Location forgives a lot
I left it a week after coming home before writing my review
The location is EXCELLENT- hyde park is 2 mins walk, all the shops on Oxford street are 15 mins walk with kids in tow. I could not stop saying wow to the location, I still pinch myself when I think back. I almost forgot to mention edge ware road and it’s wonderful food was also 2 a minutes walk.
When we booked the flat it was advertised as a 3 bedroom - it turned out it was a 2 bedroom and the third bedroom was a double bed in the lounge/living room. Had I known this before booking I wouldn’t have booked it as I have 3 children. The property host offered £100 to compensate which we accepted as we were too late in booking to cancel.
The accommodation is fine to use as a base for coming back to and to sleep in. It is equipped very basically. Things like chipped mugs and plates put me off a bit, but it was fine for a few days.
We came back one day during our holiday to find the apartment door open and someone stood there with a tin of paint. I was confused as we hadn’t given permission for anyone to enter. The host came out to say he had text me to ask if this was ok and I should have replied. The whole incident was strange and distressing. I did raise a complaint with vrbo concerning this but have heard nothing back.
The reason i waited a week before writing my review is, aside from the flat being misadvertised and even despite the breach of trust by letting people into our accommodation without permission we had a great time away. We wouldn’t look to book this accommodation again but will definitely definitely be returning to this particular area of London very soon.
