This terraced cottage, built in 1780, originally formed part of a ropery and boasts private parking for two cars, a sociable kitchen hub, living area, three comfortable bedrooms and a courtyard garden, which is perfect for relaxing in after a day at the beach, which is just a short walk away. The ground floor of this property has undergone extensive refurbishment in 2021 and benefits from a new kitchen and bathroom.
This vibrant, bustling town is ideal for those who want something to do, with its marina, beaches, abbey and festivals. Ideally placed for exploring the cobbled back street shops, indoor market, abbey, church and a 3-mile stretch of golden sand. Whitby is a fishing town that is home to many amazing events throughout the year, including the bi-annual Goth Weekender, an annual folk festival, Christmas Festival and the Whitby Regatta. Alongside this, Whitby attracts visitors from all over who love to sample the many bars, restaurants, cafés and tea rooms, as well as museums and galleries. Take a walk up the 199 steps to the gothic abbey, made famous by Bram Stoker’s novel ’Dracula’, for a breathtaking view across the town, or jump on board one of the tourist boats that sail out for a different view of the town. You can even do a spot of whale watching at the right time of year.
Heading out into the North York Moors National Park you will find fantastic scenery in some of England’s finest countryside. Perfect for walkers, make your own unique trail across the bracken and heather, or join up with the Cleveland Way or the Cinder Track for a recognised route. Whether its waterfalls such as Falling Foss, or stunning coastline and bays such as Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, there is a photo opportunity at every stop.
Heading further afield, there is the Yorkshire Dales and the medieval walled city of York. Eden Camp wartime museum is just a short drive away in Pickering, as is Flamingo Land Theme Park. There are plenty of abbeys and stately homes to visit in the area and traditional seaside resorts such as Scarborough, with its waterpark and regular concerts at the open-air theatre. There is even a steam train that snakes its way through the North York Moors from Whitby, allowing you to enjoy the scenery from the comfort of your seat. Beach ¼ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
