About this property

Le Gite De Parc (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4)

This south facing gîte is an all day sun trap with private terrace running the length of the building. Although built of local stone in 1800 the layout bears more than a passing resemblance to the longierre style of cottages of Haute Normandy. Looking at the cottage from the left you will find, fully fitted kitchen with cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, coffee maker and a breakfast table. French windows open onto the terrace. The kitchen leads into the dining room and has an open fireplace, (logs can be bought in cooler months). A door to the right leads into a double bedroom decorated and furnished in classic rustic Normandy French style. This leads straight into the bathroom with bath/shower wc, wash basin and bidet. At the very end of the cottage is a small living room which has a two seater sofa and 2 armchairs. French windows lead out onto the terrace from the living room. The living room is equipped with DVD and all English freeview channels. Upstairs to bedroom 2

Part of three traditional modernised Normandy cottages in 3 hectares of lush watermill setting. The cottages are sympathetic conversions of old stone outbuildings, all fully equipped for the perfect self catering holiday. The Calvados region of Normandy is ideal for rambling, fishing, back-to-nature, family holidays. The banks of the River Vire are perfect for peaceful walks, fishing, renewal and rejuvenation. Within easy reach of many of the fabulous Normandy and Brittany beaches, the Medieval town of Bayeux and charming fishing village Honfleur and millionaires' Deauville. Historic towns such as Mont St Michel, Flers. Parks, chateaux, shops, markets, golf courses, horse riding, fishing and sailing are all local. Campeaux is a great launching pad for exploring the Calvados and Normandy region. The Vire Valley offers a landscape of rolling hills and occasional gorges, local cider and of course its Calvados.

A lovely stay
A brilliant place to stay over Christmas time. The gite was clean and had everything we need. We especially loved the fireplace. Jeni and Glen were fantastic, they answered all our questions and were always on hand. Thank you for a brilliant stay!

Where Nature invites you in*
If you're looking for a piece of Paradise this is your place. After being greeted by Johnny who said with a grin on his face "I speak Irish". He then showed us where we could park our car; it very easy and convenient to unload any luggage. He then escorted us into our cottage and in the living room on the coffee table we noticed a vase full of beautiful vibrant yellow flowers that had been grown in the garden along the side of the cottage. Johnny then pointed out that his lovely wife Lynn had made us a welcome basket that was full of some homemade and grown goodies. After a brief walk through the place it was all ours. The cottage and grounds were quite private and spotless yet very welcoming. The interior of the cottage was full of ambient light along with lot's of windows and french-doors to let in all that fresh country air. They also allowed to have a breath taking view of the garden that looked down to the stream; it was absolutely charming. My husband was in total heaven with the Bar-B-Q, in fact he made one every night of our stay. We decided to explore a little and discovered "The Barn" which is on the property and is a really cool place to hang out toeither play mean game of ping pong or fuse-ball or just hang out on the oversized couches and chairs and play with a very sweet and welcoming pooch named Tobey or just pet a very gentle and affectionate curious orange cat named Peanuts aka "Nuts". Also in the barn we noticed a table which displayed some of Lynn's finest; an array of homemade jars of;Marmalade Calvados, Plum Jam, Beetroot Vinegar of Cider and Plum Chutney which were all available for purchase at a too good to beat price; we ended up buying almost the whole lot. What made this one of our best trips ever was the tranquillity of this magical place. We woke up every morning to the sounds and sights of all the nature around us hearing the birds sing and watch all the butterflies dance with the faint sound of the river that flowed just outside. A truly gem and wonderful place to find a little bit of countryside magic*
