Keuka Lake! Vacationing at its best On 120 Feet Of Private Level Lakefront.
120' of choice, level lakefront located at the water's edge with raft and dock provide for plenty of water enjoyment.
This home features an open and spacious vaulted living area and the two-story glass front provides a panoramic view of the lake. Two bedrooms and full bath downstairs and a bedroom and ensuite bath upstairs makes this a great set-up for families of two to six.
A large deck with views of the distant state park is the place where meals become memorable occasions. Enhancing your dining experiences will be glimpses of kingfishers, herons, ducks, and occasionally mergansers and loons.
Use our canoe to explore the nearby inlet. A marina is one/half mile away and you can tie-up your boat to our dock. Fishing is excellent and have even been caught off our dock.
Relax on a water chair or sun on the dock. Other activities our guests love include reading or napping in the lounge chair under the willow tree, snorkeling and of course, skiing and tubing.
Roast marshmallows by the campfire and watch the moon rise. Croquet, billiards, table tennis are also available. A nearby pick your own blueberry patch is open in July. Hiking on the Outlet Trail is another favorite activity of our guests.
Our exceptional location affords endless daytime activities: enjoy wine-tasting at the reknowned Dr. Konstantine Frank's or any of the nearby seven wineries. Keuka Lake's best restaurants are on the west side of the lake.
Parking for four cars is available.

Beautiful location for some peace and quiet. It was so nice waking up to the amazing sunrise and ending the night sitting out by the fire. I can’t wait to return!

We're glad you appreciate the outstanding location. Watching the sunrise over the bluff and sitting by the campfire and gazing at the stars twinkling over the lake are activities often commented on in our private guest book.
Beautiful lake front property with charming villages to explore. The cottage was clean, comfortable, very well equipped and offered many amenities and activities. Our hosts were very gracious, helpful and communicated well making our stay all the more enjoyable.

Yes, our site is one of the best on the lake, offering privacy, ample onsite parking and level lakefront. Our goal is to ensure every guest finds a bit of paradise here on beautiful Keuka Lake.
We had a wonderful time at this very clean and family friendly cottage. Location and waterfront is perfect! Kids were in the water all week long-lots of great swimming and fishing! Cottage was very clean and easy to just move your stuff in and wasn’t cluttered. Owners were very friendly and responsive. Cottage is clearly well maintained. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks for a great week!

We're so glad you had a great vacation at Shimmering Shores. The level beach and gradually deepening waters are two of its many great features. We go to great lengths to insure your stay is as pleasurable as possible. We hope to see you again.
Well-maintained and easy to use house on a quiet section of Keuka Lake. This west side lake house faces the east, so folks sleeping in the 2 twin bedroom in the loft will get the morning light, but the house is on a nice property, and with a canoe, kayak, raft, dock and basement full of pool tables, ping pong and bumper pool, there is tons to do. There is a marina .5 mile away and basic necessities are a mile away. A great spot for a Finger Lakes trip.
The Shimmering Shores cottage has everything you could ask for in a lake front property: canoe, kayak, raft, several floating devices, games and entertainment for outdoor, as well as, indoor use. Kitchen is well appointment with good quality dinnerware and utensils. The beds are comfortable.
The owners are super thoughtful and accommodating, preparing a personal letter with some very useful instructions for each family that stays at the cottage.
Overall, we had a wonderful time at Shimmering Shores, and I highly recommend this property!

Lots of fun, rain or shine!
Great location, right on the water with trees for privacy and just the right amount of sun and shade. We’ve never stayed on this part of Keuka before but we’d really recommend it! The water wasn’t as rough as it has been elsewhere. It was great for skiing and fishing. A few rain storms early in the week weren’t a problem, with the basement game room. The only suggestion would be a larger TV/more comfy seating for movie night when the weather isn’t cooperating. Overall, a terrific week!

