Well equipped, comfortable cottage in a beautiful location.
We read reviews before our stay so came prepared with anything needed for the week, which I would advise. However, the remoteness is what makes the area a wonderful place to visit.
Thoroughly enjoyed stargazing in the hot tub, using knowledge gained at the observatory.
Would also recommend the local pub, the anglers arms.

Kielder Cottage is perfect for a get away from it all break in a stunning location.
Kielder Cottage is perfect for a get away from it all break in a stunning location. The cottage is very well equipped and nice and clean. I loved the novelty of being upside down in the cottage. On-site owners who are extremely helpful and friendly. At the moment with pandemic the nearest pub was closed, be prepared to take provisions with you. The hot tub is perfect to relax after a days walking or cycling around the area. We enjoyed our stay so much we booked for next year before we’d even left!

VERY FRIENDLY, HOSPITABLE, HELPFUL OWNERS.
VERY FRIENDLY, HOSPITABLE, HELPFUL OWNERS. BEAUTIFUL SCENERY. COMFORTABLE COTTAGE. LOVELY HOT TUB. BE SURE TO TAKE INITIAL SUPPLIES OR BOOK AN ONLINE DELIVERY, AS THERE ARE NO LOCAL SHOPS NEARBY, BUT THE OWNERS ARE VERY APPROACHABLE AND WILL GIVE ADVICE ON WHAT YOU NEED TO TAKE WITH YOU. IT IS OUT-OF-THE-WAY, BUT THAT IS IT'S ATTRACTION.
A WONDERFULL HOLIDAY, THANK YOU.

In the middle of nowhere
Accommodation was ok but location very isolated. Very difficult to find from instructions and the midges were rife so could not enjoy the hot tub or outside patio at all.

Lovely cottage, very comfortable.
Lovely cottage, very comfortable. Owners on site in main house, friendly and approachable, but in no way intrusive. Great location, for getting away from it all, with lots of fabulous walks on your doorstep with breathtaking views. If visiting in Summer make sure you are prepared with midge repellant. Also a fair drive to any shops so again be prepared. The Street Diner at nearby Kielder Castle was open whilst we were there and had fantastic food to take away- they have a Facebook page.

Great house in a lovely location, away from it all, with everything we could need for our family wit
Great house in a lovely location, away from it all, with everything we could need for our family with our 3 young/adult children and a large beast; Sarah and family were more than helpful and our dog enjoyed romping with their pack! However local amenities in terms of shop and eating out were limited because of COVID, so can't comment on the local pub, village shop or castle unfortunately. Consequently we drove more then we'd planned. In our two weeks we....canoed, walked the dog in the forest and visited the Minotaur maze (that's fun and thought we'd lost the dog!), cycled (cycle hire at the bottom of the hill is great and we even tried an electric bike), mountain biked on pretty challenging, technical trails, visited Hexham, Newcastle and Angel of the North, Edinburgh, Durham, Bamburgh castle and beach. A visit to Vindolanda was fascinating. Kitchen was well equipped for evening meals, lots of fridge space (we stocked up as no nearby shops) and the hot tub was a bonus! The only problem was the midgies but got some spray and that worked well. Local driving was fun as many local roads are Roman - up and down with lots of blind summits but dead straight....quite different!

Love this place.
Love this place. Been coming every year for the last 6 years. Lovely little cottage which has been upgraded each year we have attended and is getting nicer and nicer. My only issue is the beds arent very comfortable especially the master bedroom. I always return from my visit with back pain. Apart from that we love the place and have already booked again for next year. Our favourite thing is to relax in the hot tub looking up at the stars. We seen seen several shooting stars during our visit last weekend. It was amazing.

This was a perfect holiday - we have been to Kielder before but never stayed at Kielder Cottage. We were aware of how remote the location is so the lack of shops etc. didn't bother us, which is why everything gets a 10. The cottage and setting was beautiful, our hosts absolutely lovely, and the weather was kind to us. If you enjoy fresh air and the countryside, this is the place for you.
Great wee cottage in a stunning location. Well equipped and owners couldn’t be nicer or more helpful. Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay!

The cottage was chosen for it's location and the type of break we wanted and was comfortable, clean, well equiped and in a quiet location. On arrival we were met by the owner (Dave) who was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. After a long day's walk the hot tub was a nice way to heal aching muscles with the cottage somewhere cosy to relax later in the night.

We had a great time at the cottage.
We had a great time at the cottage. It’s well equipped, clean and nicely decorated, and in a terrific location. The hot tub is a great feature and we enjoyed hours in it even in freezing temperatures.
Our only suggestions are:
- for such a baby-friendly property (high chair and cot supplied) it really needs a stair gate option. We had to use a an armchair which was far from ideal
- there isn’t much glassware. A few wine glasses, some plastic, and only one tumbler
- some utensils and crockery weren’t very well cleaned so we had to re-clean them for use
Otherwise we had a great stay and would definitely return.
