About this property
Studio in a Luxury Holiday House at the foot of the hill of Cortona
Small studio in a unique context: an ancient olive oil mill newly converted into an exclusive holiday house. Thanks to accurate architectural restoration, the XVII th century building, perhaps a former monastery due to its “cloister” structure, has been transformed into luxury apartments, situated in a small valley, amid Tuscan olive-groves, cypresses and vineyards. The studio is about 30 m2 with cotto tiles and wooden beams. It has a sofa bed and a table for two persons. It has air conditioned and wi-fi connection, also in the pool area. You can relax after day excursions in the vast garden in common with other co owners (very quiet also in high season) and enjoy the swimming pool . There is also a big table and a barbecue corner, where you can grill the famous “chianina” meat, one of the most delicious local products, together with wines and extra-virgin olive oil.

Why they chose this property
The holiday house is in the small medieval village of Sant’Angelo, at the foot of the hill of Cortona, which is just 3 km away. Next to the building, there is the beautiful church San Michele Arcangelo, dating back to VII- XI centuries. Cortona was founded by the Etruscans, in the past it has been an important city for its strategic and political position. It has medieval walls, renaissance palaces, and a XVI cent. fortress, from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the entire Valdichiana. Nowadays, Cortona is a lively tourist and cultural centre, with its many cafés, restaurants and bric-à-brac markets. Amongst its cultural attractions: the Museo dell’Accademia Etrusca, the Archaelogic Museum, the Teatro Signorelli, that in the summer holds many open air shows, the relevant international COrtona Mix Festival (music, ballet, performing arts). For its location, the holiday house is the ideal place for day trips. Lake Trasimeno, where Hannibal defeated the Romans, is a 10 minutes drive. The Abbazia di Farneta is very close, as well as Arezzo, which holds the biggest antique markets in Italy. Cortona’s territory is at the regional border with Umbria (Perugia, Assisi,Orvieto, Gubbio, Spoleto, Deruta, Pienza). In the opposite direction, you can drive towards Siena and the Chianti area. Besides the countless artistic attractions, Tuscany and Umbria offer unmissable gastronomic itineraries(the wine road). For a wellness break, close Spas are in Rapolano and Chianciano, while for a more active holiday you can try horse riding, tennis, or the newly opened Manzano Spa Golf Club.
