About this property
A Stunning Dorset Thatched Cottage - Dog Friendly with Private Hot Tub
Godwin's Cottage is a beautiful, refurbished 300 year old cottage, situated in the idyllic and peaceful village of Moreton, resting place of the legendary T. E Lawrence aka Lawrence of Arabia. The property and its surrounding area is steeped in history, beautiful countryside with the Jurassic Coastline just down the road. Godwin's has all the essentials to make your stay wonderful and a few added luxuries that make it that little bit extra special, including your own private roof terrace where you can enjoy a restful breakfast with the morning sun, or a glass of wine and dinner alfresco overlooking the stunning scenery and it is a great space for star gazing. Set within 2 acres of grounds, there is a private lawned area for you to use, ideal for a game of croquet or boule, or a place to unwind with a good book.. Also in the garden is a large fabulous Hot Tub to relax in while gazing over the countryside or watch the owls fly by at night time.

About the host
Hosted by Ruth Turnbull
A little about us - Mike and Ruth. Our home Hedera Cottage is attached to Godwin's Cottage. Mike has lived here for a good many years and has worked long and hard on updating the cottages and grounds. It was in need of a bit of TLC when he took it on. He is a digital marketeer by trade and can be found a lot of the time sat at the kitchen table drinking masses of coffee tapping away on his keyboard. Ruth joined Mike a while ago after moving back to the UK after working in France for 17 years running a large Chateau. Furry Friends - Lulu an elderly black Labrador that is the Head of the family, Gordie another black Lab who likes to think he is head of the family and Harley our soft and loving Irish Wolfhound and Percy & Mayzee, 2 black cats who look down in disdain at the silly dogs. The garden is partitioned off so the animals will not disturb you, but are more than happy to play with new friends if you would like that. Occasionally the 2 daughters of the family return, normally when in need of a roast dinner or a bank balance top up. At the moment they are working hard and travelling the world.
Why they chose this property
Godwins is a place where you can totally unwind and relax. The property is edged by Laurel hedges at the front, surrounded by it's own grounds, approximately 2 acres and edged by open fields at the back and a horse paddock at the bottom of the garden. It is totally secluded and peaceful. All you tend to hear is the night time hooting of the owls, the morning song of the birds, the occasional bark of a deer (or dog!) and the whirring of the pheasant as he and his partner like to feed from our bird table ! So although being able to get into the hustle and bustle of the towns and tourists down the road, it is a haven to come back to in the evening and relax.
What makes this property unique
With the Cottages being approximately 300 years old and thatched, they are the quintessential aspect of the English countryside. They have masses of history. The property was the Estate Managers home for years and years. We have added to Godwin's a spectacular roof terrace which comes off the bedroom as we think it is an ideal place for a morning breakfast and some rest time and absolutely amazing for star-gazing and watching summer storms or watch the young Tawny Owls learning to fly from the roof terrace. The added addition of the Hot Tub in the garden adds a little more space to unwind and relax.
