Wildlife We are fortunate to have many native animals around us , please be aware when you are walking or driving , you may encounter echidnas , blue tongue lizards , water dragons , shinks , land mullet , ringtail possums , and carpet snakes. .. keep your eyes open. There is also a wide variety of birdlife including the majestic sea eagles , Brahmany kites , tawny frogmouths , rainbow lorrikets , and honey eaters that love the grevillias and umbrella trees near the verandah , fruit bats at night .. and the VERY much less adored bush turkeys.
To the Beach It is only two minutes away ....the easiest way to the beach is a path adjacent to the side path / rear door ..down the stepping stones into the nature reserve , straight ahead , you can then proceed down the wooden bridge and across to the right and down the gravel driveway near the beachfront showers. If you would like to walk into town .. turn left when you reach Marine Parade proceed across to the BBQ area where you will see the beginning of the walking track. The track will take you over to the ‘Pass’ and from there you can follow the beach ( depending on the tide ) or go up past The Cafe onto the raised walkway adjacent to Lighthouse Road into town. If you would like to walk to the most easterly point , the Cape Byron Headland Reserve and the Lighthouse , turn and proceed along Marine Parade to the east where you will come to the start of the walking track. There is a map there to show you the rest of the way. Check out Little Watego’s Beach and its lookout , this grassed mini headland is a popular spot to watch the sun or the moon rise.

Quiet, private, and accessible by a track through a gully, this was a cute little place with kind hosts and perfect for a solo traveller who wants to just relax and breathe.
This was our second stay in this studio which has everything you need for a short or longer stay. Great location for easy access to the beach or for walking to the lighthouse or into Byron Bay.
This is a beautiful property in a stunning location. Our hosts were delightful and very thoughtful. Bed was heaven. Great towels and beach towels. We will be going back!
Lovely little oasis! No breakfast provisions as stated in listing, but that was okay as there are many beautiful breakfast restaurants a short drive away. We saw a wild koala & her joey anout 10 mins away, it was pretty amazing. We throughly enjoined our stay :)
On the plus side, this property was clean and equipped with most things you need. Grahame was very helpful in sorting out minor issues. We did find the room (which is the basement of the main house) quite small overall. There were no windows to open so could feel a bit claustrophobic. I opened the door over-night for ventilation, but it would get very hot (there was air con) over summer. The location at Wategos was picturesque. It is a hike (via the lighthouse walk) into town. We didn't have a car so did lots of walking and would recommend a car if you were staying here.
Great value for the price.
There was nothing to you could fault it on.
Quality of our suite, location, property and owners, all combined to make it a great stay.
Thanks Grahame and Carol
A 5 minute walk to Wategos beach which is simply magnificent, we watched the Whales breaching, the big surf, the Sea Eagles hunting, what else could you ask for?
The property is small and intimate with everything you need.
This place was beautiful! Steps from the most beautiful beach and also to an amazing hike up to the lighthouse. We viewed a double rainbow from the top of the cliff! Accommodations were clean and well stocked with access to a washer and dryer. We absolutely fell in love with this place and hope to return. Graham and Carol are very nice people. Thankyou for sharing this beautiful place!
Just perfect. A peaceful, private sancturary only metres from beautiful Wategos beach, surrounded by lush tropical gardens and with views of the ocean. Delightful, welcoming hosts. We can’t wait to return.

We loved the serenity of the beach studio. The candles, breakfast supplies and the torch( for the night walks into town) added that little extra to our stay.Great location.
