4/10 Poor

Very uncomfortable stay. We encountered many issues:- Half the window nets were torn meaning we couldn’t open the windows without insects flying in. This meant the upstairs rooms got unbearably hot at night - dangerous for young children to sleep in such temperatures. We eventually had to abandon the 2 upstairs bedrooms, meaning 8 people shared just 2 bedrooms. The owner’s ‘solution’ was for us to “buy tape and put it over the nets” (she did get one net fixed professionally but the rest were left untouched). - The fan in one of the bathrooms was malfunctioning and made a screeching / loud noise. When we flagged this to the owner she assured us it would get fixed on the Saturday but this never materialised. She blamed the mechanic for not contacting her. - The house is generally in need of attention. It has mould issues, chairs with nails sticking out, the outdoor seating area is full of dirt and we found a huge piece of broken glass by the pool which my son nearly stepped on. While the owner was communicative prior to and during our stay, she was unapologetic and blamed previous guests for any issues. My son had an incident which unfortunately stained one of the mattresses - we apologised and offered to pay for the damage. However when we stripped all the other beds we found stains on several of the other mattresses - again a sign that things are not well maintained. A real pity as the house itself is nice structurally and clearly has a family history to it.
