Blackfork Old Hay Loft cabin is located south of Hodgen, Oklahoma in the Ouachita National Forest on 105 Acres of land connecting to US Forest Service on the North and South boundaries of the property.

We offer a cozy cabin that sleeps up to 8 in beds perfect for all types of vacation getaways. It also has 5 hammock hooks on the back porch. From groups to families, we can accommodate those looking for spending time with loved ones.

We have another cabin near this one and can accommodate larger groups that are wanting to rent out both cabins. (Vrbo listing #1854705)

Our cabin is a modern rural get-away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! It has all the comforts of home with the exception of Wifi and Television. Instead, there is a large deck with lots of seating areas facing the river that showcases the beauty of the outdoors. You can enjoy watching the wildlife from the comfort of the cabin.

The river is a short walk from the cabin. You can enjoy secluded access to swimming, canoeing, kayaking, or just wading around in the cool water. The bottom of the river is covered in beautiful river rocks so water shoes are recommended for stability.

We have kayaks and paddleboards available to rent for $40 to use the whole length of your stay, and inter-tubes for free (stored beneath the deck). There is a great area for watercraft accessibility in front of the other cabin on the property. Please message us if you are interested in these additional features!

We make your vacation in the forest effortless. All you need to bring is your food and clothes! It’s that easy. Phone service is hit or miss at the cabin but a short trip up the road will make phone calls possible if necessary.

If you love being outdoors or admiring nature, then this is the perfect stay for you and your loved ones! Our cabin in the woods is the perfect place to escape and connect to nature.

Great “off the grid” getaway

Gorgeous view and so peaceful. We had a blast getting away from it ALL. I think it would be even more enjoyable in summer because the outdoor space is just amazing.

Great Cabin!

Absolutely amazing experience! We spent a week as a family and became closer than we have ever been. Far enough away from town to be secluded, yet close enough to visit the surrounding area. Absolutely perfect!

Loved it here!

We fell in love with the property, the location and the cabin right away. There were fun games there for the whole family to play. And the river is slow flowing so it was less stress and more play. Check in/out was super easy. We definitely hope to make another trip here next summer!

Great location, spacious cabin

The location is very secluded and even though the cabin is well stocked with the usual supplies, the nearest stores are so far that you should plan your food and other things like meds accordingly! The cabins themselves are a bit close to the RV hookup area but we had no trouble from the "neighbors" and had our peaceful little area.

Fantastic Family Adventure

I took our 3 little kiddos to this special place. It was perfect for what we were looking for, quiet, calm, peaceful, solitude, nature, gorgeous property, flowing river, trails to explore, vintage arcade, charming cabin, hot tub, firepit....simple. We made memories for a lifetime!

So much fun

Family loved it. We enjoyed the UTV rental as well. It rained so it was so much better than the Texas heat. No TV no internet & my 4, 6 & 14 year old still want to go back!

A place to unplug

Very relaxing long weekend. Beautiful area, cabin is very clean and well equipped. There is NO cell service, wi-do or TV. IT WAS AWESOME to completely unplug for a a long weekend. River is great but water shoes are a must due to the rocks!!! Highly recommend this place!!

Seclusion at its best

We had a great stay. Great cabin, very secluded and quiet. The only problems we had were finding cabin initially as the gps does not take you there as stated in listing( I would suggest signs placed on wise rd and by tree in middle of road. Also there was soloed food left in freezer for some reason which was a turn off for me. But overall stay was good.

Awesome place

We enjoyed our stay at this great place. It was nice to get away and unplug for a few days. We fished in the river, hiked part of the Boardstand Trail, drove some of the Talimena Scenic drive and checked out Freeman Hole. The stars at night were as bright as I have seen. The owners father was as nice as could be. Since there is no cell service for AT&T it would be really nice to have a thermometer on the back porch. Great place to relax!

