About this property
Luxury holiday home escape, set in an acre of private garden with its own lake
Les Rochers, in the tiny hamlet of L’Encrevier close to La Ronde, was a working farm until about ten years ago. Beautifully and sympathetically restored, this secluded farmhouse is set in over 1 acre of fenced in completely private garden complete with small lake, fruit trees, meadow and abundant wildlife on the doorstep.
With over 160m2 of living space including two spacious en suite double bedrooms, exceptionally well equipped kitchen and luxury lounge, this is a high specification home from home you can completely relax in and we welcome your four legged friends with open paws. This is a true pooch paradise!
The house has been designed and furnished with luxury and comfort in mind. You could be forgiven for thinking you're in high end boutique hotel.
Step into the double height entrance hall with wrought iron chandelier and you're greeted by the imposing handmade oak and wrought iron staircase leading to the oak galleried landing. Underfloor heating runs throughout the ground floor ensuring year round cozy comfort.
The two large double bedrooms have been designed in a individual style with exposed beams, polished wooden floors, and have been beautifully furnished with original locally sourced French furniture. These rooms are equipped with all of the facilities you would expect from a deluxe hotel. Both of the spacious ensuite bedrooms feature a king size bed complete with 7 zone memory foam mattress and luxury bed linens to guarantee the most restful sleep you’ve had in years. The luxury fluffy towels welcome you as you step out of the large walk in shower. Both bedrooms are double aspect making them light and airy and both benefit from fabulous views across the garden and lake. There’ll be no arguments about who gets the best room, you’ll be struggling to choose!
Shop for some fantastic local French ingredients and exercise your culinary genius in the spacious kitchen. Fully equipped with everything you’d need to create a feast, the house has exceptional kitchen facilities including a large multi fuel range cooker, high specification dishwasher and fridge freezer and built in coffee machine. The beech units and island unit are topped with black granite and complimented by a traditional French dresser. You'll find everything in here that you would expect from a well stocked kitchen right down to cookery books for when you need a little inspiration. If you decide to eat inside, the kitchen has two dining areas, the largest of which comfortably seats four people or the breakfast bar on the island unit is the perfect place to enjoy your breakfast croissant and coffee. Sit back and admire the aged oak beams lining the ceiling or the original granite fireplace which was uncovered during the renovations and has now been returned to its former glory.
The contemporary design in the spacious lounge contrasts beautifully with the large oak beams, exposed stone wall and restored old potage cupboard. After a day exploring the area or relaxing in the garden, retire to the lounge and settle down into one of the oversized sofas and curl up in front of the log burner with a good book or catch up on your favourite UK TV programmes with the large screen HDTV. The oak flooring complete with underfloor heating make this such a warm and welcoming place to while away the evenings.
We saved the best til last....Its the breathtaking garden that really makes Les Rochers such a special place....
Step out of the house into the south facing garden and you’re greeted with scented, colourful flowerbeds, an original granite well (we have mains water now) and patio area leading onto large viewing deck complete with dining area and barbecue. This is the perfect place for enjoying views of the lake and gardens. The 400 year old oak tree provides some welcome dappled shade in the height of summer and provides a haven for a multitude of wild birds.
Take a stroll around the lake and you may find you are joined by heron, woodpeckers, kingfishers and the odd deer using the garden as a shortcut. Watch the fish for a while then help yourself to some fresh produce from the many fruit trees around the garden. The garden is fully fenced ensuring you can relax safe in the knowledge your dogs can explore every inch of the garden without disappearing!
If you can drag yourself away from the house for a few hours or more the Vendee and Deux Sevres areas offer so much to do and see you'll be spoilt for choice. The pretty towns of Vouvant and Mervent are a short drive south, where you will find shops, restaurants and water sport activities as well as the wonderful old buildings and surrounding woodland walks.
To get the ultimate view of the magnificent scenery why not have a trip in a hot air balloon located close by near Cerizay? Or if you fancy a canter through the bocage there are three horse riding schools within ten minutes of the house. For fairways and greens try Bressuire or Mazieres-en-GatineBressuire. Anglers will love the Pescalis Angling Centre with several lakes and every type of fishing you may want, an aquarium and a very pleasant restaurant only 5 minutes away.
The French have kept strangely quiet about an amazing global award winning theme park which attracts over 2 million visitors a year. Puy du Fou is forty minutes away and is an absolute must. Don’t expect rollercoasters, this is a historic themed park which is worth a two day pass. They even have doggy day care.
