Hidden away In Deal’s pretty conservation area, The Artist’s Studio is in George Street, a very quiet mews, close to the sea, the High Street, the best restaurant in Deal, Victuals & Co & the two of the oldest pubs, the Ship & the Hoy.
You enter through the stable door and are immediately struck by an incredible array of artwork & sculpture, with bright light flooding through the huge skylight from on high.
It’s a proper romantic artist’s studio - with gallery - under which is the well-equipped kitchen & dining area, whilst in the seating studio space there is furniture designed by Hans Wegner, Charles Eames, Ron Arad & Thomas, with a veritable library of fascinating books, mostly on design, architecture & the arts.
Up the stairs, through the gallery, is the large double bedroom, with accent colours of mahogany, rust & black, with framed iconic black & white photographic prints, and an en-suite shower & bathroom, with Moulton Brown products.
This is the ideal venue for that romantic getaway, perfect for couples – particularly if interested in the arts, as it really is a snug feast for the eyes!
