wer extremely helpful and they have locally residing caretakers should assistance be needed. Great memories and we had a wonderful time.

Quiet mornings spent around the pool. Down to the lovely sandy beach some afternoons. Barbecues and wine in the evening. Occasional trips to La Tranche and good fish restaurants. Very useful supermarket with good quality meat, fish and vegetables for the barbie, and a good selection of wines. Great family break for the five of us (grandparents, parents and 2 year old).

Great Property! Accommodation outstanding! Magnificent Holiday!

Three generations of our family: grandparents, 2 sons, 2 daughters in law and two grandchildren - covering the age range of late sixties to just under 2, spent a memorable week at this fabulous property! The bedroom/bathroom ratio meant that all sections of the family had their own space, avoiding all potential strife.The kitchen is well appointed and the range of equipment meant that on the rare occasions when we didn’t want to use the barbecue, meals for 8 were no bother. The outside space was, if anything, even better. We mostly ate outside on the covered terrace, which also got considerable use later in the evening when the children were asleep and we could enjoy a relaxing glass of wine ( or occasionally more than one!!!). The “piece de resistance” was undoubtedly the swimming pool, where we spent the majority of our time! Easily large enough to cater for the serious swimmers and the recreational dabblers in our party, it was also ultra safe with the safety railings around it. It kept us entertained so thoroughly that we rarely took ourselves down to the local beach ( impressive though that is). We used the bikes in the garage for trips to the boulangerie in the village, and the well stocked SuperU in nearby La Tranche caters for our culinary needs ( particularly good fresh fish and shellfish!) Overall, a holiday destination to be thoroughly recommended. Thanks to the owners for allowing us to share it.

Fabulous house - near to the sea and village.

L'Etoile De Mer was great as was the weather. There were 10 of us and we had a fantastic time. The villa had everything we required. Bikes, swimming pool, bbq, table tennis. Near to the sea. There was nothing else that you could wish for. We have already recommended this Villa to some friends. The restaurant in the local hotel was great - 5 minutes walk. Spent a companionable 2 hours in the local bar when we had our one downpour during the week. The owners of the bar made us very welcome. Will visit again for sure.

Wonderful and relaxing

What an extraordinary property, beautifully designed, with a huge amount of thought that has gone in to ensuring we have everything you could possibly need. Personal highlights were the pool, the hammock, playing boules, the board games, the endless bbq's and the bike rides to the stunning beach. The house and the surrounding area is exquisite. Perfect family villa with pool

We've stayed at the villa three times and love it there. The villa is in a fantastic location, 10 minutes walk from a lovely sandy beach and a short walk from the village bakery, restaurant and bar. A large supermarket and market town are also only a short distance. We often use the bikes at the villa to explore the local area, including the pine forests and beaches to the north. Best of all is the villa itself, which is set up for all your needs. Both the adults and kids in our party enjoy spending hours on the veranda and in the wonderful heated swimming pool. However, there's lots else to do in the Vendee if you're feeling more adventurous, including boating on the Green Venice canal and visiting chateaux. We'll definitely be returning.

Excellent Holiday Accommodation

The villa was perfect for us – a family group of seven adults and two children aged 1 and 3. It provided excellent accommodation with lots of space inside and outside for relaxing and eating. The pool was comfortably warm and very popular with everyone as were the loungers on the surrounding sun terrace. The very well designed fence with safety gates between the house and pool was a key child safety element in choosing this property, along with the availability of a cot and high chair. The house is in the village of La Terriere, and we enjoyed our 10 minute walk to the local bakery each morning. The local beach is about a 20 minute walk or 5 minute cycle ride, as is the main town of La Tranche sur Mare with its shops, bars and restaurants. The family made use of the bicycles for travelling around, the area being served by a network of good and safe cycle tracks. The beaches are very good indeed, with expansive dry sand, and use was made of the body boards. Overall the villa is excellent and provided the focus for a very enjoyable holiday within an attractive coastal landscape. Strongly recommended.

Heaven!

This was our (two related families)second visit to this property,the 1st time was in 2012 and within the first day we decided to book for the following year - we were gutted when it wasn't available. When we returned last year it was everything and more than we had remembered. The House itself is wonderful and the outside terrace, seating and pool area is to die for. Our late teens sons were with us the first year and practically lived in the pool with my 80 plus Mum looking on from the sun terrace which she could access directly from the ground floor en suite bedroom. This room is perfect for people of limited mobility. The estate is beautiful and the walk to the beach is stunning. A five minute walk takes you to the village of La Terriere which has a great wee bar, bakery and hotel with a good restaurant. 20 minutes walk the other direction is the small town of La Tranche sur Mer which is just lovely, some great restaurants and some really nice shops. All that said, we are at our happiest having a barbeque at the outside seating area after a lazy day at the pool. The outside dining area is covered so even if there is spot of rain you can still be outside. Although our weather has always been mainly great. We are going again this year and can't wait. There is nothing to beat sitting in the late sun before dinner by the pool with a glass of vin blanc and delicious local olives from the market in La Tranche. We have all been coming to France for over 20 years and this is our favourite area. Indeed this is our favourite Villa and will always be our first choice when coming here. The owner, David, is extremely helpful and makes the whole experience a total pleasure. I do not have a single negative thing to say

Home from Home - but with a private pool

This is a large, comfortable, well appointed family home but we visited for a week as a couple only. I am always concerned booking French holiday homes because of the quality and comfort of the beds and furnishings and everything here met or exceeded our expectations. We loved the privacy the property created which centred around the pool area enabling us to eat outside every evening. The owners have the property well equipped with lots of swim floats and although we used the pool every day the star day out was surfing in the sea which was a few minutes cycle away. We used the house as a base to cycle from every day and the owner provided really good information and recommendations for this. We took our own bikes but we could have also used the bikes at the house. This has been one of my most memorable summer holidays because of the location - it is a little way from the centre which means that it is really peaceful at night but easy enough to access the bars and restaurants should you wish. We tried some of the recommended restaurants of the owner and fully agreed with his comments. We are thinking about returning again next summer but possibly for longer if we can.

Excellent family house

The house was perfect for us (2 couples with 3 children and a baby between us). Swimming pool was great. The bikes provided were in good condition and the kids loved the bike trailer. Only a short cycle through woods to get icecream from town. Big sandy beach nearby. Quiet. Clean. No problems at all. Friendly owner. Well recommended.

Why they chose this property

We purchased our plot in 2004 and the house was completed to our design (David is an architect) a year later. We started coming to La Tranche when our three children were small and we have many happy memories and associations with the area. Our children have now grown up so we tend to use the house either side of the high season.
We think our location is great, because it has beautiful natural surroundings and is quiet but it is also close enough to walk or cycle to the restaurants and shops in La Tranche.
Our beach at La Terriere is (in our opinion) the best in the area. It is lovely to be able to hear the surf at night and to stroll to the beach through the forest. We also love cycling and walking in the surrounding countryside and coastal routes, which are thankfully almost level!
