We loved the pool and going to feed Kiera the pig, and Tom and Ellie were really helpful and kind. The kids really enjoyed playing on the go-kart, trampoline and in the playhouse, would definitely recommend :-)
We had an amazing week in the beautiful Courtyard cottage. The property is wonderfully rustic, spacious, very clean and we all felt instantly relaxed and at home. Eleanor and Tom were on hand to settle us in and advise on places to see in the area. The gite is completely private with a great size outdoor patio and garden. The BBQ was clean and we used it most nights enjoying dinner alfresco. The games room was fab and a real hit with the kids (14 & 10), the pool was also a winner and never crowded and the outdoor play area was also great, rabbits and turkeys for company! The surrounding area is stunning, 25 mins to Poy du Fou which is a must visit, plenty of supermarkets within a 10-15 min drive. All in all, we didn’t want to leave which is always a great indicator. If you want a relaxing holiday in the beautiful Vendee region, I cannot recommend this place more. Thank you Eleanor and Tom for a wonderful stay

Hi guys,
So sorry I missed saying goodbye in person! We’re thrilled you had such a lovely week and made the most of the cottage,.You were a pleasure to host and are always welcome back anytime.
Best wishes,
Eleanor & Tom
The owners are very nice and helpful. There was a smell from the sewer which was directly picked up by the owner. Also, two broken chairs were direclty replaced. The gite is connected to a nice old farmhouse which also houses several chambres d'hotes. Furthermore, there is a large field for camping and they also offer caravan storage. There is a big swimming pool shared with the other guests. The gite is comfortable but a bit outdated and very 'basic'. It would really benefit from a refreshment. Also, the private garden could benefit from some improvements. The site and gite have a lot of potential but it requires a bit of investment to get it to a 5/5 score.
Excellent gite. Very good facilities on site especially if you have young children. The pool is brilliant, safely fenced and nice and warm. The site is very safe for children. The hosts Tom and Eleanor are lovely and immediately help with any queries. I would definitely book the gite again in future if travelling to the Vendee area.

A lovely winter at La Baudonniere
We stayed with Tom and Eleanor at La Baudonniere for months - over winter. I finished my first novel and published it from the cottage. The location was tranquil, and the cottage perfect for our needs. Our hosts were kind and caring and we quickly fell in love with the place and the family!

Lovely area, lovely accommodation. V safe
Lovely cottage and grounds. Very safe for children to roam with loads of animals to see. Accommodation itself was superb and kids were v impressed to have wifi!! Park area was great with a large trampoline. Only downside was that the pool was too cold to enjoy and could have done with being heated. Owners were lovely and very accommodating. Would recommend

Perfect cottage, excellent reception
We stayed in this cottage in august. The cottage has all the equipment you need and has a private garden. The owners are very friendly. On a rainy day they provided us all extra toys for our children, which was really nice.
The cottage is very well furnished. On arrived there was a small welcome package ready for us, which is reallly exactly what you need after a long travel. The pool was perfect and surrounded by deckchiares. On the property there are some animals (2 horses, 2 pigs, 3 chickens) which is realy nice for the children.
There a few villages nearby, as well as lake with a small beach. Keep in mind that this is less touristic and more rural part of the Vendee. Nevertheless there a some good restaurants within less than five minutes driving.

About the host
Hosted by Eleanor and Tom Bannigan
We’re Eleanor and Tom Bannigan! We are from Ireland and we’ve been living in France since 2005. We travelled to many regions of France on family holidays, but fell in love with the Vendée countryside, its culture and its people.
Running the B&B, gîte and campground takes a lot of energy and hard work, but what makes it all worthwhile are the people we encounter along the way. We’d love to meet you too, so why not join us for a piece of our journey? Book your next holiday rental and accommodation in the Vendée, with us!
Sincerely, The Bannigans
Why they chose this property
The self-catering cottage is ideal for a family holiday. The separate sitting room, features the baker’s oven original to the property and a wood-burning stove and beautiful wooden beams. The Manor house itself dates back to 1620.
Through the garden gate, you have easy access to a private parking space, the manor grounds, the playground, and the heated swimming pool. Or after taking in the history and beautiful scenery of the Vendée, or sunbathing along the Atlantic coast, come home and throw open the French-door windows to enjoy a glass of wine and a barbeque on the terrace.
The gîte is available for nightly, weekly or monthly rental all year-round, and for up to 6-month rental or B&B from October 1st through March 31st. Breakfast is available for our guests at the Manoir with reservation.
