About this property

Log Home on the Lake

This log home was custom built with all the furnishings and decor of an upscale lodge. You may have see pictures in Cabin Life magazine, where it has been featured several times. There are four official bedrooms with two extra rooms in the basement with beds. There are also 4 full baths and 1 half bath. Large decks on the front and back of house with bench swings. Kids and adults can walk down to the lake behind the house to swim, fish and more. This house is one of the closest homes to the lake available (about 350 steps) and we are located in a wake-free zone, meaning boats need to drive very slowly behind the house.

There is a large fire pit for bonfires and s'mores. The back yard is flat for bocci, volleyball or other activities. My son used to have paint ball fights with friends in the woods directly behind the house.

The dining room table seats eight comfortably. There are 3 bar stools to the kitchen counter for additional seating.

One of the many great features of this house is each of the three floors has separate entertaining space so people can get together in smaller groups if desired. The lower level has a family room and air hockey table and direct access to the back yard. The loft on the second floor is great for games - bumper pool, playing cards, board games or puzzles. There's something for everyone!

There are 4 tvs (great room, basement family room and in two of the bedrooms) should you want them.

Besides being close to the water, you are also close (10 minutes) from downtown Huntingdon - groceries, beer/wine/liquor, restaurants, gym ($5 for the day) and a Super Walmart. We are about 12 minutes from Seven Points Marina if you want to rent a boat/kayake/paddle board or use their water trampoline. We are also roughly 45 minutes from Penn State for football games and other activities as well.

And if you are an adventurer, some of the best bike trails are about 10 minutes away. There are also excellent hiking trails for every skill level. I go down to Juniata College in town and play tennis and my kids have roller bladed around campus. There is definitely plenty to do!

Please note property has exterior security cameras with video and sound recording.

Perfect Home to Gather Family

The home is clean and located in a quiet area. It comfortably accommodated four generations of our family. Access to the clean lake is a bonus. Kids enjoyed taking a dip and kayaking.

Excellent and convenient place for the whole family to come and celebrate our son’s graduation from Juniata college. Quiet family time spent on the porch drinking coffee and absorbing the sounds of nature. Communication with Jill was prompt and efficient. Lovely home.

Weekend getaway with friends

Such a beautiful cabin. Very clean, well equipped with everything you could ever need for a getaway. Short walk to the water for some swimming in the lake, very secluded and peaceful yet close enough to everything to make it an enjoyable stay. We have already started discussing coming back because a weekend stay wasn't long enough.

Big, beautiful, great location

Great family getaway! Plenty of room to share with our adult children and grandchildren, allowing everyone to spend time together or enjoy their own space. Convenient to town, short hike to the lake, firepit for s'mores, air hockey in the large walk-out basement...we couldn't have asked for anything more.

Great House

Our group of adults and kids had a great weekend at the house. The location near the water, the views, and seeing all the varieties of birds made the trip. The house came with everything we needed, the beds were really comfortable, and there were plenty of games and activities to do. The kids loved the rope swing and the air hockey. Can’t wait until next year.

Great house for 5 couples and a few children. Well stocked kitchen, great backyard with play area and fire pit, easy walk down to the lake. Everything is in great condition and Jill was always quick to respond and very personable. I hope nobody reserves it the week we may want it next year 😁.

Third Year for Family Reunion

This property is stunning and perfect for my family. Great location and we loved the hummingbirds! In the third floor king bed bathroom the sinks are not draining. The kids room on the third floor needs some work (no shade on the lamp).

Labor Day Weekend Lake Getaway

We all loved Jill’s cabin and couldn’t get over how beautiful it is! The lake was absolutely perfect and our group really lucked out with nice weather over Labor Day weekend! We brought several kayaks for the weekend and spent most of our time paddling around and fishing. It is a bit of a hike to get the kayaks down to the lake but completely worth the effort. The trail from the house opens up to a secluded cove with a spectacular view! Our only regret was that we all wanted to stay longer!

Great for family gatherings

This property is wonderful for family gatherings. It is lakefront as advertised, however it is quite a steep and long walk down to the water. But once you are there, it is a beautiful and peaceful view. I would have given 5 stars, except for the fact that you have to wash and put away all the towels, and strip the beds before you leave. With a large group like ours and early flights and an 11am check out, it makes an enjoyable weekend a little stressful on the way out.

Beautiful Lake.

We just could not get over how beautiful Raystown Lake is. The fishing could have been alittle better. But that’s fishing. We had our kayacks which was great to be able to use them everyday. I would use the boat ramp at Snyders Run If you want to bring a kayack. The trial down to the lake is a bit long to carry kayaks down and back up again. Snyders Run boat ramp is only 15 mins paddle to and from the property. House was big and we had plenty of room for four teenagers and four adults. Over all great time.

