Casa Sofia, very excellent
Beautiful casa, just close enough to town and beach!
Enjoyed our stay
Accommodations were better than expected and the location was perfect. Felt like home on our second day.
Summary of conditions
We really enjoyed the town of Sayulita.
Although the conditions of the house were were overall good, the following are in need of improvement:
- There was no air conditioning system for the upper and lower level central locations. For this reason we will not likely revisit the property since the temperature was at least 90 degrees and quite humid, and real uncomfortable during social gatherings and sleeping on the sofa/beds. Major cooling system design flaw.
- The toilet seat for the lower level rear bathroom was damaged and falling off the toilet base.
- There were no linens initially provided for the sofa/beds and nobody on sight to manage the issue.
- The house keeper (lady) was not very attentive. We ended doing the dishes.
- There was response by the house keeper when we called the phone numbers to express our concerns.
- Since the Upper area living room was so hot, it was imposible to sleep there. So, we had to move the sofa cushions to one of the bedrooms that was air conditioned.
For the cost of the rental property we had hoped for for better service. Therefore we tipped accordingly.
I am so sorry you were not fully comfortable during your stay. We really wished you had reached out to us about the AC issue – if you had we could have had someone fix the problem ASAP. It is usually just a simple issue with the control being deprogrammed accidentally and takes but a few moments to correct. We do apologize that the cleaning service wasn’t great that week. It is true our usual super hero chief housekeeper was visiting her mother out of state that week and we’ll let her know to not use this temporary replacement again. As you can see from the reviews below our level of service is consistently quite high and our guests love their stay with us. I am sorry you did not, and only wished you had reached out to Katherine and I, we certainly could have attended to these concerns immediately and you would have a better stay with us.
I would like to say that if you are lucky enough to be able to stay here it’s a bit like winning a lottery! ( I’m guessing! )
The home, property and staff are all wonderful and in perfect condition. The location could not be any better for quick access to the beautiful beach and the charming Mexican village.
Aaron and his assistant Katherine make everything so easy for the vacationer. We were pleasantly greeted upon our early arrival by Martin and allowed to leave our luggage while we took lunch. We were also very happy to discover that we were welcome to stay a little longer than noted since our return flight was late in the day.
If you are looking for a beautiful, quaint dwelling on a lush private property with a pristine pool this is it.
We have been to several rental properties around the world and this one is very special.
We stayed in Casa Sophia and rented a golf cart for our stay. The cart came in handy but was not nessary if you are able to navigate walking steps and inclines, everything in the village is within easy walking distance where we found many delicious drinks and meals !
This is a great accommodation!
We stayed at Casa Sophia with two of our daughters and their two friends. My husband and I were upstairs with our own bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, dining room and beautiful balcony overlooking the pool and the ocean. The 4 kids aged 17-21 shared the bottom level which had another two bedrooms and two bathrooms and shared a kitchen an lovely patio also overlooking the ocean and pool.
The path to the ocean is beautiful but lots of steps. It didn’t bother us a bit. The other side of the property leads down a path right into town. Great for everyone to take off on their own. This was our 2nd time in Sayulita and will be back. Last year we stayed down the beach farther away from town and the hussle and bustle which I preferred but this accommodation fit our family better. If you want quiet, the area you pop out onto the beach would not be for you. It was very busy, and active and not quiet and it is a pretty good walk to escape it. This is more of a higher traffic tourist area. 4 chairs and an umbrella as well as 6 beach towels were provided and we brought them to the beach daily. You could also very easily rent chairs and an umbrella at the beach if you don’t want to lug them up and down all the stairs.
There are LOTS of beach vendors with food, drinks, massages, crafts, excursions etc. We all got massages some of us a couple of times for $20/hour. They were fantastic.
All but one of us got sick for 24 hours as did most everyone we talked to. I’m not sure how to avoid it. We played it pretty safe but still got sick. Still worth it.
We highly recommend this town and property.
