This is a fantastic VRBO for those wanting to be in prime location in San José. The unit itself is really nice - large, very clean, large kitchen with modern appliances and laundry room. Property is perfect for walking to El Supermercado, farmer’s market, restaurants and more. The owner is super kind and very responsive; arrival, access, and all was a breeze. So much so, that I’ve rented twice (so far)!

Great apartment in prime location in San Jose

Elena is surly a top notch host who takes pride in her beautiful, very clean, modern, spacious apartment which is located in a prime and, I much say, a very safe location in San Jose City. Everything you need to live like home is provided and everything that you would ever need is within walking distance. We stayed for over a month and felt very comfortable, relax, and was will taken care of by Elena. Couldn’t ask for a better host, apartment or location. Loved it.

The Perfect Place / Great Owner

I enjoyed my stay so much, I just reserved another 5+ days here (and hope to extend). The unit is very clean, has plenty of room including living room, dining table, large kitchen with island/stools, and a very comfortable bed - the BR also has a custom-built closet! Great walking neighborhood too - you’re just few blocks away to el supermercado and more. Finally (or firstly?!), I can’t say enough about the owner - check-in instructions are very clear and easy to follow. She is super responsive in messaging, and always willing to help. The front desk - security - are very helpful, especially Leonardo “Leo” who was so kind during my stay. This is a 10 out of Five Stars ⭐️

Nice and clean apartment

Nice, clean and secure apartment with car garage. Neighborhood not so good but you find everything you need at walking distance. Nice pool . Not enough towels. Only 1 for kitchen and 2 for bathroom/pool. If you stay at night in the apartment it is a little dark. Property manager very nice. The apartment is very difficult to find even with waze, we had the police helping us out to find it at night.

Great condo and very nice once I was checked in. Not realizing I had arrived 20 minutes before check-in, the security desk had no reservation/no info on my stay. After sending 2 or 3 messages and calling only to get voicemail, and wondering if I was going to have a place to stay, at 2:59 she finally phoned the desk (check-in was 3:00) verifying my reservation. I realize check-in was 3:00, but to have to leave messages and call the host up until 1 minute before check-in time seemed pretty ridiculous. I had a 2 night stay booked, but was able to get my business done and left a day early. I messaged her a couple times letting her know I left early but got no response. The location of the condo is perfect. Incredible restaurants and a full service grocery store as near as one block away. a 5-10 minute walk away are more restaurants and services. The unit was exceptionally clean and had everything you'd need provided. A comfortable living room couch and a TV that actually works!! And the queen bed and pillows were super-super-super comfortable.

I had the pleasure of staying at Elena's studio apartment in San Jose, Costa Rica and I must say that she is an incredibly accommodating host. Her residence is absolutely beautiful and provides a comfortable and pleasant stay. One of the highlights of the location is the beautiful park nearby, which offers a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Additionally, having various food options right downstairs was extremely convenient. I felt very safe in the environment as well, which is always a top priority for me when traveling. The studio apartment is situated in an up-and-coming business district, which adds a vibrant and lively energy to the area. It was exciting to see the growth and development happening around. Although there was a minor issue with missing whiskey glasses upon my arrival, Elena went above and beyond to rectify the situation. She made sure to bring new whiskey glasses for everyone's enjoyment, showing her commitment to providing a wonderful experience for her guests. Overall, I highly recommend Elena's studio apartment for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in San Jose, Costa Rica. A real home away from home

An excellent place to stay! This was our first VRBO experience and it turned out to be a very good one. The apartment is exactly as pictured. It was clean, well maintained and roomy enough for both my husband and me. We were able to unpack and not have to live out of a suitcase, and not have to worry about strange people coming into your room everyday. Security lets you into the building downstairs, so that made us feel safe, Leo was especially helpful, suggesting places to eat and markets to stock up on supplies. The bedroom was large enough to be comfortable and has a window, the closet is adequate. The bathroom was especially appreciated by my husband as it allowed him to adjust the height of the shower so that he could fit under it (he's over 6 feet). It was really nice to be able to come back to a living room, a fully equipped kitchen and a washer an dryer right there in the apartment. The kitchen is supplied with high end appliances and utensils, a Jcloth, dish soap, dish towel and a full sized fridge and stove. It was also good to be able to open the porch door to allow fresh air to come into the apartment, little things like that that a hotel room does not allow makes an enormous difference in making your stay comfortable. The porch allows views of the mountains on both sides, and the building directly in front. Five to ten minutes walk from the apartment in every direction are restaurants, sodas or cafes, pharmacies, supermarkets, fruit markets, American fast-food chains and even a covid testing clinic (check Google Maps) We did not go out too late at night because the area gets quiet and dark early. We may be on vacation but we are always aware of our personal safety wherever we go. Five minutes walk away is the Paseo Colon, a major business and shopping area which leads right up to the Avenida One pedestrian shopping area, Museums and the Mercado Central where you can get some good food and souvenirs at the best prices. It's a 25 minute walk up to the Avenida but you can easily grab a taxi or bus. Communicating with Elena the property owner was easy and prompt, Elena was willing to address any concerns or questions that we had, she is indeed a premier host. After this experience, we may never stay at a hotel again. We may not have daily housekeeping and you take out your own garbage, but that's a small compromise for the amenities you get to enjoy and the price that you get it at. We would definitely recommend this property!

