Not what signed up for

We chose the property for the 2 bedrooms with 2nd bedroom having 2 beds as described. We were "upgraded" to a unit farther away from beach/pool that only had one bed in 2nd bedroom and trundle beds in living room. Always waiting on shuttle buses. Room service food was not desirable. other than that property was nice.

Hopefully Improves with time

The property is not as well kept, staffed or clean as it has been in the past. I believe, like most establishments, it is still recovering from the shortage of experienced persodue to the pandemic. We had booked this reservation because it was at The Bliss. However, after I checked in online, we were scheduled for the Grand Mayan. The mold in the room was a very challenging aspect to our stay, as our family is highly allergic. We also had other family that was located at the Bliss, and were disappointed that we were not closer to them,

Beautiful but big

My family went to this resort for our first vacation since the pandemic. The resort is beautiful, but very big. Check-in is somewhat confusing as we ended up being taken to three different front desks before they finally figured out where we were supposed to be because the documentation we received wasn’t where we were staying. Besides the difficult check-in process, we were not prepared to deal with very rude and persistent vacation sales representatives at the hotels. While we really enjoyed our stay, and enjoyed all the people who worked for the hotels, the people in sales ruined our vacation. When we first checked in, we were essentially held hostage in the lobby for over an hour before we could be allowed to go to our room to start our trip. The only way we could get out of the lobby was to agree to go to a one hour breakfast and hear about a sales pitch. Despite my wife and kids’ objection, we got up and went to the breakfast. When we got there, we were mediately asked to provide our passports and a credit card. When we declined and said we would pass on breakfast, the sales lady got belligerent and started yelling at my wife and kids. When we raised this issue with the concierge of our upgraded hotel, we were told that everybody who comes and complains about the vacation club sales people, but there’s nothing that can be done. The lady at the desk told us we should consider ourselves lucky because we didn’t go to the breakfast which ends up being a four hour or longer ordeal for most people. Almost every person we met, who was also vacationing while we were there, said they had a similar experience some went to the breakfast. Some left the breakfast, and got yelled at others, stuck around and got handed off to different sales pitches for a half a day or longer, While I understand this is part of the resort business. It would’ve been appreciated if the listing gave us a heads up how bad it is. Given our interaction with some of the people at the hotel, no matter how wonderful the facility is we won’t be going back

Amazing Family Vacation

The Mayan Palace is a fantastic family vacation spot. On the first day my children made new friends and played with them the rest of the week. The resort is quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and extremely family oriented. Golf course is in great shape and lots of fun to play. Again, it is family oriented as it is a par 3. Pool side cabanas are a must, but be careful, they must be rented a day in advance and they "sell" out very quickly. Our room was exactly as advertised, but to be honest, we spent very little time in there. The resort staff is extremely friendly and very detail oriented. Morning cleaning service and evening turn down service. They would leave little chocolates and notes for our kids giving us a very personalized service experience. We had a group of 15 and it was necessary to make reservations 48 hours in advance. The food was awesome everywhere we ate and again, service was amazing. My daughter is a very picky eater and they really went out of their way to ensure she was taken care of. If you have a family, you must go to this resort. You will not be sorry.

Jeremy and I live in Montana and have been married for over 17 years. We have two amazing children and while we love Montana, we love to travel - especially to the Mayan Riviera - it is our favorite vacation spot and have been back 5 times over the years. We both grew up in Montana and are thankful to raise our kids here. We are self-employed and so we work hard but cant wait to get out and have fun when it is time for fun!

Why they chose this property

We chose this property because it is centrally located in the Mayan Riviera. It is an easy drive or bus ride from the Cancun airport but yet out of the hustle and bustle of Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. The resort is amazing if you are content to stay put - it offers anything you could want or need while on a relaxing vacation but there are also nearby towns that you can venture to if you want to get out and experience something different. The resort also makes it easy to see the attractions including the Pyramids, Cenotes, the Biological Park. We are a little more adventurous and like to rent a car and make our own way which is a possibility from this resort as well - they also have ample parking for the rental car. Unique to this Vidanta resort are the amazing Cirque du Soleil and Jungala attractions - you'll love both of them! Overall we love this resort and even more so we love the Mayan Riviera