House in the Woods

What a wonderful house for a large family! Large gathering spaces on each level let you be together but not on top of each other. The decks are great! There is a 5-10 min walk to the lake through the woods and it is a perfect place to put in kayaks. Mountain biking close by. Had a question or two and Jill was quick to respond with simple answers. Location of this property is very convenient. It is a 10-15 minute drive to a Wal-Mart SuperCenter or Giant (with an organic section). We just 'went for groceries' at Giant before arriving at the house and saved ourselves packing a lot of our foods, especially cold/frozen items. Overall, we were very happy with this property and hope to return!

Amazing house and location

Jill was great to deal with. Questions were answered promptly. The house was gorgeous and had everything we could need. The only disappointment was the distance to the lake. The trip back up to the house was difficult for us older folk, especially in the heat and humidity. House was in close proximity to the Seven Points Marina and easy to get there and to town. We discovered a bicycle track on the way to the marina for different skill levels which my grandson enjoyed immensely as he rides BMX. This was a family reunion for us with guests coming from the South and the West Coast. Everyone had a great time. Thanks for everything Jill!!! Hope we can do it again in the near future.

The Perfect Long Weekend!

My family has fallen in love with Raystown Lake, and we searched for the perfect home to house our group of 10 to celebrate my husband's birthday. The Jones cabin was an incredibly perfect find and the pictures do not do justice to the detail and overall vibe of the home. The decor and arrangement make for a cozy and comfortable stay while having more than enough private space to accommodate our group of 10. It was so relaxing to spend time cooking in the amazing kitchen and spending time with friends and family by the fire. This was truly the perfect weekend and we thank the Jones family for opening their lovely home to us. We highly recommend this home if you are looking for a blend of comfort and class, and an escape from the stress of everyday life. A true gem at Raystown...We will definitely be planning another visit in the future! - The Stinson Family

Heavenly

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. There was plenty of space for all three families, yet the home felt cozy and welcoming. The property is gorgeous with lots of recreation areas very nearby - not just the lake but also hiking trails and excellent snorkeling in the Juniata River and its tributaries. Both stores and the town of Huntingdon being so close were nice additions. We were able to have all the quiet but no inconvenience of being far away when we needed some more milk. The house had enough of its own charms to occupy four kids under the age of 8 over two rainy days, a feat indeed. The walk to the lake was a little farther than we'd realized. The distance is accurately described in the posting, it just feels a little longer than expected when you actually do it, especially on the (uphill) return journey. Little legs sometimes found it tough, but we also felt more confident that our young kids would not accidentally find their way into the water without supervision. Overall, the trip was amazing -- we didn't want to leave.

Wonderfully relaxing

We had a great time at the Log Home on the Lake. The house was extremely well outfitted with things to entertain both children and adults. The house also had most basic things needed for preparing basic meals. The layout of the house with two bedroom on each floor allowed us to spread out and still feel connected. There are so many things to do locally that we would need multiple weeks to see everything that was available. We did spend two days at Penn State University, 1/2 day at Penn's Cave, and visited both the Railroad Museum and World Famous Horseshoe Curve in Altoona. The fishing and jet skiing was an appreciate break from the salt water available at our home. For those that didn't want to visit the local sites there was bird watching as there was always some type of bird in the bird feeders. Several rabbits and deer visiting daily. Fire Pit to make our S'mores. Short walk to the water for floating, fishing or just swimming. And the entertainment in the house, cards, bumper pool and air hockey. The owner was great to deal with and was extremely helpful through the entire process. She was at the home when we checked in and solve a few minor things that the previous renters left. We are looking forward to our return and hope that this house will be available for our next vacation.

Wonderful Week at the Jones Cabin

We just spent a wonderful week at the Jones Cabin and Cove! There were 12 adults and one baby in our group and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house is even better than it looks in the pictures! The kitchen had everything we could want, including plenty of plates, silverware, and glasses for our large group and the pantry had room for all of our groceries. The living room is spacious and very comfortable for lounging. The bedrooms were all comfortable and having the sheets and towels provided was really helpful. We loved watching the birds at the feeders on the deck, especially the hummingbirds! The house had plenty of entertainment options, from bumper pool to air hockey to board games and puzzles. The lake is a short hike from the house, but once you're there, it's worth every step. The water was warm and clear, and during the week, we almost felt like we had the lake to ourselves. It got a little busier on Friday, but because it's a no-wake zone, even with the extra traffic the water was great for kayaking or just floating near the "beach". During some early morning paddles we saw great blue herons, turtles, cormorants, and lots of fish. Our son also discovered that the shale that makes up the lake bed is GREAT for skipping stones across the water! Jill was great to work with both before and during our trip. She responded to texts quickly and was very helpful. The Jones Cabin and Cove was a wonderful place to spend a week making memories with great friends. We would definitely come back!