Beautiful Cabin

We took our boys to this cabin to celebrate Feast of Tabernacles and spend time together. The weather was perfect! Cabin was awesome! The views are stunning! Our dog was in heaven. We went kayaking, hiking and a lot of s’mores. The hot tub was really nice too. I could stay on that porch forever! We got alot of nice family photos with those views! So bring a camera! We plan on going back next year.

Relaxing and peaceful.

Very nice getaway from the digital everyday life that we know. The river was great to kayak and fish in. We went fairly far upstream on foot. Rocks are very slippery so it was slow go. Fished for a while until a snake showed and we quickly traversed back. Only downside were the annoying summer time bugs.

Great Escape

Property owner was great with communication & detailed directions. (You'll need them!) Was stocked with plenty of dishes & cook wear. Having a washer & dryer there came in handy. Was plenty of room for our 2 family birthday get away. The patio & hottub were great. We enjoyed fishing right outside the cabin & exploring outside. Felt like we were getting to sneak away at a good friend or family's lake house. Thank you!

AMAZING PROPERTY

I do believe this was the best vacation our family has taken. With the chaos of reality going on at the moment this escape deep into the Ouachita Forest was exactly what we needed. We were truly able to reconnect as a family as there was no technology, social media, or even cell service to distract us. Our boys ages 16 & 12 practically lived on the river the entire week. The fishing was awesome and peace and quiet was even better. Owner made sure we had everything we needed without feeling intrusive. Cabin had everything we needed and more. We would definitely love to return in the future.

AMAZING!!!

This was such an amazing getaway!! We were really needing a little R&R and quiet time with our dogs. The cabin itself is beautiful and so unique. The River is wonderful and our dogs were living their best life running around and swimming in the river. I didn't realize there was another cabin on the property but you do not even notice the other cabin, it is very secluded. We had a little issue with the Hot Tub not being super warm but the Owner's Dad came by and let us the hot tub at the vacant cabin on the property which was very nice of him to do. We will definately return if possible!!!

Great time away

Can't say enough about our time at the Hayloft. On the river before the sun came up and off the river after the sun went down. Rented the kayaks and had a ball due to higher than normal river level. (Major storms on Sunday) By the end of the week we had caught fish till we didn't want to catch any more. Kids had a little withdrawal from the lack of WiFI later in the evenings. HIghly recommend the conversation starters and I hope the next guest can enjoy the fire pit. We built it up, but never got around to using it. Already talk about a return trip. oops I almost forgot the naps in the hammocks. Time well spent for sure.

Fabulous week away from it all

Our family had the most relaxing and enjoyable time possible. The cabin is remote. Do not book this location if you don’t want to disconnect. The location is gorgeous next to a beautiful stretch of the river. The inside is spacious and comfortable. We had 5 in our family and had more than enough space. There was plenty of opportunity to rest and relax - read a book, soak in the hot tub, sit on the porch with a cup of coffee, hike the property, or take a lazy nap. If you go into town, try the Southern Belle for lunch. Hike around the lake at Cedar Lake. We are already planning our return visit! Thank you for the fantastic trip!

Beautiful cabin and property!! Being “unplugged” is more fun than you think! We fished, swam, kayaked, hiked, grilled, made s’mores, and played card games on the deck while watching the river. It was a great weekend!!

This Cabin was moved from Poteau in the summer of 2013 and was finished remodeling in 2014. It was bought from a 92 old lady that remembers as a young teenager climbing the ladder when it was a hay barn. She told us it was over 100 years old and was glad to see it getting saved. Moving it to Black Fork from Poteau was an amazing task with cutting many trees back, building new roads and the characters that moved it could have been on a TV show for their amazing humor and work ethic! The Cabin now sits where another cabin previously sat that was probably close to 1880s. It fell in a snow storm in 2010 and the only remains are some barn wood inside the current cabin and the smoke house (or my grandma thinks chicken coop) that is still currently next to the cabin. There is another cabin on the property only the exploring guests find. It is probably close to 1880s and crazy to imagine that a family of 10 or 15 probably lived in that place.
