Architect-designed Barn Conversion With Heated Pool, Champagne/Burgundy Borders

Our two-bedroomed, two-bathroomed gite has beams and exposed stone to remind you of its agricultural origins whilst having all the modern additions that you'd expect from a luxury holiday letting - a spacious kitchen with high-quality appliances, wireless internet, underfloor heating and a wood burning stove. There are no hidden charges in our rental price - linen, electricity, heating (including wood for the stove) and cleaning at the end of your stay are included. Sociable, well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Cirfontaines en Azois is a small village four hours by car from Calais, and also accessible by train. This secret corner of France is almost unknown to tourists yet offers a wide variety of activities and places of interest. But, enticed by the beautiful view of the forest and the south-facing terrace, you may prefer to relax by the solar-heated pool and then watch the sun go down with an aperitif!


Two years after buying our farmhouse as a holiday home we were so seduced by this corner of France that we picked up sticks and moved here. Our gite is a conversion of one of the two barns on our property and, while we are close by if you need help or ideas for making the most of your stay, another large barn separates our house from the gite so you can also enjoy your holiday in seclusion!

Before moving here, we enjoyed many Gite holidays in France and we've applied our experiences, good and bad, in designing and fitting out our property. So, the kitchen has plenty of space for several people to cook at once, there's a utility room to hide dirty boots and dry wet coats and there's a second fridge for keeping sufficient rosé (or Champagne) chilled.

The village is well-placed for you explore the Champagne region and Burgundy. Our visitors have enjoyed local attractions like the historic town of Langres, the De Gaulle museum at Colombey les Deux Eglises and the lakes east of Troyes. And if you fancy a day at a really fun theme park, Nigloland is only a half an hour's drive away.

Paris is also accessible by train.

Great stay with great hosts

We've had a great stay with Sarah and Jonathan. They made us feel very welcome and despite the bad weather they were able to give us plenty of things to do in the area. I'd be very happy recommending this stay for the peace and quiet and the lovely hosts.

Sarah and Jonathan are wonderful hosts and great people. They really made our holiday a relaxing and enjoyable experience.My kids absolutely loved the pool and we all had a fantastic time.The area is rural where you can enjoy relaxing walks and picnics and you are within close driving distance to towns, supermarkets and bakeries.We would definitely recommend this to anyone and would like to visit some of the fairly close vineyards if we were without the kids.We took a trip to the Nigloland theme park which is roughly 25-30 minutes drive away and had an amazing day. Would recommend it to anyone.Thank you Sarah and Jonathan for a great holiday!

Amazing swimming pool and beautiful area.

Sarah and Jonathan are friendly and helpful couple. The property is very nice, big and clean. But the swimming pool is amazing!! When you are sitting there you can enjoy the view which is also amazing. It’s a quiet place. Every morning you will be waking up by the bell of the church in opposite of the property. They have also a dog Cisco who is walking around and visit you to say hi, it’s adorable. If you don’t want that, than close the gate of the swimming pool. Overall we really had a pleasant stay. Thank you

Mooi ruim en comfortabel huis met twee grote badkamers. Bij het zwembad heb je een heerlijk uitzicht op het omringende landschap. De stilte, het gekwetter van de vogels is heel rustgevend. En tot slotte: de eigenaren Sarah en Jonathan zijn geweldig! We hebben al vaak gîtes gehuurd, maar deze eigenaren staan aan de top!

Wir hatten zwei wunderschöne, entspannte Wochen in dem tollen Haus in Cirfontaines-en-Azois. Alles hat gepasst, Sarah und Jonathan sind wirklich perfekte Gastgeber, großes Kompliment! In der näheren Umgebung gibt es viele interessante Ausflugsziele, aber einfach nur Chillen an dem traumhaften Pool macht auch Spaß. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Lovely gite and hosts

We had an excellent week with Sarah and Jonathan, nothing was too much trouble. Provisions provided were very welcome after our long journeys as was the welcome drink by the pool. Sarah arranged a trip to Barfontarc champagne vineyard which was very interesting and made most enjoyable by our guide. The gite is in a good location to visit very interesting places such as Troyes.

Die Gîte bietet alles, um hier einen perfekten Urlaub zu verbringen. Wer Ruhe sucht, findet sie hier, wer wandern gehen will, hat hier mannigfaltige Möglichkeiten dazu, wer sich sportlich betätigen will, der findet hier eine Region vor, in der man weitläufig joggen kann, in der aber auch Radtouren unterschiedlichster Länge möglich sind. Wer die Region und ihre Geschichte kennenlernen will, der findet an zahlreichen Orten dazu vielfältige Möglichkeiten. Und schließlich gibt es noch den hauseigenen Pool, den man exklusiv nutzen kann und dem man wahrscheinlich kaum widerstehen wird. Die Gîte ist geräumig, super ausgestattet und liebevoll eingerichtet. Der Bereich um den Pool bietet tagsüber einen wunderschönen Blick auf die Wälder der Umgebung und nach Sonnenuntergang die Möglichkeit, den Sternenhimmel zu genießen. Sarah und Jonathan sind perfekte Gastgeber. Am Tag der Anreise erwartete uns ein kleiner kulinarisch-französischer Einstieg in die vielfältigen Spezialitäten der Region. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und über die gesamte Dauer unseres Aufenthaltes war der Kontakt mit beiden ungezwungen und äußerst herzlich. Ohne aufdringlich zu sein, waren beide stets für unsere Fragen und Wünsche da. Und auch unsere Hündin hat sich hier von Anfang an rundum wohl gefühlt. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen! Liebe Sarah, lieber Jonathan, vielen Dank, dass ihr hier einen solch traumhaften Ort für eine rundum perfekten Urlaub geschaffen habt!

