About this property

Myola, perfect place for a relaxIng time near the beach and Creek!

Myola is a secret little village surrounded by bush and minutes away from the Creek and Beach as both at the end of the road. If you have kayak then it’s only a 100 meters to access the Creek and the boat ramp is just at the end of the street. It's a perfect place for an escape, quiet and relaxing!Saltwater, offers a 3 bedroom house well-stocked, kitchen, practical laundry and open living areas. It is all tastefully decorated with comfort and relaxation in mind and a beach feel. There are two decks; Balinese style deck provides the perfect spot to catch up on that book you have been meaning to finish and a large deck for entertaining. You can hear the surf and the local birds visit each day, it's a great place to relax and unwind.

The Teen Retreat has plenty of space with a TV, Music system plus lounges and a games area. Kids love their own space and it gives you some time to relax when they are occupied. We have bikes for your use for all ages which you can take on the beach at low tide. Also we have Table tennis, Fooseball, beach games ball and board games. There are a selection of DVD's and Cd's for your use in the main house or the retreat.

All Linen is included in the cost which is all your bed linen, towels for personal use and the beach, kitchen and bathroom linen, plus towels for your Fur Baby when they go for a swim :) Please note we prefer your pet to stay outside where there is a bed for them.

Great safe swimming locally, fishing is popular with Flat head, Bream and Whiting and the current trend is Kayak or Stand-up boards. Don't forget the snorkels, some flippers on-site.

Our gardens are well stocked and very natural, with plenty of trees around and feeding areas for the Birds. Expect a visit from the big red/grey Kangaroos that visit the back street and hop through to the Bush. It truly is a great break from the City and around 2.5 hours from the Centre of Sydney.

We are a quiet community, popular with families who enjoy the outdoor life and an escape from too much traffic and noise.

Additional info:
The outdoor setting is large and seats 8 adults with additional seating available and a Bali style lounge for your relaxation.

Local info

With a Boat Ramp down the street, plus the Creek one side and the Beach a short walk away this is a perfect spot to keep an eye out for Whales and Dolphins. The marine life is excellent with Sting Rays always feeding in the Creek; snorkelling is popular and so is fishing (you need a local permit available online). Myola and the Bay are popular with adults and kids that love to fish, ride a bike on the beach or walk the dog, its peaceful, safe and not overcrowded. Catch the ferry to Husky for your coffee fix, it's just down the end of the street. For a quick swim/fish we are 100 meters away from the Creek with the Beach at the end of the street (mins away)and adjacent to the Creek for more swimming and the Ferry pick up near the picnic tables.

You are well placed to visit some of the fantastic secluded beaches in the National Park which encircle Jervis Bay. Try Honeymoon Bay near Point Perpendicular and then Murray's Beach on the opposite head of the Bay; or surfing at Culburra Beach, snorkel at the Hole in the Wall. Nearby there is Horse Riding, Canoes for hire, Fishing trips and Cruises to see the Dolphins and Whales. Try Green Point for Oysters... yum! Jim's are the best. And local Wineries...so much to see, its up to you to relax in the quietness of Myola or use Saltwater as a base.

Get your groceries at IGA in Callala Beach shops where there is a butcher, chicken shop, post office, liquor store and chemist. Or stock up at Woolies in Culburra/Nowra . Myola is little secret place, quiet and secluded.....bush all around and the Beach and Creek minutes away. Head for Husky for your Cafe lifestyle and the crowds for a change of scene.

YOU can relax and unwind while the kids stay in the TEEN RETREAT!

The Retreat is a really cool sleep out/games room detached from the house where the kids can hang out and enjoy themselves. We call it the 'Fun Shack' with table tennis, table soccer, TV and Bikes are on site too.

Please note use of toilets and kitchen are in main house.

This property is very unique and in a lovely setting, couples and families are welcome.
For Fur Babies (we have a chocolate Lab called Quincy) there is a bed on site, drinking and food bowls and towels for their swim. There is a water hose onsite to wash any salt off. Its a bush area so please make sure you have some Tick prevention in Spring and Summer.
Saltwater has a yard that is fully fenced /enclosed and we have a gate that closes itself if you forget to close it.
We do prefer for your fur baby to sleep outside and if they must be inside please not in the bedrooms or to sleep on any of the couches. We understand they want to be near you but ask that you consider other guests and the hair that sometimes any Dyson can miss! Thanks for your consideration.

