A very cosy and well-equipped cottage for 2, in a rural setting.
A very cosy and well-equipped cottage for 2, in a rural setting. We brought bikes with us, so access to the garage to store them was much appreciated, and the local very quiet roads were perfect for cycling. From this central location we were able to visit Kielder, the coast and various Hadrian's Wall locations by car during our week in Northumberland. Our hosts were helpful and friendly, and the welcome basket was very generous and thoughtful. A lovely week away and we would visit again. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We would not hesitate to recommend The Gin Gan Cottage for a restful, very comfortable break - set in a peaceful location but within a very short drive of most of the amenities anyone would require. The setting is beautiful and the cottage surprisingly spacious, very cosy and clean, with two outside seating areas for guests. The hosts, Michelle and Rob, are naturally very hospitable and friendly people, who obviously place great importance on the comfort and satisfaction of guests. We were greeted warmly and provided with some new-laid eggs, from their chickens, and a very generous welcome basket. Even if you did not have time to shop on the way, you would not lack for breakfast provisions on the first morning! There are many local places of interest, which can still be enjoyed under the current restrictions, including walks along the Northumberland coast [a reasonable drive away] and the many nearby beautiful gardens which are open to the public. We particularly enjoyed Belsay Hall, with its spectacular Quarry Garden, and Whalton Manor [ privately owned, but you can phone to book an appointment]. There is also, of course, Hadrian's Wall nearby, with other Roman sites of interest. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay, and would definitely return. Beautiful accommodation with lots of character. Stayed there for just 4 nights but so much space a longer break would have been very comfortable. Good location for exploring the countryside and towns. Michelle and Robin were friendly and helpful. Felt at home. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
