Would highly recommend staying here.
Would highly recommend staying here. Felt very "safe" and clean on arrival. Love the location. Braithwaite is a beautiful little village and we will definitely want to come back at some time and stay in the same place. Had everything (and more) that we needed. Really wonderful stay.
Really wonderful stay. We were so grateful to get away post lockdown. The location is perfect - we went on three major walks in different directions from the front door. We enjoyed the lovely local shop with fresh bread and croissants daily, three pubs, and being 2 miles from Keswick for bigger needs, including an usually good Thai takeaway from Star of Siam. Everything in the cottage works very well with great shower, comfortable living room and beautiful sunny garden with view of the hills. There wasnā€™t really any pub noise despite being opposite, and having no fuss parking on site is great. Perfect! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Lovely cottage which looks to have been fairly recently refurbished with a new kitchen and bathroom.
Lovely cottage which looks to have been fairly recently refurbished with a new kitchen and bathroom. Very clean and well stocked for kitchen equipment. It provided a lovely base to explore the north west Lake District. My only complaint was that the mattress on the double bed was a bit saggy in the middle and that there was some noise on a couple of early evenings from the pub next door as they are serving mostly to outdoor customers at the moment. Donā€™t let this put you off though as the location, facilities and cleanliness of the cottage made it worth booking. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

My husband, baby and I had a lovely stay at Acorn Cottage.
My husband, baby and I had a lovely stay at Acorn Cottage. Itā€™s in the lovely little village of Braithwaite near Bassenthwaite Lake. There are several mountain walks which you can do from the centre of the village and Whinlatter Forest is a short drive away. Afterwards the Royal Oak pub is immediately opposite the cottage for a nice cold pint. The village has a shop, 2 pubs and a tea room and a lovely campsite with another shop. Keswick is a short drive away for more amenities including a cracking fish and chip shop. The cottage is warm and cosy, with a modern kitchen, utility room and bathroom. The bedrooms are comfy and have decent storage. There is no noise from the pub except the daily bottle collection which is over quickly and takes place during day hours. There are lovely views of the mountains from all windows, and because I was up early with the baby I got to enjoy some gorgeous sunrises. Some of the rooms could benefit from a bit of modernising and a more comfy sofa and more chunky pillows would be great. But these do not detract from a wonderful stay.

Excellent location for us , quiet and peaceful , beautiful views of the fells from windows , a place
Excellent location for us , quiet and peaceful , beautiful views of the fells from windows , a place to sit out if the weather allows .Acorn cottage was clean , comfortable , Kitchen well equipped for eating ,although could have done with an idiots guide for working the cooker hob . Good eating places in walking distance , with the pubs in the village and a small but welcoming shop ,with Keswick 5 minutes away in car there were more amenities close . Love the northern lakes area as it is quieter , but could drive further with spectacular views to visit the more popular tourist places also . Cottage quite expensive in peak period but slept 5 so if you were sharing the cost it would be more reasonable .