Perfect family get away!
Myola is a beautiful, peaceful spot away from the crowds of Jervis Bay tourist areas. The house is situated a short walk to the dog friendly beach in one direction & boat ramp in the other. Local shops are Callala (5 min drive) or Nowra (30 min drive) for larger shops & supermarkets. Saltwater is situated on the main road but set back from the street so the house is very quiet. The garden is very tranquil with a plethora of bird life. There is plenty of undercover outdoor seating which was great for us as the weather wasn't great during our stay! I loved relaxing on the Balinese lounge with a book & cup of tea, listening to the wind in the treetops & waves in background. The house was clean & comfortable with good sized bedrooms & plenty of storage for your luggage. The kitchen was well stocked with all mod cons, however there was limited space to put pantry items away. There is also the teen retreat in the converted garage with additional beds for your independent kids + table tennis & fusball table. Lorraine was fantastic! From the moment we booked to the day of our departure she was in contact or available if we had any questions. We have already booked for next year :D Thank you Lorraine & Clive for making our holiday so easy xx

Great place to relax
Myola is very quiet compared to some of the other places on the bay and the coast. We enjoyed walking on the beach, bush walks and cycling the numerous forest tracks.

We loved our stay
From the moment we booked, Lorraine was very communicative and gave us all the info we’d need for our stay. We were very much looking forward to our weeklong stay and we certainly were not disappointed. Saltwater is a lovely, clean and well appointed beach house with everything one could need. The spacious double garage converted to a great teenager’s retreat was also impressive. The fusball and table tennis tables got a decent workout. Don’t need to mention how close to beaches, fishing, etc is and there is a dog beach close by. There is also a good pizza place in Callahan Bay that delivers as well as an IGA. Our lab loved the place too and appreciated the bed, bowl and beach towel that had been prepared for her too. I asked my 10yo son to tell me what he thought of our stay and he said “beautiful”, “awesome”, and “amazing” lol Look forward to returning at some point.

Great location - away from the crowds
Overall property was great and owner was fantastic went it came to communication. She could not have been more helpful. I liked the fact the property was off the beaten track - we stayed there during the January school holidays and it was great to be away from all the crowds. My tip - get a Woolworths delivery the day you arrive. Not a lot of shops around and the local IGA definitely has 'tourist prices'.

About the host

I'm English and came to Australia in 1999 . I started off my career in the Hotel Industry, then Travel, Recruitment, Real Estate and back to Recruitment. So I guess I am a people person!
Clive and I discovered Myola on a Sunday drive looking for a property that was advertised for sale. We had stayed in Huskisson before and had found that "Husky" was too busy for us, we wanted a place to escape the "busy hum" that Sydney has.
Myola is unique and is usually very peaceful (gets busy in School hols), we bought "Saltwater" 18 months later after our trop in June 2008, our Golden Lab Ollie loved the beach and we wanted a Dog friendly beach. Saltwater was a holiday home when we viewed it and we decided leave it that way, putting in a mix of old and new, keeping it relaxed and chilled with a beach theme.
We have tried to keep everything like a "home from home" so that our guests can enjoy themselves and not have to bring the kitchen sink. We also have listened to our guests and made additions over the years. Compared to other places we have stayed in I believe we are well catered and we have guests re-booking year after year.
Now we have Quincy, a Chocolate Lab, he loves it there too and goes a little bit crazy every time he arrives in Myola.
We hope you love it there too, it is a special spot very undiscovered 12 years ago, still a little sleepy village and a place to chill/recharge.

Why they chose this property

Saltwater is on a 800 m2 fenced block, the garden is tropical with 4 Giant Bird of Paradise trees and well established plants.
We also have a couple of resident Blue tongue's and its usual to see the big kangaroos running down the street! It's a beautiful area, safe swimming for the kids and plenty of space for Kayaking or Stand-up board activity. The birdlife is amazing and they come for a daily feed around 4pm. The house is set away from the street so we are lucky to have a quiet setting and a bush view from the lounge/dining. Flat block, good for kids and your fur babies. We have always been scrupulous in our cleaning practices, steam cleaning after each stay and cleaning all surfaces.

What makes this property unique

Myola is simply unique!
We try to make it a home for you too with all that you need and some little extra touches that hopefully make you feel very welcomed and in a relaxed.
We are being discovered and I am sure it will get busier over the next few years and the locals are saying we will be the next "Hyam's".
We have a fabulous long sandy beach and beautiful spit (that Huskisson try's to steal in their marketing!) plus plenty of walking tracks and the water's edge a short distance away. You can hear the surf from the property of a morning and night as its so quiet.
We have a fire pit that can be used mostly in the Autumn/Winter months as we are in a bush zone.
Very much a kid friendly area and a great place to take the dog on holiday, such a shame to leave part of the family at home or in care, bring them with you!
