Situated on a stretch of coast between Catania and Taormina, proudly surveying its estate from the crest of a hill is Villa Bagolaro, an 18th Century country house in a stunning and perfectly peaceful setting between the sea and Mount Etna. Indoor and outdoor living combine seamlessly due to the bright and welcoming rooms and their communication with the terraces. It would be difficult to ask for a more delightful setting.

The area: Villa Bagolaro is an ideal starting point to explore Mount Etna and its surroundings. Etna villages such as Trecastagni, Zafferana Etnea and Randazzo are famous for their ancient lava flows, the architecture of their 17th century churches, their delicious local products and the hospitality of their villagers. Situated 700m above the sea, they are a popular destination for city dwellers who want some fresh air in the summer and snow for skiing in the winter. Few people know that Etna is a popular place among skiers in winter. On some beautiful winter days, it is even possible to ski on frozen slopes in the morning while enjoying a magnificent panoramic view of the Mediterranean and then go sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon!

The living areas and bedrooms of Villa Bagolaro are all on one floor (the first floor). The villa consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with shower, small tub, bidet and toilet, a large living area with fireplace and a double sofa-bed, another living area with a fireplace and a single sofa-bed, a kitchen with wood oven and next to it a dining room with dining table. Outside there is also a terrace with seating, deckchairs, extra toilet (in the laundry room), a shower and a barbecue. There is WiFi!

Because of the presence of 2 fireplaces, the house offers a pleasant stay also during the few cold weeks of the short Sicilian winter. There is a maximum usage of 3 KWH of electricity.

With Mount aetna to the back of the house, and the Mediterranean to the front, surrounded by lemon and orange trees, comfortable seating at every ordination, the perfect spot for relaxing, breathing in history, curling up with a good book, or exploring an ancient city.

We had a great time at this beautiful place! Mr. Grassi was a very nice and polite host. The accommodation is a perfect location for family or groups. If you want to visit some sandy beach, so you have to drive a little bit by car, but it's not far away from Mount Etna or Taormina. We would like to come back!

The house look exactly like in the pictures- and even more beautiful. The garden is a real paradise! It is located in a really quiet area so you can barely leave the house without a car, but that didint really bother us. We had the most relaxing vacation, with super nice hosts.

Authentic Sicilian experience! The house is a piece of history and has been in the family a long time. It has views of the sea on one side and Mount Etna on the other. A great hub to take day trips to Taormina, Catania, Syracuse.

This old family house is truly special, with history, beauty and character unmatched in more modern accomodations. Great kitchen, nice tiles and soaring cielings. The house location is convenient to tour major sites in Catania, Syracuse and Taormina. But best of all was sitting on the wrap around terrace looking at Mount Etna puff in the distance over the lemon and orange trees.

A beautiful house in the countryside, child friendly, and the garden is fantastic, with plenty to keep the kids occupied! The host was welcoming! Responded very quickly and was very accommodating to our needs. Check-in instructions were detailed and helpful. We could not have asked for a better location. Lovely space! An old villa in the middle of a lemon orchard with a lot of charm. The house has balconies overlooking both Mount Etna and the sea. It is furnished fairly rustically (no AC, dishwasher etc), but that is exactly how a stay in the countryside should be. It has everything one could wish for.

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful villa, 2 minutes by car from the sea. The house was even nicer than the pictures suggested and is surrounded on all sides by lemon trees and orchards. Off the back porch are views of Etna, off the front, the sea. Luigi, who helped us check in, was extremely friendly and very reachable. We would definitely come back.

The house is a beautiful villa with lot of space and amenities in the Sicilian countryside. From the huge balcony surrounding the building you can see the sea on one side and the Etna on the other. The actual house owners, Luigi and his wife, are wonderful people who immediately made us feel at home. They gave us plenty of recommendations regarding the local area and were extremely responsive to all of our needs.

Beautiful house in a citrus garden close to the coast and view on etna. A bakery is on 2 minutes. Big supermarket 10 minute drive. Close is a rocky beach, kind of private. There is a Great cd collection in the house: Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, etc. Music system is Great and you can play Very loud. But most importantly family Grassi are Very friendly and good hosts.

Amazing place, a real piece of paradise! Beautiful old villa surrounded by many lemon and orange trees,huge shading magnolia and plenty of flowers.A house is big enough for two families and well equipped-we worshipped the terrace in the evenings:)It is very well situated,great for exploring the east part of the island-must be great for spring/autumn trips too.The nearest beach is about 15mins walk.Luigi and his wife are very nice and helpful people,thank you!We also recieved many helpful information before our arrival from the agency.

