Arda Cluggen - Near Daylesford

The standard price is $480 per night for 2 or more nights. In addition there is a HomeAway/stayz service fee. Note: We no longer take 1 night bookings.

Named after an Irish village in County Cork, Arda Cluggen is a double storey double mud brick home that welcomes up to 10 or more guests for a cosy inviting retreat.

Situated high up on 200 acres of rolling hills, it commands stunning views of the surrounding countryside. It is the perfect place for you to relax with family and friends and well behaved pets!

Solid timbers, a Coonara wood heater and large open fire make for a welcoming and homely retreat in the winter months. Slate floors and spacious living areas also make for a comfortable destination in warmer months.

Arda Cluggen is very close to many attactions:
Close to Limestone Track Winery
5 minutes: to Mt Franklin, Chocolate Mill, Guildford Vineyard & Cellar, Guildford Local Store.
12 minutes to: Hepburn Springs, Lavendula (Lavender farm), Cricket Willow - home of the cricket bat.
15 minutes to Daylesford, Castlemaine and Newstead.

The property:
Take time out to enjoy to enjoy 200 acres of natural surrounds.

For the more energetic guests, take a walk through the adjacent property (that belongs to us), listen to the frogs as you walk past the dams and up to the shack. Take in the view, and then descend to the 100 acres on the far side of the property.

On warm days the more daring may fancy a dip in the dam. If not, why not try your hand at yabbying in one of the 9 dams!

Alternatively relax on the verandahs and see if you can spot the eagles. Kangaroos may visit during the day, but at dusk hundreds hop from the state forest into the far paddocks to graze.

At night, enjoya barbecue, watch the sun set and marvel at the stars on a clear night.

PLEASE NOTE: The house sleeps 10 people in beds. We have 3 x stretcher beds suitable for children and young adult to make up 13 people.

Wonderful country getaway

We stayed with a group of friends for a winter retreat. The house was clean and very roomy. The fire provided adequate heating which rose up to the bedrooms, keeping us very warm. The kitchen was incredibly well appointed - we were able to cook meals for ourselves to save us money on dining out. Incredibly close to everything Daylesford has to offer which made for lovely says out. The property manager was quick to respond to any communications and very clear about instructions. Definitely recommend if you have a large group and want to enjoy a daylesford getaway.

Great spot for a private getaway

Stayed with a group of 10 friends. We loved walking around and exploring the property including swimming in one of the dams and finding kangaroos. Very well equipped kitchen made it feel like a home. Great to have the BBQ and decking to enjoy outside under the stars.

Lovely long weekend in a well equipped house

Our family group of six adults and six children (aged 7-15) had a lovely long weekend stay at Arda Cluggen. The photos don’t do it justice! The house had everything we needed. We loved the views and space. We hope to return for another relaxing stay.

A room with a view.

What solitude and what a view to Mt Tarrengower.There is stacks of space inside. Outside; if the kids want to cut loose and burn off energy after the confines of the suburban backyard, then choose Arda Cluggen.

Beautiful Arda Cluggen

Our stay at Arda Cluggen was fantastic! Sue was incredibly accommodating and very helpful throughout. The house was clean and tidy, very well set up, and incredibly comfortable. The surrounding land is equally beautiful, lots of area to explore and appreciate. So gorgeous, we were sad to leave! Would highly recommended staying at Arda Cluggen, you wont regret it! A bit untidy, but beautiful location

The house was a bit untidy with cobwebs and dust everywhere. We also found a lot of spiders and other insects inside the house, one spider jumped out of the blanket when we got into it. The house leaked when it rained, and flooded the bathrooms both downstairs and upstairs. A few lights weren't working either. Bed and blankets were dusty and one of the pillows had dirt on it. The games room was nice and cozy, but the games were all missing pieces. Unfortunately for us, there was a hailstorm on our first night and it damaged our car heavily as it was parked in front of the house as there was no covered parking. Acknowledging this is no one's fault.

A group 9 of Orienteers over 60 years.

There was a lack of hanging places for towels and clothing for 7 of our friends who were not lucking enough to have the master bedroom. There was only 2 towels for drying dishes and the one yellow green sponge got ruined when we cleaned the BBQ.
