Magical Stay

Mary and Bill were welcoming and answered my questions promptly. Their cabin feels like home. Cozy and filled with the sound of rushing water over the rocks in Pine River! Loved the sound and views of the water. We will be back for another vacation!

Beautiful cabin!

We have a wonderful time staying at this cabin. Opened the windows to hear the rushing riverbed right outside our door. The cabin had everything we needed, from comfortable beds to wi-fi. A hammock outside was the perfect place to swing and relax, while the river provided the perfect backdrop on scenery and sound. Definitely will be coming back!

Tranquil Getaway in Nature

This is wonderful rustic authentic log cabin that is the perfect escape for a peaceful weekend in nature. The view and soothing sounds of the Pine River are top notch! You can enjoy being in nature whether you’re in or outside of the cabin. The cabin itself is tastefully decorated, the bed was comfy, and it has a homey feel. Bill was a gracious host and was extremely responsive and kind when I had to reach him. There’s also lots to explore in the area including Hartman Creek State Park, Brainards Bridge Park, the Red Mill, and the cute town of Waupaca that has a great Main Street with lots of shopping and restaurants- I loved Little Fat Gretchen’s and Comma. I’m very thankful that Bill and Mary opened their home so that I could have this experience.

Perfect getaway!

As soon as we walked into this cabin, we were struck by the beauty, cleanliness, coziness, and amazing view of the river! This house has everything you need to feel like you're at home and the owner was so easy to work with. It felt like we were dealing with a friend letting us stay at his home. Thank you! stay at his home.

Really liked how it was so close to the river. Just did not like how close a public tavern was to the place. The tavern was quiet though. Just a privacy issue for us. Quaint area. Seems this place would be a fly fisherman’s retreat

True gem...wish we had more time to spend here

The cabim is a true gem. My wife and I had a wedding in Wautoma and were impressed with our experience here. The sounds of the rushing water allowed us to have an enjoyable and peaceful time. We had a fire in the fireplace and there is space for a bonfire in the yard. If I am in the area again, I will definitely look at staying here. Bill made the whole process easy and trouble free....thanks for making this cabin available.

Always the best

This is the most wonderful place to stay. Lots of activities to engage in all around. Clean, nice bedding, pillows, towels, and beds. The kitchen has good kettles, knives, cutting boards, spices, oil, dishes, cooking utensils. The sound of the rushing creek is so relaxing. A quiet respite place of beauty. Very nice fire pit outside with wood at a reasonable price. What is needed - desperately - a hand held shower head and wheels that can lock on the table by the heater - so it does not keep sliding around when people are sitting there.

Lovely location

Can't say enough about the amazing location on the river. So peaceful and lovely and so nice to listen to the water day and night. The cabin itself just feels rich with history. Love all the fishing stuff .... it made us think we should learn to fly fish! And finally, yes, the tavern is across the river, and we were admittedly there in fall when patrons weren't out on the deck, but we loved the tavern as a neighbor. We didn't cook a single dinner - we walked over to the Ding each night and loved that experience as well. Thanks for sharing this amazing property.

Quaint cabin

Cabin and amenities were very nice, great decor! So cozy!! But beware that the bar across pond is Very busy and they are loud and lots of people go down by waters edge to take photos. No one was rude - but it felt like they were in our yard. Then like magic about 6 pm it got quiet and our seclusion felt real. It didn’t ruin our stay - I just expected more seclusion. I knew the bar was there, just didn’t expect there to be so many patrons and to be so loud, I bet during cold months you Never hear them! We enjoyed it anyway!

Otherworldly!! Wake up and fall asleep to the babble of the river and rustle of the leaves. Rustic, Cozy and Comfy cabin - close to many awesome Wisconsin attractions and conveniences - Chain of lakes, Waupaca, on/off site fishing in Pine River and local lakes. Owner communicative and helpful. Family of 4 found everything we needed for a few days

Cozy and sophisticated. Small but spacious. Secluded with a friendly bar just across the bridge for lunch. I love fly fishing, but I was there to just get away from family responsibilities so I could study for an upcoming class. A few mayflies one evening tempted me into wetting a line, but no luck.If you're a cafe-fe fan, try Mt. Morris. It's a pretty drive.

Wonderful stay on the river

Four adults stayed in this cute cabin on the Pine River. We had everything we needed for an enjoyable 3 days/3 nights. The beds were comfortable and the furniture is nice. Plenty of towels and kitchen supplies. The sound of the river just outside the cabin is very relaxing. We tied our float tubes to a tree and just relaxed with some beer for a couple of hours in the river, which kept us cool in the 90 degree weather. Ding's Tavern just across the river is a nice place to play pool and have dinner. The cabin had 3 fans, but because of the high heat over the July 4 weekend, we brought 3 fans of our own (no A/C at the cabin), and with all the fans going we were just fine.

About the host

Hosted by Bill Zimmermann

Mary & Bill own an Office Supply and Printing business in Waupaca WI, have 3 grown children and a 5 year old fur-kid, yellow lab named Wren. We love spending time outdoors in the Waupaca area, and especially time at our cabin on the Pine River fishing, biking, relaxing and playing cribbage.

Why they chose this property

The cabin sits within 8' of the Pine River in an area where there are some gentle rapids that sound especially nice on warm summer nights with all of the windows open! The cabin is conveniently located near Waupaca, Wild Rose and Wautoma, with many options for eating and drinking within minutes. You'll feel like you're much further "up-north" when you're within only 2-hours of Milwaukee and Madison.

What makes this property unique

Unplug, open the windows on warm summer nights and hear the sound of rushing water. Natural therapy for insomniacs and work-week stress!
