A perfectly located, secluded villa with a private pool, Les Hirondelles is a 20 minute walk from the historic village of Soubes with a local shop, post office and vibrant Cafe which serves excellent food and wine. A 5 minute drive brings you to the large town of Lodeve with a wealth of shopping, restaurants and a popular Saturday market. The house is also conveniently located for access to the airports of Montpellier, Beziers, Carcassonne and Perpignan, and via motorway and train links to the coast and the rest of France.
The house serves as the perfect touring location to access the Languedoc's wealth of rich cultural heritage, from the dream cities of the Midi, such as Carcassonne and Aigues Mortes, to the fortresses of the Knights Templar, and to caves once occupied by pre-historic man, and more recently by Resistance fighters during the Second World War.
Less than an hour's drive to the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean coast, the house is also close to the beautiful waterfalls at Ganges, and the spectacular Pont du Diable, as well as the famous lac du Salagou. It also provides perfect access for wildlife and walking enthusiasts who benefit from access to the rocky, medieval landscape of the plateau, to the forested mountain ranges close by.
For those interested in French culture, the house is conveniently located close to many local vineyards which produce some of France's best wines. There are also lots of opportunities to sample local cheeses, and benefit from fabulous local restaurants.
For those inclined towards a more adventurous holiday experience, head north to the spectacular city of Millau where you can parascend over the highest bridge in the world, visit Valras Plage, where you can jet ski in the crystal clear water of the Mediterranean, or go white water rafting. And in the evening, visit the bustling night life of Montpellier.

House well equipped and comfortable. Access to UK programmes via Sky box appreciated, but no Wi-fi a bit disappointing.
A few points I feel are worth making - I hope you’ll take them in the spirit they are offered:
Lounge seating a bit uncomfortable. Pool clearly has a leak and needed topping up daily. Some light switches not very secure - one in particular is for the short hall leading to the 2nd bedroom.
We enjoyed our 10 days here, allowing us to visit Soubes again after selling our villa there 2 years ago and may well return sometime in the future.
Thank you.

This was our first stay at Les Hirondelles and will definitely be going back again. The property and location was as described and had everything we needed for totally relaxing holiday! The views from the property were nothing short of spectacular, watching the sun going down whilst enjoying a wine or two made it all the more special!
The pool was great and was used everyday.
The location couldn't have been any better, so much around to see and do, something for everyone and all within easy reach!
Yes there was no WiFi but that was not a problem for us as most mobile phone companies offer plenty of data and even our teenage daughter struggled to use up her allowance!
I would highly recommend Les Hirondelles

Hi Guy,
Thanks for your review. Previously you gave us a 4* review and said that you had had a wonderful stay in Soubes. Please let us know if there is anything that you feel we could have done to have improved your stay on this occasion.
Many thanks,
Alan
We absolutely love this villa, the property itself is superb, the swimming pool, the garden and orchard, the location is perfect for a bit of everything. Sightseeing, beaches, city life, countryside, historical villages and much more. This was our second stay at this villa and we will be back again.

Lovely location in the South of France
This place was perfect for our first holiday abroad with a baby, as it was all on one level, and had a kitchen suitable for cooking meals etc and had a high chair and cot. The pool was perfect for cooling off on hot days and the loungers were great for sunbathing. The location was brilliant - hidden away in the countryside, yet you could be in a town within 25 minutes (walking) or 5/10 minutes driving and lots of places to visit nearby.
If I could improve our stay, I would say the place would benefit from having wifi and updating the bathrooms, but other than that, the place was lovely.

A clean and pleasant property with beautiful views and pool.
Property was clean and tidy when we arrived, pool is delightful and we loved the beautiful views over the valley. It is a fifteen minute walk into Soubes, which is a lovely village with a great restaurant and grocery for your morning baguette!

Wonderful villa in a beautiful location.
We had a wonderful time at Les Hirondelles both because the villa was fantastic and the location was beautiful. The villa was equipped with everything we needed, particularly in the kitchen. Having three good size bedrooms made our 14 year old twins happy, having a bedroom each!! The pool was probably the best part of the holiday, exactly as it looks in the photos!! We all used it several times a day!! The orchard was great for fruit for breakfast...every day!!
We enjoyed the surrounding area with visits to Valras Plage, Montpelia and Beziers to name a few. We also would highly recommend the restaurant in Lunas. Fantastic!!!
All in all we had a thouroughly enjoyable holiday and would return in an instant. We would definitely recommend Alan & Danielle's villa.

Stunning Location
We have just returned from 2 weeks at this wonderful villa, the location was beautiful, lots of amazing places nearby to visit. The view breathtaking, and we spent hours just admiring it, as well as lazing by the pool.
The villa is a little dated, but has everything you need for a home from home.
We would definitely stay again.

Good sized family villa with a lovely pool
We enjoyed our stay at Les Hirondelles earlier this month. The villa is a very good size for a family of 5 or 6 and is well equipped. Everything was clean on arrival, with comfortable bedlinen and plenty of towels provided. We are a family of 5 but it is also ideal for a family of 4 travelling with grandparents as the grandparents could have their own room and ensuite bathroom, slightly separate from the other bedrooms. The bedrooms are a good size.
We were lucky enough to have hot, sunny weather for most of our stay and we made very good use of the pool - it has a shallow end and a proper deep end, and is solar heated. There is a pool alarm for anyone concerned about young children falling in. There is a fruit orchard belonging to the villa just in front of it and our children loved picking fresh nectarines to eat.
The villa is in a good location, easy to find, handy access to other towns, short drive to SuperU in nearby Lodeve, and lots of things to visit nearby - we especially liked the old town of Pezenas, with lovely artisan shops, open late Wed-Fri in August. The villa is walking distance from the village of Soubes but it is a 30 minute walk with children, so you will need your car.
All in all, an enjoyable place for a week or two in the Languedoc sun!

Lovely house in a stunning setting
We had a fantastic holiday here . The house is simple but clean and comfortable and had everything we needed, but the setting was absolutely beautiful. We watched some amazing sunsets from the terrace whilst drinking wine from one of the local vineyards. We had two small children with us and found loads of things to do but you definitely need a car. The village is very picturesque, there is a small cafe in the square which is a hub of activity in the evenings, does good food and is very family friendly. Our only complaint is that the weather wasn't great for the first couple of days. This was one of the better villas we have stayed, would definitely recommend it and we will definitely be going back.

Lovely little cottage in the country with pool
Fantastic little house, stunning views and very private. The area is beautiful and there are loads of activities to do near by. Couldn't ask for more from a holiday villa. Great there is a pool to cool off in. The house has all the essentials you need. Looking forward to staying again!!
We have been coming to Soubes for more than 30 years now, initially as a family renting a rustic old house in the heart of the village. We decided to buy the house in 2000, and since then have been enjoying being a part of the village every summer. These days, our three grown-up children and grandchildren are able to enjoy the house, as it caters for all ages. No matter how many times we visit, we always find more to do in this fantastic part of the country. We hope you will be able to enjoy it every bit as much as we have done.
Why they chose this property
Soubes was the perfect location for us. Family friendly, with a huge amount to do in the local area and beyond, it serves as the perfect touring base from which to visit historical and cultural treasures, as well as the vibrant nightlife of Montpellier and the beautiful beaches of the south coast. It has the perfect balance between seclusion in the stunning countryside, and ease of access. Perfect for a quiet, relaxing getaway.
What makes this property unique
The property itself is very functional, child friendly, and benefits from a private pool, and a large garden. Uniquely, there is a local British contact for any emergencies whilst on holiday.
