Had a lovely short break in the Murton cottage to extend our holiday in the cottage next door as we were having such a great time and weren’t ready to go home. The cottage is well equipped and pleasantly decorated. It is ideal for a family. The wooden stairs are steep and spiral so perhaps not great for anyone with mobility issues. The setting is quiet and a pleasantly rural location but close to the town by car to get to amenities. So many fantastic places to visit nearby and beautiful beaches. Ideal family holiday!!
Arrived at property, east to find and 2 minutes of the A1 so great location.
Check in and access easy.
Fac I'll lities and standards in the property were great.
Living room is upstairs and we never used as the kitchen dining area was brilliant for cooking eating in and nipping out to garden to catch some sun. Would recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
A lovely location and a roomy property. It would have improved if the garden grass had been cut, the freezer defrosted and the quality of the mugs upgraded. We also missed a shower in the upstairs bathroom. The bath took forever to fill.
Great cottage, great location, couple of maintenance issues
Firstly the cottage was great for the price.Spacious bedrooms lounge and kitchen.Good location just off the A1, fantastically quiet but within minutes of Berwick. The house didn't feel too warm the first night but not sure if that's as it has been empty all week and storage heaters had been turned down, by the second night we were toasty warm pretty much throughout although the kitchen diner is a little chilly. All visible areas, crockery, cutlery and ovens were lovely and clean and the provision of dishwasher tablets is great only grow here is under beds and sofas could do with a dust. Couple of maintenance issueswere the only real detractors, a broken front gate, underfloor heating in the downstairs bathroom didn't work and no other source of heating in there and a few more minor bits. Overall though great cottage in a great location, sorry the maintenance and it's easy 5*.

A barn in an old farm, which has been converted into six terraced holiday cottages.
A barn in an old farm, which has been converted into six terraced holiday cottages. Nothing else (except a riding school) is anywhere near, but the friendly farmer let us walk around his fields, and there is a great view over Berwick from the top of a nearby hill.
Contents are clean but a bit SCART-era. For example, there is no Wi-Fi. It isn’t listed, but surely these days its *absence* should be listed. You should ask come entirely self-sufficient - only a dribble in the bottom of a bottle of hand soap was provided, and no laundry powder etc; in this price bracket I’ve got used to not having to drive to a supermarket for toilet rolls during a weekend away.
There is only one shower, in the en-suite, and none of the bathroom doors lock. But we solved the previous reviewer’s problem with hot water. True, there is only enough in the tank for one bath, but there is an immersion heater with switch under the stairs that heats it up in about an hour.
Quiet and peaceful.

This cottage is much larger than the photos suggest with plenty of space for 6 adults. The enclosed garden has a lovely lawn area for children or dogs as well as a large outdoor table seating 6. The property was very clean and well equipped for cooking simple meals. The lounge is upstairs but the kitchen/diner is a great socialising space. Location feels remote but is actually very close to amenities and a perfect base for exploring Berwick, Lindisfarne, Bamburgh etc. We brought 2 cars and parking was not a problem. We would happily rent this cottage again.

We’ve stayed here for years but this time it wasn’t nearly as clean as previous years. One of the beds had crumbs in it. Lots of cobwebs and dirt in corners and under furniture. Much different to previous visits. Spider in the freezer also!

We have stayed here before so knew the score.
We have stayed here before so knew the score. Really nice cottage, has everything we need. It could do with a good clean. Stairs hadn't even been swept. Dirt and dust under the mat in entrance. Cobwebs in the kitchen. I don't rate the cleaner at all. We liked our 2nd time around but we won't be going back due to the stairs you have to climb to get to the living room. They are not 10 year old Collie friendly nor are they older person friendly. This feature should REALLY be mentioned in the description when booking. The stairs are not user friendly and inhibit your use of the cottage. We are fine with it but other people might not be. I got a shock first time around when I found the living room upstairs and the uncarpeted stairs you have to climb to get there. We took mats this time to help the situation.

The cottage is great but I had problems with access as both cars in our party grounded on entry to the property and for the rest of the week everybody had to get out of the cars and walk round to the cottage
We also had problems with parking.
A great cottage if you have plenty of ground clearance on your vehicle.

The attractively converted steading cottage was cosy and very up to date. The King size bed was comfortable but I think one or two of the single beds had mattresses only suitable for children's weight.

We had a great couple of days staying here. No real complaints other than some cleanliness issues - dirty underwear found in a wardrobe from a previous guest, dirty dishes in the cupboards and just generally very dusty so attention to detail could be improved. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay.
