About this property
Prairie Cabin Of The Lac Qui Parle "Lake Which Speaks"
•We are a safe place for BIPOC/LGBTQIA+ folks to enjoy the prairie•
A quintessential, little, rustic cabin on the prairie bluffs of the Minnesota river is what we have to offer. Located on the edge of the Lac Qui Parle hunting refuge, and minutes from the Lac Qui Parle Lake State Park, this small cabin has HUGE potential! It is set up similar to the rental/camper cabins that are available at many of Minnesota's state parks. So if you're more into camping and the outdoors, and less into hotel travel, this is right up your alley! This 600 sq. ft. cabin has electricity, heat, air conditioning, and an outdoor water spigot, outdoor shower, and a separate toilet room equipped with composting toilet (port-a-potty also available). The kitchenette includes a fridge, microwave, and electric stove top with 3 burners. One bedroom with additional sleeping space in loft area. Outdoor patio fire pit and benches face west overlooking the Minnesota river valley and some spectacular sun sets! Located near the Lac Qui Parle Wildlife Managment Area, the Lac Qui Parle Lake and state park, there is plenty to do and see for the outdoors seeker. Or stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet of a rural Minnesota gem of a cabin. The cabin built by hand by the owner. All wood was locally sourced or reclaimed. Taking the better part of four years to build and get ready.
One owner does reside on the property with a large dog, Shadow, and a couple cats; the cats roam the property freely, but Shadow does not roam freely during rentals. The cabin is separated from the house by a grove.

Very peaceful very secluded with amazing prairie view not far from amazing river with a lot of history! Craftsmanship of the cabin was amazing!! Enjoyed very much!
This property was beautiful. Secluded and quiet despite being on the same property as the owner. The only downfall we had was the mosquitoes swarmed from dawn to dusk so didn’t get to spend much time outside. Would definitely stay again!
Very nearby LacQuiParle state park and mission, and we used it as base camp to visit Big Stone State Park as well. The cabin was exactly what we needed, with a stove top for cooking dinner in bad weather, a fridge, several sleeping options, and a toilet house and private outdoor shower.

Megan is the ideal renter for us! Great communication! Loved having you stay!
We had a great time! The kids loved the various upstairs sleeping places, and walking down to the dam with the dog. Everyone enjoyed canoeing on the lake, and we were very impressed with the giant cottonwood (and with the mosquitoes around it, too). The ground squirrels were very cute too.
Cute comfortable small cabin in a remote feeling setting. Very clean and well provisioned. Was not clear from the description that there is no running water or drain inside.
This was a perfect stay for our outdoorsy family! My kids really hate hotels and get board so we were so happy to find this place. My family and kids cannot wait to go back and they hope for longer next time, my kids only request is to see the dog the owners of the property talked about 😂.
Loved getting out to the prairie and enjoying the peace and quiet! The location was perfect and so close to the state park - super easy for day hikes!
Can't wait to return in the future!

My father and I made this cabin with our sawmill and our own two hands. We hope you like it as much as we do.
