About this property
Casa Rosa Detached in middle of Village - Roof Terrace, Garden, WiFi
Welcome to Casa Rosa, a beautiful two-bedroomed detached 'Villa in the Village', nestled in the middle of Bugnara, near Sulmona, Abruzzo. This unique property, (which is all yours, not an apartment), offers you the best of both worlds, a detached villa with its own roof terrace, balconies, terraces, and cottage garden, which have a collection of chairs, loungers, tables, umbrellas, trees, shrubs, yet all set in the middle of a medieval village in the heart of Abruzzo, Italy.
Casa Rosa also has full gas central heating, with radiators in all the rooms and the added benefit of an open fire in the lounge for cozy nights in. Also flyscreens at all the windows, floor fans for the summer months. Now with free WiFi.
Just a five minute drive to Sulmona, Casa Rosa is also well placed to visit four National Parks, the Majella National Park, Abruzzo National Park, Gran Sasso and Sirente Velino Park's. It is the perfect location for walking and trekking holidays (there are numerous walks from the village), cycling, horse riding, sightseeing or just for a relaxing break away. The beaches of the Adriatic are 40 minutes drive away, skiing 25 minutes and the lakes at Scanno are only 20 minutes away. Rome is only 90 minutes drive away and Pompei 2 hours! For winter breaks there are numerous ski resorts, the largest being only just 25 minutes away at Roccaraso. There is a Water Park at Corfinio which is 10 minutes down the road and Sulmona has indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The villa is ideal for families, friends or couples, with plenty to see and do in the surrounding area during your stay.It is the perfect location for walking and trekking holidays or just relaxing.
Casa Rosa is close to the centre of the village of Bugnara, which is in the Club of 'The most beautiful villages of Italy'. Casa Rosa is a 200 year old, well equipped, full gas centrally heated, together with an open fire, light and airy detached villa, which has been fully restored. You enter through our beautiful chestnut doors into the ground floor which includes a fully fitted kitchen area with electric oven/grill, mains gas hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, electric kettle, iron, ironing board, toaster, teapot, cafetiere, cool bag in fact everything you need in a kitchen. Also a dining table with four chairs.
In the lounge area you will find the open fireplace with a 3 seater settee, two armchairs, Flat Screen TV (with Italian channels) and a DVD player complete with a large selection of family DVDs. A bookcase with guide books, cook books, local books, novels, maps, leaflets and guest book. WiFi router. Stairs lead to first floor.
On the first floor landing there is a hanging storage area and three doors, one to the shower room, one to the main bedroom and one to the twin bedroom.
The shower room comprises of a w.c., large wash-hand basin and shower (with a small window).
The main bedroom has a kingsize bed with luxurious pocket sprung mattress and verdigris metal bedframe, flat screen TV/DVD player for watching dvds, chest of drawers, radiator, free standing fan and wooden double glazed french windows with internal shutters, fly screens, leading to its own balcony with room for a chair.
The second bedroom has twin beds with pocket sprung mattresses and metal bedframes, flat screen TV/DVD player for watching dvds, a chest of drawers, radiator, fan and french windows with internal shutters with fly screens also leading onto its own balcony.
A staircase from the landing leads to the attic, which has a sofa for relaxing and a bookcase with books and a glazed door which leads onto the large roof terrace which has fantastic panoramic views over the surrounding roof tops to the Maiella mountains.
It is great sun trap, the perfect spot to relax , with a table, chairs, umbrella, sun loungers and sun beds.
Further details outdoors:
The large roof terrace measures 5.5m x 3m and commands excellent views, the perfect spot for eating al fresco, or just relaxing and soaking up the sun. A complete 'suntrap', as several guest have described it. A table, chairs, umbrella and sun loungers are provided.
Being totally detached, Casa Rosa has its own private garden. There is a secluded shady courtyard complete with table and chairs directly off the kitchen, with herbs ready to use for cooking, from here 4 steps take you to the cottage garden, which is south facing and one part is gravelled with Maiella stone, complete with a table, two benches, umbrella, the other part is up four more steps and has 2 comfy chairs which are surrounded by fig trees and newly planted nut, olive trees, oleanders, lavender and rosemary bushes and has a fantastic view down the valley to the Gran Sasso in the distance, so you have a choice of sun or shade.
Free parking is available very close by and it is only a 20 metre level walk away from the house making access very easy.
The villa is in a pedestrianised area, so no traffic outside your front door. There are also other approaches to Casa Rosa via the many sloping 'donkey step' paths leading down from the centre of the village. See www.abruzzo.org.uk for more and contact details.
Casa Rosa has free WiFi, which is available all over the house, including the roof terrace and the garden.

About the host
Hosted by Joanna Mundy

We live in Ludlow, Shropshire with our twenty three year old daughter and visit our house at least four times a year and still haven't discovered all that this beautiful part of Abruzzo has to offer. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you in anyway that we can. Best wishes Jo and Dave Mundy
Why they chose this property
We were lucky enough to buy the villa Casa Rosa seventeen years ago, it hadn't been lived in for forty years, so we spent 2 years restoring it to its former glory. We have been renting it out about 15 years ago and in that short time we have had so much fun and had some lovely guests, some of whom have become firm friends.
What makes this property unique
Casa Rosa is completely unique it is a completely detached villa, complete with a garden, terraces and roof terrace, which has a 360 degree view of the village and surrounding countryside, but also in the middle of a quiet medieval village. So you can pop the village shops and bar whenever you want. We just fell in love with it and hope you do too!
