Second stay

We had such a great time for the second time. It’s a really lovely cottage, spotlessly clean and in a perfect location. It’s so peaceful but minutes from the shops and pubs. It’s a little on the expensive side which stops us staying for longer, but it is really lovely.

Easter weekend in Deal

The property was great. Small but v cosy with a lovely wood burning stove. The Saturday market a few steps away was great and the usual attractions in Deal: cafe’s, shops, restaurants & pubs.

Perfect location, cottage a bit disappointing

The location was amazing and the cottage was super clean and decorated really nicely. It was a lot smaller than the photos showed (I always expect photos will exaggerate but the place was tiny). The bed was very uncomfortable, to the point that I had to leave a night early because I couldn't get to sleep which is very unusual for me. There was a terrible smell of damp in the cottage, which also stopped me being there regularly, despite booking it to get work done. Despite the fantastic location and lovely style of the cottage, I wouldn't stay again and really would expect to be refunded for the final night, as the smell and bed really ruined the experience.

Lovely cottage and town

The cottage had everything you needed for two and welcome gesture was also very thoughtful. We had never been to Deal and was extremely pleased we picked it, also cottage was in a very ideal position to all amenities from shops, beaches, pubs cafes all on your doorstep. At the weekend all the pubs had live bands playing music and one evening we travelled round them them listening to the different groups ( actually we were on our way home and ended up being out all evening) We also enjoyed the walks along the coast and will definitely visit Deal again, also had no problems with the parking for the cottage.

Great Deal

Great 2 night stay in this compact, well decorated and furnished cottage in the Deal conservation area. Close to the beach, railway station, car park and all the shops, excellent bars and fabulous restaurants in and around the busy High Street but just far enough away to be very calm and peaceful at night. Excellent communication & personal service from Keepers Cottages, a long established local holiday rental company with expert local knowledge and great people you can actually talk to which seems to be increasingly rare these days. We are delighted to recommend Deal, Keepers Cottages and this property to any couple looking for a fabulous break any time of year.

Half term bolt hole

Lovely little cottage for a brief snug getaway from the bustle of work.and daily life. Deal is a dear little, well meaning, emerging gem on the East Kent coast and this cottage has all you need for fish and chips, long walks and quality pints by the sea. Furnishings, finish and fixtures are all great at cow and cockle cottage. Everything we needed was to hand, well selected and as expected. Loved the little welcome presents too. Four small issues for us. These are all very small, but might be helpful for future bookings. 1) I may have missed it in all the info, but it would have been great to know that a cat lives or lived for a while in the cottage. My wife's allergies went haywire, despite the clear and derailed cleaning. If wed known she would.have packed all her meds 2) I think it could be useful and fair to make bookings aware of the closed up nature of the town on mondays-wednesdays. We know Deal quite well, but we're still surprised in a half term week just how little was open. 3) Stairs are an effort. Im not old, but my knees are weak. Again, I may have missed it, and effort has been made to mitigate, but again, I think it would be fair and useful to know just how steep, twisty and tricky they are to get up. I was crawling up and precarious coming down. 4)the shower tray filled up very quickly. Less observant people, who took longer showers would have flooded the bathroom.

Loved our time in Deal, and the Cow and Cockle provided a great home base for our journey.

We stayed in Deal for personal reasons, and the Cow and Cockle acted as an amazing home base for our travels in the region. We were amazed at how cozy the cottage was, and it provided everything we needed for cooking meals, planning adventures and a great night’s sleep. On our last day we managed to lock ourselves out of the property, and the staff at Keepers Cottages were very quick to respond and were extremely helpful in getting us back in to the property promptly. Extremely relieving that they were there to help us get back to what we were ultimately there to do: rest and relax! We loved our time in Deal, and the team at Keepers Cottages provided us with an experience that we will remember for a lifetime.

Positively lives up to it's description

I had a lovely stay at the cottage. It was warm, cozy and perfectly situated in town to get everywhere easily and to the necessities like supermarkets, car parks, etc.

Lovely weekend stay for one. Perfect location, easy access to necessities.

A perfectly located cottage. Walking distance to train station, car parks, supermarkets, and - more importantly - the high street, market, pier and shore. Booked for one person, the perfect size. Good for couples too who are out and exploring - might be a little tight if two are staying indoors. Warm, cozy and very comfortable. Reasonably priced for off-peak. Lovely people at the booking office if you need to get in contact, very helpful.

Everything in our service with Keepers’ was great. They were responsive to me on the phone and helped me book with ease. Very grateful. The cottage itself was comfy and cosy.

Cosy cottage in the heart of Deal

Our second stay at Cow and Cockle. This lovely cottage for two, is ideally situated in the centre of Deal. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped and we would happily stay there again. Please note however: the stairs are quite steep.

Cozy

This is a great little cottage, has all the amenities and is a five minute walk from the town centre and sea front. There's lots of places to eat and drink in Deal and there's great walking along the coast.

Perfect small bolthole for a short break

A great cottage for 2 for a short stay in Deal. The cottage is small, but well designed and furnished, creating a very comfortable place for a short break. The stairs are steep and narrow, especially for those of us with large feet!, but that's a minor gripe. The location is perfect and it is handy to have the management company based just around the corner in case of problems. I hesitate to provide too positive a review, as we will definitely return and want to make sure there is availability!

A lovely, small, cozy cottage

A lovely, small, cozy cottage, right near the center of Deal. It has everything one could wish for: a fully equipped kitchen, a charming little backyard with seating area, and comfortable beds. Perfect for a couple. We've been booking with Keepers Cottage since 2016 and once again were very satisfied with the service. Everything was very clean, and check-in and check-out were easy.

Small but perfectly formed

We spent a lovely weekend at the Cow and Cockle. We found everything just as we had hoped. The cottage is well equipped for cooking and relaxing. The location is very convenient for the historic centre of Deal. Deal itself is pretty, and the market on Saturday is well worth visiting. We walked along the coastal path to Dover (a bit far, to be honest, but the countryside was pretty and we just kept walking).

Not for us

Soo small, would be great on summer when outside available. No table indoors just breakfast bar with one stool.

Cute little cottage right in the centre of Deal

This is a tiny one up/ one down cottage which is perfect for 2 people for a weekend. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook, and everything is clean and modern. It's really central for walking around Deal, with lots of good places to eat and drink very nearby. It was very cosy once we had the log burner going. The only things that weren't so comfortable were the bed, which was a little soft with a slight dip in the mattress, and the TV which is far too high on the wall which means having to lean right back with your head bent back.
