Caltagirone, in the heart of Sicily, allows you to quickly reach many of the most attractive places in the region. Close to places of cultural interest, such as Piazza Armerina, the Etna volcano, the Baroque of Ragusa, but also to the beach of Scoglitti. Caltagirone, famous for the ceramics that decorate a large part of the historic center, is known for the staircase of Santa Maria del Monte whose 142 steps connect the upper and lower cities. At the end of July the appointment is with the feast of the patron Saint James. On this occasion, the staircase is decorated with thousands of candles ready to form spectacular designs, different every year.
The historic center can be easily reached on foot (about 15 minutes) but it is preferable to have a car to visit the surroundings. Just two minutes on foot you can reach Giardino di Bacco, a restaurant / pizzeria immersed in a pine forest, perfect for a summer dinner based on Mediterranean flavors. One of the best pastry shops in the city, Scivoli, is just a 20-minute walk away. Here you can taste many sweet Calatini, suitable for those looking for a traditional breakfast. The best restaurant in Caltagirone, Coria, is about 3 km (5 min by car) from Villa Diana. Winner of a Michelin star and numerous other awards, it guarantees a typically Sicilian but at the same time very modern cuisine.

This Villa is a magical masterpiece of history and comfort. It is close to town, full of amenities, grounds out of the aristocracy and very welcoming. Carla and her wonderful mom were as accommodating, helpful, gracious and loving as you could want. Highly recommend and hope to come back with friends!
