About this property

Luxury upside down , terraced barn conversion in a wonderful setting

Oak Cottage is located at Thirley Cotes Farm, a grade two listed estate in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors, conveniently situated near the village of Harwood Dale, between Scarborough and Whitby. Thirley Cotes dates back to the 1830's and is now a wonderful development of holiday properties set around a central courtyard. Oak Cottage sleeps 4 across 2 bedrooms and showcases an upside down arrangement, with the bedrooms on the ground floor and an open plan living space upstairs.

The private hot tub and enclosed terrace garden (featuring Teak outdoor furniture and a Weber BBQ) are just perfect for relaxing with a glass or two of something bubbling. Guests are also granted access to a number of shared amenities across the grounds, including an outdoor children’s play area, games room and picnic space.

Oak welcomes one large or two small dogs (due to layout of the cottage, no exceptions can be made). The Cottage Escapes office is based on site, so staff are on hand to welcome you and provide help and guidance during your stay.

Oak coattage certainly exceeded all our expectations. What a beautiful serene place, perfect for a relaxing stay. The staff were extremely pleasant and professional, with an abundance of knowledge on local walks and activities. We will be back, and would very highly recommend.

Countryside meets coast at Grade II listed Thirley Cotes Farm. A collection of 8 Georgian self catering cottages sleeping 2 – 42 and perched on the edge of the North Yorkshire Coast and Moors, just a short drive from the seaside towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay.

Tucked away down a meandering country lane, this blissful retreat is surrounded by stunning views of rolling countryside and offers easy access to excellent walking and cycling routes from the doorstep. The surrounding 21 acres are the pièce de résistance of this quintessentially country hideaway and private hot tubs are perfect for whiling away an afternoon alfresco.

Why they chose this property

Set in a prominent position in Harwood Dale, Thirley Cotes Farm was brought back to its original beauty and taken to the next level by our team of architects, designers and talented creative professionals who were involved at every stage. After all, who wants to settle for off-the-shelf, when you can experience off-the-charts.

Each of the Yorkshire stone cottages has been designed to meet the demands of modern life. With beautiful open plan living spaces and hand built enclosed gardens and we have worked hard to retain many of the original features.

Whether you’re in need of a romantic getaway for two or enough space for all the family, explore our collection of cottages at Thirley Cotes Farm – we have just the place for you.

What makes this property unique

Right outside the door of this North Yorkshire cottage is a table and chairs for morning coffee (or just to sit and listen to the bird song) and private hot tub set in the patio garden, complete with Weber barbeque. To the side of the property is an enclosed lawn (perfect for four-legged friends) and if little ones are feeling adventurous, there’s an outdoor play area and indoor games room, complete with pool table, table hockey and table tennis. Or why not get back to nature? After all, Thirley Cotes Farm is the perfect base for an outdoor adventure or spot of wildlife watching and you may just catch a glimpse of our resident barn owl. Please note children must be supervised at all times.
