About this property
UNA RARA AVIS - solar house with sea views
Casa Polaina is more than an accommodation - it is an experience and a destination!
Return to natural life in an ecological, rustic and cozy cottage 100% powered by solar energy, disconnected from the network, Wi-Fi and modern technology.
IT DOES NOT HAVE WIFI OR TELEVISION.
Located in the total tranquility of virgin mountain with panoramic views of Monte Louro and the Noia estuary, secluded in the countryside but very close to villages and the most beautiful beaches of the Galician Baixas estuaries.
This restored house of a stone ruin has a large patio / dining room, 3 levels of garden overlooking the sea and mountains is a 'glamping' retreat for couples, friends, pilgrims and families who love nature. Pets can run all around the field.
With a photovoltaic system for electricity, wood stove for cooking and heating, pure spring water, and unlimited hot water, the Polaina house offers a unique opportunity to disconnect and restore itself in an environment of absolute tranquility surrounded by sea and mountains and to the Once near beach and town.
The ground floor consists of an open living room with a comfortable corner with sofa and bedside table, separated from the open dining room / kitchen and a bathroom with shower. The kitchen has a fridge and a simple butane gas cooker as well as a very efficient and easy-to-use wood oven / heater that serves both as a stove and oven and to heat the entire house in cold weather. The kitchen and bathroom have everything you need to cook, and a first aid kit.
The house has a large patio / dining room behind the house with barbecue.
On the second floor there is a very cozy living room and both rooms. One is a double bed, the other is two single beds that can be put together if you prefer. There is another single mattress and a folding baby travel cot (new).
We have a security door that can be installed on the stairs for small children and pets.
The 3-level garden has benches located to appreciate the views and tranquility of nature, as well as a high platform where you can do yoga or simply enjoy the extraordinary views.
Being a house powered by photovoltaic system, independent of the power grid, you should be somewhat aware of your electricity consumption especially on cloudy days. The system is designed to boost basic needs - energy efficient lights, a small refrigerator, charging phones and tablets, a hair dryer from time to time. If there was a lack (which never happens) there is a generator to recharge the solar batteries (Rosa will do it) in addition to a proliferation of very beautiful candle lamps and batteries that we used before the solar system to light the house. It is very romantic!
We offer a selection of books, games, and music instruments - a guitar, a drawer and various percussion instruments and a Bose speaker to put your music selection at home.
There is no wifi, however there is telephone coverage that allows you to create a Wi-Fi hotspot if you wish, and it is also possible to bring a portable Wi-Fi device (which can be rented).
The small town of Porto do Son is only 5 minutes away by car, and 30 minutes away on foot. The town has several cafes, restaurants and seafood restaurants (with free Wi-Fi), a food market and several supermarkets and bakeries.
My friend, partner and neighbor, Rosa lives at 250m and manages all the daily needs of your stay. Rosa is a lovely and very good person. He lives nearby, and he will receive them when they arrive to give him the keys and install them in the house. Rosa works from home and is always available to help with anything besides offering fresh eggs from her chickens and vegetables from her garden.
I live abroad but I am always available by phone and email to manage the reservation and answer any questions before and during your stay.
It is not for everyone, but for those who want to return to the quiet and simple life this house is a small corner of paradise.
