Unique place, fantastically situated
Overall we really enjoyed it. It’s really quirky and old, brimming with character including a life size Kung fu Panda.
Lovely big house smack in the centre of Shrewsbury, so great for seeing the town.
Only downsides the instructions for access are terrible and it’s difficult to find and that we couldn’t get the cooker to work and got no answer from the landlord when we emailed them.

Satisfactory, some areas need attention
This is a spacious property for up to eight people. It has quirky and interesting decor. Centrally located and convenient for restaurants, station and attractions. An historic Tudor house, some more information about the history would have been welcomed.
Beds were comfy with good quality linens.
However, many things need improvement. Car parking was difficult. The designated spaces in Chester Street are in a small area next to a church, with no markings, and have a “No Parking” sign in place! We found it impossible to find with the given instructions. When I spoke to Shelley, she was helpful, but informed me that she no longer worked for the house! My friend did manage to speak to Simon. In the Friday afternoon rush hour it took 30 mins to drive there. Providing a picture of it would have been helpful.
The unloading bays by M&S are often full. We found it much easier to load up by the tradesmens door at the back when we left.
On arrival in the house, the fridge was dirty and needed to be cleaned. Apart from small remnants on a few rolls, there was no toilet paper and we had to go out in the heavy rain and buy some!
There was one dirty kitchen towel left out. There was no bag in the bin, we did manage to find some. The door of the dishwasher is faulty and difficult to open.
There are 3 bathrooms and an additional 4 separate toilets. There were no towels provided for the toilets. There is a lack of mirrors in the bathrooms. The radiator did not work in the main en-suite.
The property seems rather roughly finished in places, with prominent nail heads making walking on the floor boards uncomfortable.
We found self catering for 8 people a little difficult with just one standard oven. Also, the main dining area is up a flight of stairs from the kitchen.
We noticed that a number of these points had been mentioned in the visitors book by previous guests, but no action taken, hence we felt it pointless to comment again.
We did not expect to experience these issues in a property in this price range .

Great character house in the heart of Shrewsbury
This is a lovely place to stay. Eight of us slept very comfortably in this spacious character home. Parking is not really possible close by but there is a car park that can be used about 8 mins away and an NCP about 6 mins away so it’s not an issue and worth it to be in the heart of town. We all had a great time relaxing and playing games at the big dining room table. Highly recommended!

The house is a fantastic period building, comfy beds and amazing decor, but could be
Overall, an awesome place, in a great location. Would recommend. However, there are a couple of things which need addressing. The hot water wasn’t, and there is insufficient pressure for a good shower. The top floor rooms were cold, and be aware that there are actually only 3 bathrooms, 2 en suites and one shared, plus cloakrooms. Not 5 bathrooms as stated. None of the cloakrooms had hand towels provided. The floors are period exposed boards, however they have random nail heads exposed and are slippery. One of our party fell while negotiating the steps from a cloakroom. The main enterence isn’t as shown on the picture, making it confusing to find. Fantastic lounges and kitchen. Great place for a group of friends. With a few adjustments it will be awesome.

Hi Richard,
Thanks so much for your feedback and we are glad that the little snags didn’t mar a great stay. It’s really difficult to find the balance between warning people of the dangers of a medieval house and all its quirks, and putting people off coming without bringing their own safety wear!
We will of course, look at heating and signage issues and are glad that you brought them to our attention. Things like wide steps and nails that have been there for over 400 years, are lot trickier to change. But we will keep looking on the next polish.
We would love to welcome you to stay again!
Kind regards
Simon
