Step back in time as you enter Airlie, a casual and comfortable '60s beach house. It's so close to the beach that you can smell the salt in the air, you can hear the constant sound of the waves breaking on the shore, and of course, you can see it all from the house. You can walk to the water's edge in just a couple of minutes.
There is a large deck where you can enjoy fantastic views of the beach as you relax after your morning swim. You might even spot a dolphin or two. At twilight sit back with a glass of something as you watch the stunning Gerroa sunset, and at night dine under the stars, as you admire the spectacular Milky Way above. Then, at bedtime be lulled to sleep by the ever-present sound of the surf as the waves collapse on the shore.
THE HOUSE
Airlie is a large, older style house, with a veritable beachy feel.
There are 3 bedrooms (two with a queen bed, and one with trio bunk beds - double on the bottom and a single on top). There is also a sunroom with two single beds, perfect for two children.
The open plan lounge, dining and kitchen have river and beach views, as does the deck.
The double garage has been fitted out as a kids'/teenagers' pad, with table tennis, coffee table and an old lounge or two to loll about on. The laundry, second shower and loo are also located here. There is also a large yard where the kids can kick a ball.
There is free unlimited Wifi.
Pets are not permitted as there is a family of blue tongue lizards in residence, which we are keen to protect. Also the property is not fenced.
LOCATION
Gerroa is a sleepy sea-side hamlet, an easy two hour drive south from the Sydney CBD, and under three hours from Canberra.
It is situated on the northern tip of Seven Mile Beach, about 10 minutes south of Kiama.
The house is located in the old part of Gerroa, with a leafy, hilly outlook to the front, and beach and river views to the rear.
It's a two minute stroll to the quaint shop/post office, and another couple of minutes to The Blue Swimmer, a trendy coffee shop/restaurant.
The beach is great for surfing, boogie boarding, swimming, fishing, kiting and endless walking. There are frequent sightings of whales and dolphins.
Nearby are the historic towns of Berry and Jamberoo.
There are tennis courts at Werri Beach (5 mins) and a golf course with views to die for just outside Gerroa (3 mins). There is horse riding at Foxground, 5 minutes south of Gerringong.

GUEST COMMENTS
Below is a selection of our guests' comments on their stay at Airlie, from before Vrbo came into existence.
Anna (stayed January 2011)
Thanks for a great holiday. We enjoyed a lovely week on the beach, at the playground and going for walks. We were very comfortable staying at Airlie with 4 adults and 2 little children who loved the bunk beds and playing quoits and running races in the garden. We will return!
Lisa ( October 2010)
We had a fabulous time at Arlie, what a lovely home. We had such good weather that we were able to put our swimmers on and play down by the where it lets into the sea. The view was lovely and the kids had a great time.
Mark (July 2010)
We (four golfing tragics) chose to stay at Airlie as it provided close access to a number of first class golf courses on the coast. What we got in addition was the great location close to the beach and a short walk (albeit up hill) to the very welcoming Gerroa Fishing Club. This is a great place for a short stay on the coast.

We had a great time! The last day was raining but still the beautiful view! The house was perfect! Exactly what we were looking for, comfy and relaxed but with everything we needed. Thank you!
Vicki (Oct 2009)
We had a lovely stay at Airlie. Just the break we needed, even if the weather was not what we'd hoped for. We all got dressed in our swimmers as soon as we got up and headed to the beach whenever there was a break in the rain - a strategy that saw us get about 3 swims in! We had lots of fun with the indoor games and the girls spent many hours honing their table tennis skills. We also loved the view and the relaxed, unpretentious, and comfortable style of the house.
Aimee (March 2009)
Five of us stayed for a long weekend and we had a fantastic time. The house is spacious, clean and just two minutes from the beach. It has the most fantastic veranda with beautiful views. We were even treated to some spectacular lightening shows.
The beach is fabulous, we surfed every day and had beautiful breakfasts at the local cafe. A lovely place to stay just outside of Sydney.

We had a wonderful stay! The house is very well equipped and in a great spot! We were really comfortable there. The 4 teenage girls did some surfing lessons which they loved, and the baby slept well so well everyone had a good time! I am sure we'll be back...

Stayed at the Airlie with the whole family who loved how clean & spacious the house is, but most of all, the proximity of the beach to the house. Great views of the ocean (the sound of the waves crashing lulling us to sleep) and a very short walk to the Crooked River & the beach.
Will be back for another visit soon!
Sharon - April 2006
This was our second stay at Airlie and we can't wait to go back again. The house is perfect for families, the views are fantastic and Gerroa is so peaceful. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Sarah - March 2006
We had a wonderful stay at Airlie - the house comfortably fitted four adults and four little children. Much time was spent watching the perfect surfing waves from the dining room and enjoying the changing light during the day, culminating in beautiful sunsets.
Deb - Mar 2006
We had a lovely weekend at Gerroa. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your fabulous beach house. I don't think we have ever been so relaxed. My husband thinks it's because the kids are a bit older but I'm sure it was the fantastic view and Airlie feeling like a home away from home!
Denise - Feb 2006
Had a fantastic time - the house is great - spacious and very comfortable with views to die for and close to the beach. Thoroughly recommend.
Susan - Dec 2005

Airlie took me back to my childhood, no fuss, no bother, real warmth and care.
BRONWYN - Oct 2005
We recently stayed at Airlie, 2 nights was not long enough !! We loved the views of the ocean and sat on the verandah for hours. The living/dining area is very spacious and comfortable. We found Airlie very suitable for 3 couples.

What a wonderful holiday house!! The views are absolutely breathtaking and such a short stroll to the beach. We had a fantastic time at Airlie and will be back!! The games in the house were great - my daughter and I are now Battleship champions!! The kids LOVED the house, their beds, the yard - where we played a spot of cricket :) - the beach, the sound of the surf at night, and the ping pong table!! Thank you for sharing such a lovely home - we had a lovely memorable happy family holiday.
Sam - June 2005
We had a great time at Airlie. The kids particularly loved all of the boardgames and table tennis. We struggled to get them to leave the house!
Many thanks,

We had a wonderful time staying at Airlie House in Gerroa. The house is spacious and very close to the beach. We didn't want to leave and we will definitely spend our next beach side holiday at Airlie House. Thank you!

Thank you again,

Louise - April 2005
We enjoyed ourselves at Airlie. Thank you! Gerroa is such a lovely spot and the river feeding into the sea is so much fun for our young children - the banks and rock pools are much more visually stimulating than plain old
sand and surf! We spotted one of the blue tongues too!!
Thanks again.
Louise
Craig - March 2005
This house is fantastic. Big, roomy, clean and comfortable. The view is just beyond belief. As the sunsets over the mountains and the pink sky spreads out over the sand my three year old son said "WOW". Thanks heaps.
Jennifer - March 2005
A wonderful '60s beach house with sweeping views, picture windows and that 'at home relaxed' feel. Perfect when you have kids of any age. Very hard to leave and definitely will return. We loved the fact that we could arrive early and leave late and take advantage of the long days still in early March.
