About this property
Kestrel Perch - Boise Hilltop Retreat
Named after the smallest of North American falcons, which nest in nearby trees, "Kestrel's Perch" was recently reimagined - from the bottom up - in the spirit of a comfortable mid-century hilltop retreat, emphasizing the property's spectacular views of the Valley, private setting and access to the surrounding amenities of northwest Boise.
The 1000 sq ft home features a large master bedroom, 2nd bedroom (also nicely suitable as office), well-lit kitchen/living room and italian-tiled bathroom.
The Space
Deirdre and I spent almost six months renovating "Kestrel's Perch", making design and layout choices that, we hope, will make for a truly special travel experience for our guests. The result is a crisp, clean, uncluttered space that's been accentuated by furniture choices and features that enhance the comfort and natural appeal of "The Perch's" hilltop setting. It's definitely not a stretch to use the cliched phrase "one-of-a-kind" property to describe the Kestrel's Perch.
The 1000 sq. ft. home features a large master bedroom, second bedroom with captain's bunk-style queen bed (also nicely suitable as an office), well-lit kitchen/living room and italian-tiled bathroom. The kitchen is fully outfitted with new stainless-steel appliances, quartz countertops and spacious white cabinets.
Our guests who find themselves in Boise on a business venture will be pleased to note the wall-to-wall, built-in desk (with drawers) in the second bedroom, should the lovely terrace prove to be too much of an indulgent distraction.
In addition to plenty of closet space, the large utility room (with new washer/dryer) may also be used to store bikes, skis or other gear securely.
An ample carport will keep you and your vehicle dry and cool, in the case of inclement or unseasonably hot weather.
In addition to all the basic amenities, Kestrel's Perch also comes equipped with:
- small kitchen appliances such as juicer, bullet blender, food processor, crock pot and coffee grinder
- two 50" HD televisions, one in the living room and one in the master bedroom
- covered backyard patio
- outdoor table/seating for four
- garden benches
- large Weber BBQ
Guest Access
A large carport provides a nice dry environment to the front entry of "The Perch". Guests will be provided with a unique code to keypad-enabled deadbolt on the front door. Backdoor and Utility Room also have separate access ways.
The Neighborhood
Just off the northend foothills travel corridor of Hill Road, the home's location is a convenient headquarters to access to shopping (5 min), downtown (10 min), Boise's "Ridge To Rivers" system (Stewart Gulch trailhead is 1/2 mile away @ Hillside Jr. High) or Hwy 55 for longer excursions north to recreational towns like Garden Valley or McCall.

About the host
Hosted by Jeff Abrams

Born in southern California and having grown up in Malibu, I've traipsed across much of the west, including Humboldt County (CA), Big Cottonwood Cyn (UT), Iliamna (AK) and coastal Oregon before setting roots for the last 20+ years in Boise.
I worked as a fisheries biologist, here in Idaho, before founding and managing the Treasure Valley's only community radio station, Radio Boise (tune in to 89.9 or 93.5 fm when you're in town!). I'm now working for a media start-up, as customer relations manager, and am transitioning into life as a HUSBAND, as Deirdre and I got married last summer!
Deirdre makes profound impressions on young people, as a 5th grade teacher, in the mountain town of McCall - 2 hours north of Boise - and is the amazing mother of two girls, Olivia (13) and Catherine (11).
We love to spend time sharing our love and respect of the outdoors with our girls and feel SO blessed to be living amongst the incredible beauty of Idaho.
