About this property
CASA DO FEITOR - House on a forested farm
The ideal place for a weekend or country holiday, to rest, to be with family and friends.
My space is located in a farm with beautiful landscapes, you can listen to the birds, look at the stars, take walks in the forest, read outdoors, relax in the pool, rest or watch movies in a cozy house, is also close to restaurants, art and culture, among others. You will love my space because of the environment, the quiet and the outside. My space is good for couples, families and groups of friends.
It is located 5 km from ALMEIRIM, 1.5 kms from the village of fox, parish headquarters, 12 km from SANTARÉM, district capital, 23.7 km from CORUCHE (IC10), 44.2 km from GOLEGÃ, 47 , 5 km from RIO MAIOR (A15), 72,4 from CALDAS DA QUEEN (A15), 75,7 km from FATIMA (A1), 80 km from LISBOA (A1), 141 km from BEHAVIOR (A13), among others.
The Convento da Serra estate is mainly characterized by the existence of rustic agricultural and forest land. It is a rural area with good access, the estate crossed by National Road No. 114 and served by IC10 and A13. In the east of EN114, it has an area of 173.03 ha and there are plantations of Pinheiros Mansos and Bravos, as well as a cork oak forest of natural regeneration. West of EN114 and east of A13, it has an area of 61.90 ha and has 2 irrigation pivots where corn is usually sown to grain. On the edges of the pivot's were tame pines.
My guests can access the courtyards, sheds, pool and forest
Historic side of the Convent of Serra:
The former Serra Convent, between Almeirim and Raposa, built by D. Manuel I, belonged to the Dominican Order founded by the king, respecting the wish of D. John II, to be built near a fountain.
The Legend of Senhora da Serra:
One day some men grazing the cattle on the moor found an image of Our Lady. Their devotion made them keep the find. The story goes that Our Lady benefited them with some miracles. The inhabitants of the surrounding valleys set up a humble chapel on the top of the hill. Thus was born the chapel that existed already in the time of D. John II The monarch would have spent a hunting day there, and sensitized by his simplicity and devotion of the people, promised to build a new chapel. This building would be built by D. Manuel I, because it is said that the king would have known that Our Lady continued to perform miracles and decided that there was need of full time priests to assist the pilgrims. Thus, the monarch donated the house to the Order of St. Dominic in Santarém (in 1501), with the obligation to hold a mass every day.
Years later, legend has it that the chapel would have been visited by D. Manuel and Prince D. João (only 11 years old), who asked to be built there the Monastery of the Order of St. Dominic. Sensitized, D. Manuel will have ordered the construction of the Monastery, in place of the Convento da Serra.
