The Dovecot at Montofoli Estate is a unique stone-built VILLA that provides the perfect setting for relaxing and memorable moments with family or friends. The ‘dovecot’ BEDROOM is an actual dovecot, where doves used to be bred back in the 1900s. This is a unique feature that can rarely be found elsewhere in accommodation settings, not only in the region but all over Greece.

Montofoli Estate is a place of great importance since 400 BC. It is a legendary landmark on the island of Evia, in Karystos, that served traditionally as the private residence of the ruler of the area at any point in history. Important personalities have lived and been welcomed at Montofoli such as the Pasha of Evia during the Turkish occupation, king Otto of Greece, diplomats and officials that made up the high society of the time.
Today, Montofoli Estate is a boutique winery that produces awarded dessert wines according to the method that wine was produced in Ancient Greece, 3000 years ago. The vineyard lies on a classified archaeological site where findings are displayed on the exact place where they were discovered. A truly unique feature of the Estate is the magnificent staircase that runs through the vineyard and numbers 157 steps.
Guests can participate in the weekly estate tour during the summer months and discover every detail of the estate’s ancient history and present endeavours.
