Historic Farm House Retreat on 10 Acres in the Heart of Bolinas

The Bo House is a restored, historic 1884 Victorian farmhouse situated in the sleepy coastal town of Bolinas, an hour north of San Francisco. The house sits on 10 acres with fruit trees, wildlife, walking trails, a stream, gardens, and much to explore. Walking distance to downtown Bolinas with its quaint cafes and shops, as well as the magical Bolinas lagoon, the beach, a public tennis court, and 3 public parks.

The house is fully furnished with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a fully stocked cook's eat-in kitchen, a sun-soaked rustic dining room with seating for 12, a large living room with fireplace, separate kids' den, and multiple decks and outside spaces, a small pond, a hot tub and an outdoor shower. The house is stocked for the perfect northern California getaway and contains top notch amenities.

There is a limit of 10 guests in the main house. Our rustic small cabin can be rented for an additional fee to accommodate 2 people, for a maximum of 12 guests on the property.

This was a wonderful property for an "all-ages" get together. We spent 3 days without ever getting in cars since both town and beach were so walkable. The house has a lot of character and has been nicely maintained. The large dining table worked great for the large meals, while the kitchen nook was good for informal eating. The manager was very responsive for any questions or special needs, meeting the owner on our way out was a nice surprise.

Never disappoints!

Our same group of 10 (grandparents, and two families with two teen kids each) move into the Bo House every year about this time. We enjoy the surfing of course, the unique little town, the nearby hiking and the convenient courts. But most of all we all agree it’s the BO House itself that makes it special. There is a nook and a cranny for everything we want to do. Our two oldest teens actually went into a depression at the thought of leaving on the last day. We have gotten very attached to its warmth and uniqueness. Thank you for providing such a wonderful venue.

The perfect weekend away

We rented this house for a family memorial weekend and were absolutely thrilled to be there. It is in the heart of Bolinas just a short walk from a very lively beach. The house is historic, filled with character, well appointed, spacious and unpretentious. One of the highlights was seeing a juvenile golden eagle resting on the tree just off the deck - - what a treat. We'd love to stay at Bo House again.

We love the magical and unique Bo house and property. There is always just the right space for gathering, chilling, working, playing or creating. We could always find what we needed!! It’s perfectly located for surfing and exploring town. All ages had a perfect vacation and did not want to leave.

Lovely in every way

Special property, secluded but somehow right in town. Magical hillside, meadow and pond/gardens. Family and friends were very comfortable with enough room to spread out. Kitchen and rooms well stocked, and everything worked, which is always appreciated, and pretty darn rare in even the best rentals.

Wonderful!

We’ve stayed at BoHouse several times and the experience never disappoints. We love the art, the books, the mix of old and new furnishings that reflects a certain beachy Northern California vibe that is both stylish and laidback. The hot tub rocks. Rope swing for the kids and the steps to the top of the hill for ocean views just send it. Many memories have been made here… we hope to have many more over the years. The only problem is… we never want to leave! Thanks BoHouse! We love you!!!

Amazing Home -- Absolutely recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful property. We were four adults (my husband, sister and her husband) and three teens (17, 15, 13) to enjoy a weekend away. The house is just as described -- beautiful and so much space to relax, enjoy one another's company and play games. Stacked with books and cozy furniture, we very much enjoyed our time, evevn thought it was rainy all weekend! Beds are comfortable and everything is clean. Kitchen was well-stocked and we cooked most meals here. A short walk to the lovely town of Bolinas and the beach. Absolutely recommend and will definitely return if we are in the area.

The BO house is paradise!

I rented the BO house for a short weekend stay with a small group of moms ready to escape for the weekend. We had planned hikes, walks to the beach, outdoor activity but it rained all weekend so we stay in cozy, cooked meals together and chapter by the fire place. The house was so welcoming, has so much charm and is well designed and furnished with mid century pieces. The hospitality was perfect, everything was well described and communicated! I would love to return on a sunny weekend!

Charming home, gorgeous property, walk to the beach

Our family adored this home! It has so much character, and has clearly been lovingly restored. The morning light through all of the windows is amazing! The kitchen is very well-equipped and my husband (a knife snob) really appreciated how sharp all of the knives are!! Our children loved playing the ukelele and guitar, drawing on the chalkboard, and exploring the farm. Such a happy place. Also loved dining at Eleven, and visiting the Farm Stand. Would love to return.

Wonderful vacation home

I stayed at the farmhouse with a group of 7 adult hikers. Everyone in the group was absolutely thrilled with the property. The house is spacious, laid out well, and very homey. The interior is nicely furnished and the kitchen has everything you need for preparing meals and dining. The grounds are nicely landscaped and deer roam the upper reaches of the property. I would definitely recommend this house for larger groups, and my group has already asked me to rent it again for next year’s trip. The town of Bolinas is also very unique. There are some nice shops, a well-stocked grocery store, and an excellent restaurant. Two minor recommendations: 1. Put a sleep sofa or rollaway bed in the downstairs study for extra sleep space and privacy. 2. Provide wine glasses

Fabulous Family Reunion Venue

Our family group of 12 hadn't been together for over 1 1/2 years during the pandemic. Coming to Bolinas and staying in the Bo House was the best thing we could have done to break the isolation and relax in an unmasked, idyllic setting. The house is so well located and is perfectly furnished for a multi-generational gathering. It was comfortable, spacious, well-supplied, and welcoming in every way. After just a couple of hours, we all agree that we felt like we'd been away for a month. I can't imagine a more perfect family vacation. Thanks so much to Lyn and Adam for allowing us to share this very special place. We hope to return!