We go to every effort to insure your stay is a great one. Most of our renters spend their evenings by the campfire, making runs to Seneca Farms Ice Cream (rated best ice cream shop in upstate New York) or playing ping pong, bumper pool, darts, pocket pool or board games. Many renters tell us these activities offer a refreshing change from watching television and give family members a fun way to interact. Thank you for your review. Providing a larger tv set is something we will consider.
This property looked exactly what was advertised on the site. It states that it is a private property and secluded-but there are no curtains on any of the windows except for one in the main bedroom. We could see the neighbors from the windows so I'm sure they could also see us. There is also another window in the bedroom above the bed and if you like getting up with the chickens then you will love this feature. As you can see, the furniture is dated which was fine with us but we soon found out that the couch and two chairs in the living room were terribly uncomfortable! I noticed when I was researching this house that a comment from another renter mentioned this in their review but it was met with a very unfriendly response from the owners that most people are too busy outside to care about the furniture. This furniture was the worst ever. We could feel every bar-yes I said bar-under the couch. Chairs were not much better. So just be forewarned! It was nice having a pool table and ping pong table to play in the basement which was damp, dark and full of many items. It has a washing machine and dryer that worked great. It was also nice to have a driveway right to the door-which was a big sell for us. Many rentals we noticed have numerous steps to go down to their cabin/house which we have rented from before and decided to never do again. We loved being right on the lake to fish even though the weather didn't permit us as much outdoor time as we would have liked.

We were saddened to hear your vacation was not all you hoped for. We will endeavor to make the sofa seating firmer. As for climbing on the bed in the loft to open the skylight, please note the building has central air conditioning. Instructions for use was left on the dining table. Your acrobatics involved in opening the skylight were completely unnecessary.
As for curtains and privacy the second downstairs bedroom is shielded by a twelve-foot hedge. I can assure you that no one can see in unless they are trespassing. As for the living room our immediate neighbor seldom comes down from her thrown on the porch and the neighbors two doors down, when they are present, could care less about what goes on in our cottage. Still, we will give this issue further consideration. Unfortunately, the six days of rainy weather you experienced exacerbated your need to sit inside, thus increasing your awareness of the lack of curtains and "uncomfortable seating".
We have received many excellent reviews and we appreciate your taking time to review your stay and giving us a four-star rating.
We stayed at this lake house with my husband, son and my parents. It was spacious and accommodating for up to six people.
Lake views
The best part of shimmering shores is absolutely the private property. There is PLENTY of grass area to accommodate playing in the yard, with lots of very generous amenities. This is very hard to come by on the lake and was so so nice!!!
The view from the inside with the panoramic glass is truly STUNNING especially after 10am. Before then- Very bright.
We also really loved eating on the patio every morning and evening. I will say, although this home accommodates children over five the railing gap is a bit large- something to note if you have children depending on their temperament. But, overall not an issue for us due to the precautions we took.
Amenities
This family definitely is so welcoming offering to use all their things making it easy to come without lots of stuff! (We came from Texas so this was a must for us). We also rented a pontoon and were able to easily dock on the private dock. It’s not too shallow which I know is a concern for some big boats! It was nice to have a washer and dryer on site too! We enjoyed the kayak and basketball every day.
Cleanliness
At first glance the home appeared very clean. The fridge was cleaned out, counters cleaned and the floors were mopped! The linens were VERY VERY CLEAN (and cute! Loved the quilts)
Although the home was clearly cleaned in-between guests, I think a professional deep clean a few times a season in unusual spaces like cabinets and hard to reach places would be beneficial since the windows are open most the time and because and the ceilings are so tall.
Thank you for renting your family home to us! It was truly a wonderful week with family! You are very gracious for sharing all the things you love about where you grew up

You are correct about this place not being appropriate for young children.: As our webpage states children under five years old are not allowed due to safety factors. Had you revealed you were bringing a one-year-old we would have denied your request to book. You did not tell us you were bringing a young child until a week before your arrival when it was too late for you to find another place. We would never cancel your reservation at such a late date because most, if not all the places on Keuka Lake are fully booked..
Deep cleaning? I assume from the fact that you moved nearly everything in the cupboards to the top shelves (and did not have the courtesy to replace them) that you must be very tall and can see things the rest of us do not. l Not one of our renters has ever mentioned such a notion and as you said our place is "very clean".
We're glad you appreciated our exceptionally fine property.
Wonderful house on lake, very clean and comfortable.
From booking to checkout all was great. The host (Barbara) was very attentive and accommodating to our needs, particularly since we were flying in from out of town. The house was well kept and had everything we needed for a great getaway. If looking for a week of downtime in the Finger Lakes this is a great place to stay.
We enjoyed our week at Shimmering Shores very much! It was relaxing and the cottage had everything we needed. Boat rental was a breeze at the nearby marina. We loved the deck and eating under the umbrella every night! The sunrises and moonrise’s were spectacular!
We had a great stay with our 8 year old. The property is very well located. Trees on the property edges bring privacy that we noticed was better than standard for this side of the lake. And the view across the lake is soothing with a low-key state park in view as opposed to a string of tightly-packed cottages.
Tons to do with kids both on property and off as well. WiFi is lightning fast for those that need to stay connected. The cottage itself is just as described in the listing, reviews, and photos. No surprises.
Property owners were very professional, courteous, and helpful. Book it, relax, and enjoy.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes, our lot is larger, more private and offers on-site parking unlike most properties on Keuka Lake. Our renters enjoy the ping pong table in the basement when they're not doing lake activities. As you noted, there is much to do in this area in addition to all the activities our cottage offers.
The property was stunning, especially the access to the water, which was quite private. The view of the lake from the picture windows facing the lake was very beautiful. The cabin was comfortable, homey, and well furnished. It was not lacking for anything that guests may need. The kitchen equipment was adequate. The beds were extremely comfortable and clean. The property manager was very responsive to any needs of guests, and reached out repeatedly to ensure that all was well, which it was!

