About this property

The logger's cottage made entirely of logs

The chalet du bucheron was built entirely of spruce logs by the owner, it is located in a small, very calm valley, facing due south, it is sunny all year round. It is an ideal place for lovers of the nature and the mountains, to rest and recharge. The village is located between the Champ du Feu and Mont Saint Odile, you can very well go for a walk or hike from the chalet. In the town of Hohwald we have 4 very well-marked walking circuits. The chalet is also well placed for sightseeing, we are between Strasbourg and Colmar 6km from the Alsace wine route.
I would like to detail some supplements / for firewood / small wood / fire starter 35euro according to seasons 25 euro.
For sheets the tenant can bring his own sheets or rent them at 15 euro per person. For our friends dogs and cats there will be an additional 20 euro

Great place but...

This is a great place to stay but there are a couple of things you should be aware of, the dry toilet is basically a bucket and sawdust, it's set in a very nice pine bench but needs emptying into a compost heap. There are mice in the house, to be expected in such a rural setting, but everything needs cleaning before use ( given the toilet you don't want to risk an upset tummy). The stairs are very steep being only 9 treads rather than the normal 13. All that said it's a great lodge with a sauna and looks lovely, set on the edge of the forest with hiking from the doorstep. The shower and bathroom are great and there are really nice public toilets a few minutes drive up the hill. The view from the veranda is amazing and evenings spent there using the BBQ and a bottle of wine are magical.

Besonders schön fand ich die liebevolle Handwerksarbeit, die sich im ganzen Haus gezeigt hat. Trotzdem war alles funktionell und es hat an nichts gefehlt. Jean-Luc war ein hilfsbereiter, zurückhaltender Vermieter. Wir waren ein paar Tage mit Hund über Sylvester da und werden es auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt in der sehr ruhigen und ländlichen Umgebung. Genau das, was wir gesucht hatten. Herr Riegler hat uns sehr freundlich empfangen und zudem auch noch mit frischen Eiern und einem Willkommensgetränk begrüßt. Auf kleine Mängel ist er sofort eingegangen und hat sie abgestellt.

Ein wunderbar idyllisch und ruhig gelegenes Haus. Wer es sauber, durchdacht und dabei trotzdem rustikal mag, kann hier einen wunderbaren Urlaub verbringen. Der Vermieter Jean-Luc ist sehr hilfsbereit. Toll ist das kleine Angebot an Lebensmitteln und Getränken, mit denen man sich per Kasse des Vertrauens den Weg in den nächsten Supermarkt sparen kann.

Herrlich!

Ein toller Aufenthalt, Vermieter sehr freundlich und überhaupt nicht aufdringlich, saubere Unterkunft und vor allem etwas total einzigartiges! Einfach auf der Terrasse lesen, den Vögeln zuhören, Wangen gehen oder die Dörfer in der Umgebung erkunden, und dann abends in die Sauna. Sehr zu empfehlen, und nicht vom der Trockentoilette abschrecken lassen, ist überhaupt nicht schlimm

Une semaine en février dans le chalet du bucheron. A 5 dont trois enfants et un chien. Vraiment super, je recommande à 100%. Emplacement super, l’hôte est d'une gentillesse exceptionnelle. Le chalet est très typique, bien pensé et confortable. Nous y retournerons sans l'ombre d'un doute.

Der Aufenthalt war einfach wunderschön. Viel Natur, viel Wildwasser, schöne Wanderwege. Das Holzhaus war sehr gemütlich. Jean-Luc Ziegler hat alles selbst gemacht,alle Details gepflegt und alles funktioniert gut. Wir konnten immer draußen essen auf dem großen Holzbalkon den der Hund auch geliebt hat.

Eine tolle Gegend für Wanderungen. Sehr ruhige Lage direkt am Wald. Von dort aus viele Wandermöglichkeiten. Die kleinen Orte wirken leider teilweise ausgestorben. Cafe´s sind leider rar. Gaststättenangebot etwas beschränkt. Die Unterkunft war soweit in Ordnung. Nach einer Eingewöhnung waren wir aber zufrieden

Traumhafter Umgebung, gemütliches Haus

Jean-Luc und seine Frau sind sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Uns hat es an nichts gefehlt und die Kommunikation war gut und schnell. Wir sind mit unserem Hund angereist. Im Haus war alles tip-top. Die Umgebung ist ein Traum für Wanderungen oder Rennradtouren.
