Hosting here is a joy—we love helping guests unwind, explore local heritage, and enjoy simple pleasures like lakeside walks, fresh market produce, and evenings by the fireplace. Whether you're seeking adventure or tranquillity, we’ve created a space that feels like home, with thoughtful touches and plenty of local tips to make your stay memorable..

Why they chose this property

When we first discovered Casteljaloux, it felt like stepping into a slower, gentler rhythm of life. Les Chênes du Gueymut, tucked among oak trees and open fields, instantly spoke to us—it had history, warmth, and a quiet charm that’s hard to describe until you’ve stood in its garden at sunset, listening to birdsong and watching the light shift across the countryside.

What I love most about the area is how effortlessly it invites you to unwind. Mornings start with fresh pastries from town, afternoons might be spent swimming at Lac de Clarens or strolling through the forest, and evenings are best enjoyed by the warming fireplace with a glass of local wine. Hosting here is a joy—I get to share a place that’s brought me peace, and help guests discover the simple pleasures that make this corner of South-West France so special.

What makes this property unique

What makes Les Chênes du Gueymut stand out for me is the feeling it gives the moment you arrive—like the world slows down and exhales. When we first saw the place, surrounded by oak trees and open fields, it wasn’t just the building’s charm that drew us in—it was the atmosphere. There’s something grounding about the quiet here, the way the light filters through the trees, and how the fireplace warms the room after a walk through the forest or a dip in Lac de Clarens.

We’ve stayed in plenty of places over the years, but this one felt different. It has character without being fussy, space without feeling remote, and comfort without losing its rustic soul. What I love most is seeing guests settle in—whether it’s a family sharing a meal in the garden, or a couple curled up by the fire with a book. It’s not just a gîte; it’s a place to pause, reconnect, and feel at home in nature. That’s what makes it special to me.
