Other Things to Note:

What to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling? A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!

Perfect for our family!

Great location for access to Yellowstone National Park. We also found the river float about 1-2 miles south refreshing and fun--takes only about 2-3 hrs. The lodge itself was well equipped and comfortable, well kept up. The room over garage also worked better than anticipated. We enjoyed the fire ring and created happy memories that hopefully the children and grandchildren will not soon forget!

Great place and convenient!

Great place, clean home, and convenient. It only lacks WiFi, which is a double-edged sword. You definitely want to be able to unplug in Yellowstone to be able to see everything outside, but when you're planning day trips or researching other things you might want to do in the area it's impossible without consistent WiFi. Regardless, the location, convenience, and cleanliness of the place was great!

Totally feels like home!

We rented this house with our friends from San Diego. They have 2 teenage boys and we have 2 teenage boys. This house was perfect. Very Clean. Very comfortable. Very spacious. And, while Island Park is a little bit of a drive from Yellowstone it is still a pretty drive. I would definitely recommend this house to other people!

Beautiful cabin

It was a beautiful cabin and it met the needs for a family reunions. The family enjoyed the fire pit and spent many evenings out around the fire. Had plenty of places to sit for visiting and watching TV and videos together in the living room area and plenty places to sit and eat at the dining table and at the kitchen counter. Would stay at this cabin again. Great location in Island Park next to a nice little grocery store. The barbecuer worked really well and lots of picnic table to sit at while eating outside. It's a quick drive into West Yellowstone or even up to Montana going into Virginia City.

Perfect home for families!

This was a great house! We ate all our meals there and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. A new grocery store opened up within walking distance which was handy when we realized we forgot something. The beds and living areas were comfortable and spacious. One reason I chose this house was for the amenities for small kids: the high chairs, the crib, pak-n-play, and toddler beds. We were pleasantly surprised to find toys and books as well, to keep the kids entertained. The beds in the area over the garage were not as comfortable as the beds in the house but fine for a short time. A couple of the reviews I read mentioned issues with the water heater. We also had a problem but communication with the reservation company was easy and the problem was fixed quickly and no one had a cold shower. The weather for us was rainy and cool so we didn't use the grill, picnic tables, and fire pit as much as we would have liked.

Lots of room for ALL of us!

We loved this property. It was close enough to Yellowstone for day trips, right in Island Park for many of our family activities and large enough to hold almost all of us. We especially liked the outdoor covered picnic tables. The one problem we had was very quickly dealt with by the property manager after reaching out to the owner. Book with confidence!

Great Place to Stay

This place was great and worked well for our family reunion. Plenty of space! The outdoor space was great for eating and for a camp fire. The space above the garage worked great for the older kids. Only negative was the water heater wasn't great and some of the showers weren't very warm. Also no AC, but we opened windows at night for upstairs and it was not too bad.

WE WOULD STAY AGAIN! Excellent house for big group of all ages from baby to adults.

We had trouble with the front door lock. Not easy to open. We also had trouble with the water heater. We never knew when there would be hot water. We did notice an error message that would come on, when it was on we got no hot water. Out of ten of us I think there was only two who had a hot shower. The rest received cold - cool showers. Our documents were clear who we should call to get an explanation of how to use either the door lock or the hot water.

The property was beautiful and spacious. The woods behind the property was a fun place to play.

Over all the property was beautiful and spacious. There was a fun woods behind the cabin . Our kids enjoyed playing hide and seek and night games. The problem I had with our stay was the the area was under a water boil order and there was no offer to bring in bottled wanted. All that was said was bring wanted to brush your teeth and drink.

Not very comfortable

We had 13 people in a cabin that is advertised as sleeping 20. Most of the beds were toddler or baby cribs. The sleeping quarters above the garage was unusable because it is detached from the main house with no access to restroom. The cabin and patio areas are beautiful, but the furniture in the living spaces are worn out and broken down. Also all of the sinks and bathrooms in all three bathrooms are very slow to drain. This property has absolutely great potential, but needs a thorough update.

Great home base for Yellowstone

Great home base for visiting Yellowstone Your Comments This cabin was a great home base for our extended family of 14 to use to visit Yellowstone and also to enjoy the surrounding area of Island Park. We loved the outdoor eating area with the propane barbecue and the fire pit. There’s also a nice big dining table inside. It was clean and well stocked except for toilet paper and soap in the showers. One of the beds was squeaky and one futon was broken but I think they are remedying that. The office managers were easy to reach and kind and accommodating. We loved how the cabin is nested in the pine trees and has a true mountain cabin ambiance inside.

A great place

We had 3 cabins for our family gathering, but this one was our “home base” because of its covered patio with more than adequate seating with beautiful pine-hewn picnic tables. The adjoining fire pit area was great for family meetings and fun together. We would recommend this place very highly. The water is cold and wonderful to the taste The place was clean and ready for us. No complaints at all.

Great cabin for our family

We were really pleased with our overall experience. There were a couple of issues but, when we called, the response was timely! Unfortunately, one of TVs didn't work so the older kids couldn't play games or watched DVDs, and maintenance couldn't find the problem. But that issue was minor compared with the overall great experience.