You are apparently referring to the kitchen cabinets which are, in fact, vintage. What our renters appreciate are the large lawn, 120' of very private level beach, and the proximity to a small grocery store, two marinas, and the best wineries and restaurants on the lake plus the on-site parking. We are glad you enjoyed your visit to the beautiful Finger Lakes.
The property was very nice. The home itself was clean and accurately described in the listing. The deck overlooked the lake. We used it for almost every meal. There was a big yard for playing games. The home itself was a few steps from the lake. The lake was perfect for swimming. We had a great vacation. Thank you.

I’m glad you made use of the yard for croquet, horseshoes badminton, and bocce. The large, private yard sets it apart from most other properties. The 120’ of level and gradual beach is another distinguishing feature. We hope to see you next year.

Excellent accomodation
Shimmering Shores offers a perfect getaway in the beautiful Finger Lakes region. We had a wonderful
time right by the lake at the cottage, with meals on the newly refinished deck, and made bonfires at night, with delicious s'mores. We can highly recommend the accomodation, very comfortable and clean. The bright lights of Penn Yan and Hammondsport offer great restaurants and there is much to see and do in the area, the best Finger Lakes wineries are close by, and there are few better times than kayaking on the pristine waters of the lake. We even saw a beaver close by the cottage!

Simply the Best!!!
There is no place on all of Keuka Lake I would rather be. The private wooded drive down through the property takes you right to the lakefront. There are no steps to descend to the shore.
We spent 10 days enjoying the amenities at both the house and the nearby attractions. We loved dining outside everyday on the brand new decking while viewing the lake and glorious Daylily garden below.
Shimmering Shores has something for everyone. Spend time doing as much or as little as you like.

S'Mores and More at Shimmering Shores
Shimmering Shores is located right on Keuka Lake, with wonderful vistas up and down the lake. A Keuka Lake tradition is lighting a bonfire on the lakeshore, and roasting S'Mores, under a blanket of stars, with fireflies dancing all around. Who can forget breakfasts on the deck at Shimmering Shores, with the gentle lapping of the waves in the background. The accommodations are extremely comfortable and very clean and well maintained, and the pristine lake beckons one to swim and enjoy the cool water. The nearby towns of Penn Yan and Hammondsport offer many attractions and superb dining opportunities. The world-class wineries of Keuka Lake are minutes away. Shimmering Shores is an ideal spot to relax and "get away from it all".

A True Vacation
The view is gorgeous and there is a nice sense of privacy. My family loved swimming every day and the rec room was a nice surprise. The location is perfect with about a mile to stores and wineries. We all agreed we felt extremely refreshed and well rested when it was over. We will be back again and I can honestly say Shimmering Shores comes highly recommended.

About the host
Hosted by Barbara Whitney
This land has been in our family since the 1830's. My father inherited it from a great uncle in 1954. My sister, her husband and Bob and I built this home in 1987 and we have cherished our time here ever since. I grew up on a nearby farm so the land and the lake is part of my heritage.
Why they chose this property
You'll love dining on the deck as a soft breeze brushes your cheek. You'll appreciate the convenience to a grocery store a mere one mile away. And, a fruit stand is across the road in August (excellent corn). Besides conveniences the lot is private and the beach is level and only steps from the house. We do everything in our power to make your stay comfortable and fun.
What makes this property unique
Level lakefront on 120' private beach. Dining al fresco on a deck with great views of the water and state park. Convenient to wineries and restaurants. A canoe allows you to investigate flora and fauna up close. Herons and even an eagle have passed by or landed on our shore.
