My name is Thanasis, and I have been living in Theisoa for the past 3 years. My favourite pastimes are tending to my garden, cooking, and traveling. With my wife working in Canada and my daughter in London, we are a pretty global family. I love meeting new people from all over the world and though my English is limited, I hope I will be able to share as much information about our beautiful region as I can, to make every guest's stay as authentic and memorable as possible.
Theisoa, named after Ancient Greek Nymph, is a small traditional mountain village in the municipal unit of Andritsaina in southwestern Greece. Lovers or nature and history will find lots to discover in the surrounding areas, the jewel of the region being no doubt the Temple of Apollo Epicurius at Bassae. This famous temple to the god of healing and the sun was built in the middle of the 5th century BC in the lonely heights of the Arcadian mountains. The temple, which has the oldest Corinthian capital yet found, combines the Archaic style and the serenity of the Doric style with some daring architectural features. A visit to the nearby village of Karytaina will reward you with more breathtaking views at the ruins of this ancient Venetian castle. Make sure you catch your breath with some ice cream or ice coffee in your picturesque cafes on your way down. For the more adventurous guests there is also the option of white water rafting in the nearby Lousios River. And for the days you want to stay close to home, why not head down to the abandoned old village by foot and take some pictures among the stone ruins of the houses, now at the mercy of wild vines and fig trees.
