Fantastic cottage

This was more like someone's home that they had lent to us. It had everything you could possibly need. It was lovingly furnished and had lovely little decorative additions. The beds and 3 piece suite were amazingly comfortable. The weather was perfect, but the cottage would be cosy even if it wasn't.

A wonderful location - to sit in comfort and enjoy such a tremendous every changing view of the sea, sky and hills was a joy. The views from the front of the house and conservatory were spectacular. The house was well decorated, clean and warm - the bathrooms and bedrooms were particularly well done. Lovely walks and bicycle rides from the front door. We encountered a fascinating range of wild-life - including a pod of dolphins as we walked the foreshore. The local shop was brilliant and there were good supermarkets in Tain. Perfection! Sandy's Hoose is an amazing holiday cottage in a super seaside village.

Perfection! Sandy's Hoose is an amazing holiday cottage in a super seaside village. Firstly, the area is fabulous; several eateries (though we only visited our favourite Castle Inn, just a few minutes walk away), and a great little shop which stocks an amazing range of items. Great walks from the front door and further afield there are lots of interesting places to visit. But back to Sandy's Hoose - it's just wonderful. Sitting in the front conservatory was a delight - comfortable, light and the most amazing view. The sitting room was also very comfortable; we didn't need to light the log burner as we visited in late September, and we only put the oil-fired heating on for an hour or so during the whole stay. The kitchen is the best equipped holiday home kitchen we have ever been in (even managed to whip up a soup one day as there was a hand blender.... if I was adept at cooking, I could have created a cordon rouge meal!). The rear conservatory was ideal for eating up to table, and playing lots of board games. Having a downstairs loo was very useful; and of course there's the en suite attached to the very comfortable downstairs bedroom. Upstairs were two very good sized bedrooms and a full bathroom. In these strange Covid times, it was good to know that the property had been exceptionally well cleaned - hand sanitiser was just inside the property, and disposable face masks in case anyone had forgotten theirs (we are now very accomplished at having masks at the ready, so didn't need to use them, but it was one of those nice touches that made Sandy's Hoose such a great property). Finally, and I won't give anything away to spoil anyone's surprise, there was a super thoughtful and tasty welcome pack. What could be better! Sandy's Hoose gets absolutely top marks for being a great holiday home. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

A great cottage in a superb location, Portmahomack (the Port) is an hidden oasis of calm. There is a great beach right across the road, you can enjoy the views and the sunsets from the comfortable porch. The icing on the cake is the new wood burning stove, although the house is a warm house but I do like a good fire :)

Really lovely cottage in a perfect location.

Really lovely cottage in a perfect location. In the twenty years we’ve been using Welcome Cottages Group this is the best cottage ever. A very special Welcome Pack (won’t spoil the surprise) was a really nice surprise as we been to more expensive cottages and there has never been one. We had decided we would definitely book this cottage again but unfortunately I lost my Husband whilst we were away so won’t return. The owners were so kind and sent me a beautiful flower arrangement which made me feel at least there are some really good people about.

This was our second visit to Sandy's Hoose and our fourth to Portmahomack.

This was our second visit to Sandy's Hoose and our fourth to Portmahomack. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable with everything there that you could possibly need. There are two possible negatives in that the garden is not totally secure so you do have to be careful with dogs and of course children and also it would be a tight squeeze seating 6 people in the front conservatory if everyone wanted to sit out there but neither of those impacted on the enjoyment of our holiday. There is plenty to see and do in the local area if you are prepared to drive around.

Loved the location, cottage was clean and well equipped. Shame not an enclosed garden, then it would have been 10 out of 10. Locals extremely friendly, the cafe was lovely, full of local crafts. The Castle pub allows dogs, meal was excellent and plenty of vegetarian choices. The Tarbet Museum is worth a look, will definitely come back.

Had a wonderful stay at Sandy's Hoose, a stone's throw from one of the most beautiful beaches and with a unique view of the east coast on the doorstep. There is a well stocked shop open until the late evening and plenty interest around the village for little walks. Tain and Dornoch are no more than a twenty minute drive away, with cafe's, shops and beaches to entertain.