Me and my girlfriend stayed at Elena’s condo in San Jose for 4 days and we absolutely loved our time there. It was my first time in San Jose and we wanted a nice, clean, modern condo in the center of the city and in a safe neighborhood and we got exactly what we wanted! All the pictures are accurate and Elena was always available for us via phone or text to us if ever we needed it. I want to thank Elena for her professionalism , kindness, and generosity. I will definitely look for her condo on my next trip to San José.

Super in San Jose

Great little place for two people to stay in the center of San Jose. Very clean and tidy. Having a secured garage was a huge bonus for our rental car. We walked to the Central Market, National Museum and the Gold Museum since they are so close. There is a great little coffee shop just around the corner and a couple of good restaurants very close by. There also is a small market with all the little necessities just outside the front door. Overall, we had a great time with a wonderful location in a beautiful place. Elena is a great host!

lovely immaculate and comfortable in great location

got there about 9-9:30 at night and the guys at the desk didn't really speak english but eventually we communicated. the bed was very comfortable, nice shower, coffee maker and some tourist lit. As a solo female traveler, i really appreciated being in close proximity to places to dine for dinner. the first night i went to the park inn which has a nice little restaurant and was just closing at about 9;30 when i arrived so that was lucky. the second night i went to grana de oro right down the street, which was in the oldest mansion in the area, truly beautiful atmosphere and top notch food. i also walked to the main street (ave central?) the next day and that was a perfect length walk to go the the beautiful teatro national. i know there was a pool and exercise room there, both very nice amenities but i wasn't able to take advantage of them. for communication, best to ask the woman owner vs her husband.

In the Don Bosco area near Sabana Park, this was both a very fine condo & an impressive condo building. We are in our young 70s & did not find it challenging to get around either in the neighbourhood nor to the downtown. Choice of places to shop for groceries nearby. Grano de Oro restaurant just down the street. We loved our stay.

Elena's Condo -- Like Being Home

I stayed at Elena’s condo for five nights in mid-November 2019. The condo is "as represented" in the photos and description. It’s very clean and very comfortable. Elena has provided most things that you will need. It was a great place to orient myself for San Jose. There are enough utensils to prepare “small meals” and snacks. The Keurig coffee maker was great for a single traveler. I also appreciated the key-less entry / departure as I had a late arrival. Other residents of the complex are friendly, even with my less-than-perfect Spanish. I could walk to most places I needed: downtown (20 minutes); the park (10 -15 minutes). I also found grocery stores within walking distance. The small shop downstairs in the condo is also helpful for quick needs. Elena was very quick to respond to questions and provide suggestions. It’s evident she takes pride in her condo. The Grano de Oro hotel has a “nice” brunch on Sunday. I also frequented “El Muny” restaurant and bar” which is just about 2 blocks away, across the street from the cemetery. It has food that one would find in Costa Rican homes; nothing fancy but tasty. (Just be aware that the lights in the hallway are on automatic timers and go off quickly. They have a short time-span so you may need your phone’s flashlight to see the key pad on the door. Or you can just wave your hand in the air to make the lights turn on again.) A wonderful stay.

San Jose Brief trip

We were in SJO for a few days and the location of this property was perfect for us. Walking distance from one of our favorites restaurants, “ El Grano de Oro” with amazing breakfasts!. The owner, Elena was great to solve minor issues in a timely manner and extremely helpful.

A Colossal Place To Ttay

My wife and I spent 7 days in Elena’s beautiful apartment. It was exactly as described. There is a small grocery store under the building and a larger AMPM store (think 7-11) 80 metres 100 away. The PALI grocery store ( much larger) was only three blocks away.Elena was most hospitable and made sure everything was in order upon check in, asked if we needed any assistance or suggestions and helped me with my Spanish. The pool is great and sunsets on the roof are excellent. Two TVs, one in the lounge room had essentially Spanish speaking shows, but the one in the bedroom seemed to have mostly English speaking shows and movies. A $4 taxi ride took us to Aveneda Central, the great walking street in San Jose, and close to parks and museums. It was a breezy but sunny day, and the city was alive with a cacophony of sights sounds and smells. Buskers everywhere, blokes with loud speakers selling their wares at full voice, sirens abound as well and the ubiquitous car horns. It was great to be alive. One of our visits was the Mercado de Nacional Artesernals where everything Costa Rican can be found souvenir wise and bartering is expected and a fun place to visit. There is so much to see and do in San Jose and Elena’s place is a great starting point. When we return to Costa Rica (not if) we will definitely stay at Elena’s again. Muchas Gracias Elena.