What an amazing house! It has so many places to sit around a table; outdoor bbq area, tables under the trees, formal dining room and a cosy kitchen table. The view from every window is amazing- the sea, mount etna, orange trees. The shower is really good, and the kitchen has all the bits and bobs you need to do some serious cooking. Beds are cosy. The terraces around the villa have brilliant views and the gardens are perfect for kids. You definitely need a car, the road doesn’t have a pavement so you can’t walk to town or the sea, but we found lots of day trips, mostly about 40mins away from the villa down the motorway. Would really recommend!

By far the hardest review i had to write. Words cannot fulfil the warm emotions and memories that this house and its hosts have created for me and my friends who spent 5 nights there. We used the house as a base and did daily trips as far as Sciacca. So it is possible to explore quite a large part of the island, if you have a car (i believe you need it) Everything about our stay was perfect. From the communication and directions to the accuracy of tbe pictures and the tranquillity of this magical location and property. Thank you so much for your hospitality and mr. With the sea on one side and Etna on the other we stayed in this lovely stone house for ten days. We absolutely loved the large terrace around the house where we spent many long warm evenings. The house is stunning with its many original details and interior. If you love old houses, this is the place to stay! Modern and functional bathrooms and one outdoor shower. Our children appreciated the ping pong table. Our best excursions we would like to recommend are a guided tour to Etna, diving and fishing in Stazzo and don’t miss Siracusa - a must see! Both Neapolis Archaeological park and Ortigia, the old town. Our host Luigi was very helpful and kind whenever we had a question or needed advice for excursions. We had an amazing holiday and we will definitely come back to lovely Sicily!

We have just returned from an amazing week at this villa. Our hosts were amazingly friendly, helpful and patient. They waited at the villa for us until midnight following a delayed flight. The villa is exactly as pictured although of course being there it’s even more amazing. Such a big house was great for my daughter to run around in. And outside surrounded by the orange and lemon trees, plenty of space to walk. The location is a little out of the way, but easy enough to get around with a car. There are several nice restaurants nearby, particularly in the local hotels. Or of course you can just cook in the lovely kitchen. My only comment is that the directions provided were a little vague and we found down it tricky to find in the middle of the night. Google maps plots straight to the villa but in the darkness it was hard to see. Thankfully our wonderful hosts came to rescue us from the church nearby.

Lovely large old villa in great location.

This lovely big old villa is in a great location and is full of character with its doors/windows on every side of the property and the high ceilings.There's the magnificent views of the dominant, smoking Mount Etna to the rear of the property and views of the sea from the front + the huge gardens with lots of lemon and orange trees surrounding the place. It turned a little chilly at night (Mid-March) but there was a wood burning fire and lots of wood supplied so we made good use of that. The owner,Luigi, was very friendly and helpful and spoke quite good English. We realised we had forgotten our electrical plug adaptors and texted him to ask where we could buy some from as we couldn't find any in the supermarket or shops. He asked how many we needed and said he would bring some over to us(I think he lives about 8 miles away). He duly arrived with 2 adaptors and wouldn't accept payment so we said we'd leave them at the end of our stay, in case someone else had the same issue. Good WiFi too. Excellent drives up Etna, especially the south side. Quite a lot of snow up there but the roads were kept perfectly clear. Also good places to visit was Taormina and Syracusa + a few nice villages around. Good supermarket 5 mins drive away. Also a new cafe had just opened up in the village(Caruba) which did lovely ice cream. Overall a very enjoyable holiday in a lovely place. Recommend.

Accueil très chaleureux et gentil par Monsieur Luigi, malgré notre arrivee très tardive. Un problème avec le four etait résolu très rapidement. Les terrasses et la vue sur l'Etna sont splendides ainsi que les magnifiques orangers et citronniers, le domaine est bien cloisonné avec un portail, et la maison spacieuse et lumineuse. Nous avons passé de beaux moments devant le four de bois de la cuisine et profité de la table de ping pong et du BBQ à l'extérieur. Les matelas chauffants sont un atout dans les chambres. Des excursions, notamment à Taormine et Syracuse parfaitement possible en journée. Nous avons regretté un peu que l'eau du robinet ne soit potable, donc eau en bouteilles nécessaire pour café, thé et pour cuisiner.

Das Landhaus ist ein Traum! Von der einen Seite der umlaufenden Terrasse sieht man den Ätna, von der anderen das Meer. Die Einrichtung ist authentisch und passt super gut zum Stil des Hauses. Man kann zu Fuß zum Meer laufen und in der Umgebung tolle Ausflüge machen, lohnenswert ist zum Beispiel natürlich der Besuch des Ätna!

Très belle maison typique, spacieuse, tout est fait pour que l’on se sente comme à la maison. Linge propre, maison propre. Emplacement idéal pour visiter toute la côte Est de la Sicile. Hôte adorable, disponible, arrangeant. Nous avons passé un superbe séjour en Sicile, et la maison a contribué à cet enchantement. Je recommande! ????????????????
