About this property
Mckenzie River Cabin #13 at the Log Cabin Inn, screened porch, .5mi Trailhead
Get your hearts and cameras ready for some wonderful family memories gathered while enjoying this beautiful new cabin, built right next to the historic "Hoover Cabin" where President Herbert Hoover frequented back in his day. Clarke Gable and the Duke of Windsor also visited the famous stage stop, restaurant and Inn, along with many others of notoriety. Wander the entire seven acres and hundreds of feet of Mckenzie River frontage as you soak in the beautiful surroundings. The grassy meadow offers a serene setting for laying out, hanging out with your favorite people or is ready for your impromptu game of frisbee football. Walk across Mckenzie Bridge and enjoy the Bier Garden of the Mckenzie General Store, featuring several micro-brews on tap and a surprising menu of lunch and dinner options fashioned at the Obsidian Grill. MGS offers live bands and movie nights along with many other themed entertainment events weekly throughout the summer. Also, right across the river is a boutique bar and grill experience called Mckenzie Station.
Takodas Resturaunt is just about 4 minutes west of the cabin and offers a great menu for all three meals, plus cocktails.
Blue Sky Market offers gas, propane, and groceries, plus supplies and prepared, ready to eat, foods.
Within about 2 miles, you could be hitting that long drive and making that curvy putt while enjoying the old growth trees and Three Sisters cascade mountain views at Tokatee Golf Club, rated as one of America's greatest public courses. There are at least three natural hot springs in the area for your soaking enjoying. Terwilliger Hot Springs, aka Cougar Hot Springs, is clothing optional and just 15 minutes from the cabin. Belknap hot springs offers a man made pool full of natural hot spring water, if something more conservative is in order. Plus, the benefit of the pool, is that you can actually swim in the hot water, instead of just soaking. Another, smaller, Spring is just upriver a few miles at Deer Creek Rd, but this one is for those who really want that "on the river, hot-spring experience" (this one is also clothing optional).
Take a drive upriver a few miles to Sahalie Falls and walk down the Mckenzie River Trail toward Carmin Reservoir. This is a short hike, but allows you to take in the wilder portions of the Mckenzie River near its beginnings just down from Clear Lake. Don't forget the camera.
Take the scenic drive up Hwy 242, the old Mckenzie Pass, to the huge lava flows of Belknap Crater. You can go up into the lava stone tower and see nearly all of the Central Oregon Cascade Mountains. Sisters, a western style historic town just east of the mountain passes, is just an hour from the cabin. Annually, there is a huge Sisters Quilt Show and the famous Sisyers Rodeo takes place every June.
Hoodoo Ski Bowl is just half an hour from the cabin and offers snow skiing, snow boarding, snowmobiling, snow-shoeing and tubing for the kid in you. The tubing park is great for family time and the auto rope pull back up the hill allows you to enjoy the kids all day long without wearing yourself out.
The famous Mckenzie River Trail is about 26 miles from just about half a mile from the cabin to up above Clear Lake. Hikers and Mountain Bikers love this trail, but so do fishing enthusiasts who love fishing from hole to hole as they walk casually upriver.
Stop in at the Ranger Station for area maps to all of the natural attractions of this scenic area.
Most importantly, take time for the re-creation of yourself and the re-connection with your loved ones in this perfect setting for both.
The cabin is fully equipped with all appliances and furnishings. There is a bedroom with private bath downstairs offering a king size bed and another bedroom with full bath upstairs offering two twins. A queen sized inflatable mattress can also be made available if necessary. Please advise us when you book.

Hosted by Jonathan and Lisa Mahody

This cabin is professionally managed by Jonathan and Lisa Mahody, of Riveroceanviews Rental Management. We have been managing Mckenzie River properties for ourselves and others for more than 12 years now. Give us a call at 541-419-2787 for any questions you might have -- we are glad to help. Our goal is to provide you with a clean and safe place from which to enjoy your best vacation!
Here are our cleaning protocols:
1.We wear disposable gloves when cleaning and disinfecting surfaces. Gloves are discarded after each cleaning. If reusable gloves are used, those gloves are only used for cleaning and disinfection of surfaces.
2.We clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces in household common areas (e.g. tables, hard-backed chairs, doorknobs, light switches, remotes, handles, desks, toilets, sinks) between each renter.
3.We use the following disinfectants for cleaning the cabin; diluted household bleach solutions, alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol, and most common EPA-registered household disinfectants.
4.We clean the soft (porous) surfaces such as carpeted floor, rugs, and drapes, remove visible contamination if present and clean with appropriate cleaners indicated for use on these surfaces.
5.We launder items as appropriate in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. We wash towels, sheets and bedspreads with the warmest appropriate water setting (hot water) for the items and dry them completely.
6.We wear disposable gloves when handling dirty laundry and then discard after each use.