What a wonderful week! The gite is superb, the best we have stayed in and we have stayed in a few in our time. Sarah and Jonathan are the perfect hosts, with nothing being too much trouble. Sarah even managed to organise a cake for my husband, as due to previous delays due to Covid, his birthday fell on the day we arrived. All this mixed with beautiful French countryside made for a fabulous holiday which we were all very sad to see the back of. Thank you both. x

Zalig vakantie huis

Wat een fijn en schoon vakantie huis. Het is echt schoon, dat is zo aangenaam. Het zwembad is groot en kun je heel fijn in zwemmen. Je hoeft geen handdoeken, theedoeken, peper, zout of wc papier mee te nemen. Dat is er allemaal. Sarah en Jonathan zijn zo aardig, staan voor je klaar. Als je vragen hebt zoeken ze het uit en geven de info aan je. Onze hond RR speelde heel erg graag met hun hond. Het huis is groot en koel. 2 badkamers met heerlijke douches. Voor grotere steden moet je wat verder rijden. In de buurt kun je heerlijk wandelen. Het is er ook rustig mbt geluid. Wij hebben een heerlijke vakantie gehad.

A truely relaxing experience in an ideal tiny village

We stayed here during one of the hottest periods in 2022. The pool was an ideal place to cool off and the gite had very thick walls so was cool. The welcome food and drink was very well received after the drive from Calais. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts and our dogs loved the freedom of the grounds.

Entspannungs pur

Wir wurden sehr freundlich von Sarah und Jonathan empfangen. Sogar der Kühlschrank war gefüllt mit Käse, Milch und selbstgemachter Marmelade. Wein, Obst, Salat und Kaffee waren ebenfalls vorhanden. Das Haus ist bestens ausgestattet und auch bei sehr warmen Temperaturen angenehm kühl. Hier bleiben hinsichtlich der Ausstattung keine Wünsche offen, einzig das Bett hätte etwas größer sein dürfen. Wir wurden täglich mit Baguettes und Croissants nach Wunsch beliefert und Sarah und Jonathan sind die perfekten Gastgeber. Nie aufdringlich und immer erreichbar. Bei einem gemütlichen Beisammensein erfuhren wir alles, was es in der Umgebung zu entdecken und erleben gibt. Der Höhepunkt dieser Unterkunft ist aber der täglich gepflegte, perfekt temperierte, private Pool, den man am liebsten gar nicht verlassen möchte. Auch unsere Hündin wurde herzlich empfangen und wäre wohl gerne dort geblieben, zumal sie sich sehr über den Kontakt zu den beiden freundlichen Hunden der Gastgeber gefreut hat, den man aber auch problemlos vermeiden kann, falls man keinen Kontakt wünscht. Alles in Allem ein toller und erholsamer Urlaub...wir werden wiederkommen! Danke Sarah und Jonathan 💚

This property was much larger than expected and very well appointed. Our hosts Sarah & Johnathan could not be more accommodating. Unfortunately the weather was not as kind to us as hoped, so we were unable to use the pool as much as expected. Only negative was the condition of the pool furniture, which could do with replacing. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Wonderful holiday rental in the French countryside

We stayed 4 nights in Sarah and Jonathan's wonderful Gite, and we never wanted to leave. Sarah and Jonathan were gracious hosts and their Gite provided the perfect location to our stay in the champagne region. From the moment we arrived our hosts did everything to ensure we had a pleasant stay. They welcomed us with some champagne, helped provide suggestions of places to visit, arranged a tour at a nearby champagne house and set up daily croissant delivery! On our final day we had some car troubles, and they were kind enough to lend us supplies so we could make it home safely. They were also considerate of our privacy which allowed us to relax and enjoy to serenity of the property. The Gite was very comfortable, we traveled with two small children and our mother-in-law. Sarah and Jonathan were very accommodating in allowing the additional guest. The region of France is lovely, there is something for everyone! Relaxation, bike rides, an amusement and champagne tasting!! We can't wait to plan our next stay at Sarah and Jonathan's Gite!

Beautiful Cosy place🧡

A perfect place for family weekend! We came with our baby (a month yr old) and my mum. We all absolutely loved the house and enjoyed our stay from beginning to the end. geweldig verblijf

overtrof onze verwachtingen. geweldig huisje met alles erop en eraan. Sarah en Jonathan hebben ons een fantastische week bezorgd. Prima gastheer en gastvrouw. Het zwembad en de omgeving was de "kers "op de taart". Wie van rust houdt, lange wandelingen willen maken, fietsen in de omgeving of met de auto naar Troyes wil. ga hier op vakantie. Neem tot slot een fles Champagne mee en je vakantie kan echt niet meer stuk. Superbé

Een hele mooie week in Cirfontaines en Azois

Met ons vieren genoten van een prachtige vakantie in een supermooi huis. Heel gastvrij ontvangen door Sarah en Jonathan! Met een glaasje en een hapje hebben we buiten alle informatie doorgenomen. En wat een schoon, ruim en comfortabel huis met een grote en goed uitgeruste keuken. Alles was aanwezig, zelfs meer dan je zou verwachten. Dank voor alle extra lekkernijen! Het zwembad maakte het verblijf helemaal af. Kortom: een aanrader voor wie weinig wil doen (zwembad en tv aanwezig) of actief aan de gang wil (lekker wandelen in de omgeving of een stad bezoeken).
