We had a great family getaway, lovely house, with a great location, homily with everything you could need. Beautiful property, would definitely stay again
Lovely house with all the facilities that you need, good location for beaches, coastal path, tennis and golf. Great pub in the village and another at Bantham.
A lovely place for group of friends to stay for winter walks along the coast and a cosy space to return to. Well equipped with everything we needed for a few nights stay over the new year.

A good guest who clearly loved the house and the area.
What a great property to stay in gorgeous building very clean and so so quiet. Lovely views to the golf course, and of course easy access to the coastal path through the greens.

Thank you for reinforcing the reasons why we and our family stay there so frequently.
Everything about this home was great. We've stayed in many places before as a group and this was by far the best. The location, the space and architecture, art, comfort and practicalities were all fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends.

Very glad you enjoyed the house and surroundings so much.
We had a wonderful Christmas at Little Egret. The property is stunning, very clean, well equipped and in a great location. Lots of walks on the doorstep and a very short stroll to the village pub. We would definitely recommend!
Outstanding family accommodation in superb location
Well-designed house,-light, airy, but warm on cold nights. Very homely feel with comfortable sitting room and open-plan kitchen. Relatively secluded but within walking distance of beaches and coastal path. Parking for 3 cars. Nearby village shops for basics. Kingsbridge 20 mins drive. Would recommend.

Thank you to another satisfied family for your comments.
A wonderfully spacious, light, airy, comfortable house with great views across the local golf course to the cliffs and the sea. Located up a quiet lane, it is peaceful and private. Walking distance to nearby beaches, tennis courts, the local post office, pub and the SW coastal path. Extremely well equipped. A welcome bottle of wine was a lovely gesture. We had a truly lovely time and felt right at home! Thank you Roger and Tammy!

We like to provide the very best holiday for our guests and to speak to the guests in advance.
We enjoyed a lovely stay at Little Egret. A fully equipped house with a very convenient location. The house was large and very comfortable. We enjoyed family dinners in, delicious food at the local Village Inn and delightful walks on the beach with our dogs.

This is a regular very satisfying comment by visitors over the past 20+ years.
Great spacious house, the most well equipped we've ever stayed in.
Great location, could see the sea from bed! Great coastal walks, fantastic beaches 9all dog friendly) and small villages, shops and cafes along the way. Local pub served great food, some of the lanes were a little hairy!!

We like visitors to feel very much at home and those are just some of the pleasures which we enjoy so much.
We had a lovely week at Little Egret . The house is very large and comfortable. Location is amazing and just a 5 minute walk to the beach . Photos don’t do the house justice . Would recommend the house for a family holiday

Thank you. That is exactly the comment which each of our children and grandchildren make.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Little Egret. The house was very comfortable & well equipped with fabulous views across the golf course to the sea. It suited our family group well & we enjoyed glorious weather and marvellous coastal path walks. The younger members of the family group loved the surfing at Bantham beach. Highly recommend the house & its location.

Another happy family holiday based at our comfortable house.
Spent a very enjoyable holiday at Little Egret very comfortable beds and great views from every window. Kitchen well equipped although had to buy some tea towels locally (just an oversight)
Goods walks from house to beaches which we all enjoyed.
Absolutely wonderful break for our extended family including grand children. The house is fabulous, great view and perfect location, nothing to fault would happily come back. The Tracey family August 2020
We were delighted by the house upon arrival. It is located down a narrow lane used by walkers but virtually no other vehicles (plenty of room for our Discovery). 4 good sized bedrooms, including spacious master, 3 with comfortable zip and link 6ft beds and 1 smaller room with bunks and a single. Open fire in lounge, and comfortable if slightly dated lounge furniture, but all fine for us. Well-equipped home, light and airy and really close to the beach and the village. Excellent golf course just across the road. Really suited us for a short break over New Year with our adult children and grandson. Good property, would recommend.

As a family, we stay in our holiday home very frequently. Consequently, we like to keep the house well-equipped, spotless and welcoming. It is a warm and comfortable house especially with the open fire in the sitting room during the cooler months. The terrace, sitting room, morning/dining room, kitchen, and three bedrooms are all south facing with views to the sea across meadows. The architect designed the house with very tall windows (ground to roof in the hall) which creates a light and airy house throughout.
Access within minutes, whether walking or by car, to the sea, safe sandy beaches, bays with rock pools, cliff walks, golf course, tennis, shop, and pub make the house ideal for family holidays.
About the host
Hosted by Roger Wood
Little Egret has been our holiday home for over 20 years. For 30 years we rented houses in Thurlestone and Salcombe for our family holidays. We have 3 children in their 40s, who between them have 8 children, 3 dogs and 3 cats, and we have 2 black Labradors. So the house is well used throughout the year and is arranged so that it is very comfortable and easy to run. An added attraction for us is that we have a number of friends who live locally. My wife and I stay every month throughout the year as we value the quieter periods outside school holidays to unwind, walk the Labradors along the cliff and beaches, play golf, sail, socialise and eat fresh seafood.
Why they chose this property
We bought it because we wanted sea views without being exposed to strong winds (the house is sheltered from the prevailing westerlies), a few minutes walk to the beaches, the best weather in the UK, and easy access from our home in Surrey. Our family has holidayed in both Salcombe and Thurlestone for 40+ years because the South Hams has beautiful unspoilt beaches, cliffs, estuaries, rolling countryside, and Dartmoor is on its doorstep. The South Hams has its own micro climate which is often so much warmer and sunnier than the rest of England. Initially the crowds of Salcombe had some appeal to us. But we have matured to Thurlestone (15 minutes away) so that we benefit from a lovely village by the sea without crowds.
What makes this property unique
Originally our very young and then teenage children fell in love with the variety of seaside things to do. They are now 40 year olds who love the house and the area so much that their children can't get enough of family holidays at Little Egret. There is always so much to do being 5 mins walk to beaches, surfing, golf, tennis, village pub and shop, and within a short drive of everywhere in the South Hams and Dartmoor. Good restaurants and pubs abound. Historical places of interest and childrens places of entertainment are within short distances. Compared with more restricted holiday lets, we offer a fully equipped house, with space and relaxation ideally for two large families or four couples, sea views from the terrace and most rooms, and an enclosed, safe garden for children and dogs.
