About this property
Arinya Lodge - Mountaintop Wilderness Escape
Experience romance, adventure, wilderness, peace & tranquillity!
Perched on top of Mt George with views of the Patterson Valley and World heritage listed Barrington Tops is Arinya Lodge. “Arinya” means Kangaroo in the Aboriginal language.
Arinya is an ecolodge with stunning views, priceless moments, beautiful unspoilt natural surroundings and an abundance of native Australian birds and wildlife…… Did we say stunning views? It has everything that exudes comfort, privacy and peace and everything you could want for a truly relaxing break.
On the 1,000-acre mountaintop wilderness retreat, wildlife roams freely, and why not? It’s an absolute priviledge to share the environment with the Wallabies, Wallaroos, Kangaroos, Koalas, Goannas, Mountain Lizards, Possums, Echidnas, Gliders, Crimson Rosellas, Black Cockatoos, Wrens, Native Pigeons, Kookaburras……… Wedge-Tail Eagles soar aloft and tranquillity rules.
This unique mountain resort (over 500 meters above the valley below) is located on the top of Mt George, the highest peak in the Moonabung ranges. As the weather cools, clouds and mist envelope the resort providing a surreal feeling of living in the clouds. On some days you are even above the clouds!
Set on 13 unspoilt acres in an award-winning mountaintop wilderness resort in the Lower Hunter Valley, Arinya Lodge is perfect for romantic weekends and great family escapes.
On the grounds of Arinya Lodge is the Moonabung Labyrinth (see below).
As our private guests you will also enjoy the use of all the community facilities including the Tennis Court, solar-heated Pool, Outdoor Fitness Centre, Swimming Lagoon & BBQ Picnic area, Children’s Play Area, Recreation Room with Table Tennis and Pool tables and, of course, the Bistro & Bar.
With wonderful Bushwalking Trails, a Rainforest with an old Bushman’s Hut, a beautiful Lagoon for dragonfly watching and freshwater dips, Yabby Ponds, 4 WD tracks, panoramic Lookouts and more, there are endless ways to escape, really experience and enjoy the natural world.

THE MOONABUNG LABYRINTH.
Often confused with Mazes, where you go to get lost, Labyrinths are where you go to “Find yourself”.
Walked by pilgrims and penitents and an important spiritual part of many cultures for thousands of years, Labyrinths can be found in many of Europe’s medieval churches and cathedrals such as Chartres – on which the Labyrinth opened in Sydney’s Centennial Park in September 2014 was based.
Made almost entirely by hand by Arinya's owners, the Moonabung Labyrinth is accurately modelled on the even older, ancient Cretan pattern.
Other religions incorporate Labyrinths into their spirituality. Buddhists walk them in silent meditation and they are often laid out in sacred shapes that encourage contemplation and thoughtfulness.
Labyrinths, have acknowledged therapeutic and medical benefits and there is evidence that a labyrinth walk is a ‘right brain exercise’ that can activate the intuitive, imagination and creative side of your brain. The mentally calming and meditative effect of Labyrinths has led to more than 200 being built in US Hospitals in the last decade. There’s a Labyrinth at the Westmead Children’s Hospital and they are appearing in Universities, Rehabilitation Clinics, Parks, Schools and many other places worldwide.
