There were huge road works going on all the way down Rua das Flores. The council was also conducting a complete overhaul of the water and sewage works. We had no control over that unfortunately. As a result no bedding was laid out until the last minute in order to minimise dust settling on the bed linen before your arrival. If you were that inconvenienced by noise and dust you should have left the first day you arrived and you would have received a full refund. Instead you chose to stay the full duration of the 10 days of your booking. During your stay you repeatedly called me, the owner, to complain about the council and the manager who tried his level best to make things more tolerable for you stay including buying you lunch. In return you refused the offer to leave the villa and left the villa in a truly awful state upon your departure. There were multiple things broken, including the jacuzzi which showed E-ERROR mode which it has never done before! We had to replace the electronic control pad of the jacuzzi which cost £800. The contractor gave us an opinion that the controls had been physically misused to the point that the circuit shorted internally. It looked as though a heavy object has been smashed on it. I would warn any villa owner to not rent their property to you as your verbal abuse since May has never stopped. Continued threats of legal action and abusive emails and text messages, it has been a genuine nightmare. You saw an opportunity, abused of it and then wanted the entire stay for free. Not only that but you have repeatedly threatened to sue me over and above for having a bad holiday. At no point did we beg you to stay as we understood the works in the roads were loud and dusty. You simply refused to leave. After all your complaints to Vrbo, not even they would refund your stay given that you could have left the first day with a full refund. We did warn you prior to your arrival that works were being done in the road in front of the house. Given the level of damage done to our property, we submitted proofs and photos to Vrbo which they were genuinely shocked to see. We did not even claim against your damage deposit because of the level of verbal abuse we kept getting from you. We literally just wanted you to get your damage deposit back and leave. My wife has been so traumatised by this experience that we almost packed in renting our villa out at all. Thankfully we have had some lovely customers stay since you left and they have restored our belief that customers love our little house by the sea. We have been renting our villa for holiday makers since 2011 and never before had such a truly frightening experience. We also went to stay for 2 weeks in August with my parents and we triple checked that everything was working well and all repairs were done. We had a lovely time. Ironically, after all the fuss, the new road looks superb. There is no smell of sewage since the council finished the works.