Bo House for Book Club

We’re 10 SF women in a book club that’s lasted 30+ years. The property is very cool. Great location, with groceries and pizza available. We wished the double beds had been queens. At our ages, a double bed just sleeps one person, so some slept on couches and wished there had been warmer (fluffier) blankets available. The kitchen is very well stocked, and we were very pleased with the stove and appliances, as we definitely cook gourmet meals for 10. We were authorized a later checkout which was much appreciated. Thank you, Lyn. We’ll be happy to book the Bo House again.

A gem of a farmhouse

We were in awe as we arrived, even before entering. The yard is stunning with fruit trees and flowering bushes, the huge decks are inviting, checkin was easy. The house was the perfect size for 11of us. We old folks had our room downstairs next to the incredible bathroom. The next senior slept in the downstairs den. The young man had his cottage up the hill. The 3 giggly girls the bunk room, and the rest had what they needed including space for doing computer work. Plenty of space, so not to get into anyone’s way. Easy walk thru town and along the beach for surfing and playing . We do this every summer, the farmhouse was the most perfect so far, well stocked with beach towels, games, music instruments and kitchen everythings. Thanx for sharing this amazing historic home.

Our three generations love Bo House

Close to the Bay Area, but worlds away from the hustle and bustle, we love spending time in Bolinas, Point Reyes and Stinson beach with our adult kids and grandchildren. This house provides a perfect space, with a family table that makes for great communal meals, prepared on the Viking stove in the kitchen. A large hot tub on a sunny deck is a great place to recover from long hikes, or for the kids to get warm on a cooler foggy morning. There's lots of outdoor space for the kids to explore above and below the house. Giant banana slugs to hunt for in the shady garden - and deer visiting the front garden. While it is an old farm house, the bathroom have been fully remodeled and brought up to date, and the kitchen has a dishwasher and great sink. This was our second stay here -- and we plan to return next year.

As Advertised! House is great, Bolinas is still Bolinas

Lovely old house with well maintained main areas with newer kitchen & baths on a magical piece of property right in Bolinas. We so appreciated the large fridge, great stove, the kitchen well stocked for cooking baking, serving and eating. ( Note that as of New Years week 2023 there is no microwave ) The house is comfortable and well maintained - beds are good (although do note only one is a queen and it was the only one comfortable for our tallest family member ) - some furniture is a little less comfortable for those with bad backs or knees. The lines are great & the beds have warm bedding but note that there are no throw blankets so bring your own if you come in winter. The outdoor shower is great. We love the place and are immediately working on booking again. Note - I’m listing comms with property manager as good because we had no need - everything was clear to us based on written info in the app and we had no issues when we were there. Do note however that if you don’t know Bolinas may have a hard time finding the place if you arrive after dark,

The Bo house is truly special

This was a very special weekend for all of us at the Bo house and was truly perfect and amazing! Our group of 8 adults and one child had an absolutely fabulous time! The house is so well laid out that there is plenty of space to gather or find time alone. We enjoyed learning the history of the Bo house and what an integral part it played in Bolinas. We all loved the extensive library throughout. My son loved exploring the 10 acres and watching the wild life: fox, deer, raccoons, birds, lady bugs and pond skimmers. He also enjoyed the legos, strobe light and games. We went hiking and running on the Palomarin Trail, my son took two surf lessons with 2 Mile Surf Shop (they rock!), we explored town and took the two block walk to the beach to watch the sunset. Lyn has done a great job describing her home, directions, and layout. She has thought of "everything" in the kitchen, which many times owners do not. The Bo house is "very" well maintained, taken care of and clean. All of the beds super comfortable and we all really enjoyed the outside shower. The hot tub is awesome though we had the luxury of having a hot sunny weekend at the coast so it was too hot outside to use the second day. Lyn is very easy to communicate with and accessible if you need. I would highly recommend the Bo house. We are so looking forward to returning very soon! Thank you Lyn for letting us enjoy it!

Family birthday weekend celebration.

The farmhouse in Bolinas is lovely, very clean and spacious. We enjoyed relaxing in the large hot tub on the beautifuly deck that was very private, The outdoor warm shower was nice too.The kitchen has an abundance of supplies. We prepared many delicious meals that we enjoyed sittiing together at the large country table. The beds were very comfortable.The grounds around the house are beautiful.Bolinas Beach is peaceful and just a short walk away.We enjoyed a delightful 3 day weekend.

Perfect set up for a group

Amazing property, gorgeous outdoor spaces and lovely indoor spaces, perfect amount of sleeping space for our group of 10. Especially appreciated the very well stocked kitchen which we used to its fullest to make all our meals. Wonderful rental!
